Graeme O'Neil takes a look at Danny DeVito's review of Colin Farrell's take as The Penguin in 2022's "The Batman" after Danny played the role in 1992's "Batman Returns".

I have to agree, batman returns is quintessential 'comic book representation' The idea of a Grounded and Realistic approach to larger than life wacky, insane characters is Fun and in plenty cases seen as more Prestigious and Cinématique, But these are Batman villains, even with Ledger I wouldn't trade a hypothetical 'Real' sociopath who paints his face over Nicholson and Hamill's literal CLOWNS THAT FELL INTO VATS OF ACID AND SURVIVED!!!
It's interesting that Batman evolved 30 years after the making of Batman Returns and Devito shared Tim Burton's Gothic Halloween like theme compared to neo-noir films that focus on the crime element than a lot of the action adventure. What Batman brought in the Tim Burton films is what a serious live action film can look like that's true to the comic books. Batman Returns was in a fantasy world compared to 1990 Dick Tracy and it takes you out of your realm and puts people into Gotham City.
Batman Returns is amazing. Batman 89 is my sh*t tho, for sentimental reasons. I remember being 4 years old, riding in the car with my dad to go see that movie. The best time of my life as I remember being so excited but not as much for the movie.....it was just being with my dad. Constantly talking while looking over at him drive, it was the greatest. Pulling up to the theater with all the flashing lights on the building....aw man 🥰. That was the greatest night in all of my 38 years of living thus far. People ask me which Batman is my favorite and it will forever be Mr. Keaton.
At least it doesn’t look like some woke Marvel crap lol. I’m not sure why this guy says “that nobody asked for” with almost disdain. The teasers have looked amazing.

@@kadebezruchak7250 why not; it's a great movie
They both have great portrayals of Penguin but if you love realism and what Penguin was in the comics. Farrell's is hard to beat. The Batman was fantastic from the characters, acting, cinematography, music, etc.
We never asked for Peacemaker either….. and that show rocked.
I have to agree with him but they did do a great job with the new Batman
No one asked for a Peacemaker series but that ended up being one of the best HBO series. There is a ton of potential for a Penguin series if they do it right.
Danny found Colin much edgier? I thought he was more tame. Danny's Penguin was biting noses and wanting to drown toddlers.
He's doing a deNiro Al Capone impression.
I’m a big fan and I didn’t even realize it was him, even still I can hardly see or hear it aside from when he raises his eyebrows when asking “do you know my reputation?”.
danny devito had the chance again as the 🐧with a nice update 🦇
I have to agree, batman returns is quintessential 'comic book representation'
The idea of a Grounded and Realistic approach to larger than life wacky, insane characters is Fun and in plenty cases seen as more Prestigious and Cinématique,
But these are Batman villains, even with Ledger I wouldn't trade a hypothetical 'Real' sociopath who paints his face over Nicholson and Hamill's literal CLOWNS THAT FELL INTO VATS OF ACID AND SURVIVED!!!
Davito nailed the penguin
It's interesting that Batman evolved 30 years after the making of Batman Returns and Devito shared Tim Burton's Gothic Halloween like theme compared to neo-noir films that focus on the crime element than a lot of the action adventure. What Batman brought in the Tim Burton films is what a serious live action film can look like that's true to the comic books.
Batman Returns was in a fantasy world compared to 1990 Dick Tracy and it takes you out of your realm and puts people into Gotham City.
Danny is right...BR all the way!
_"God damn it, Frank!"_
I really don’t think that the penguins are comparable. But for the Cat Women… I prefer Batman Returns.
Keaton.
You got to pay the troll toll to get inside the boy’s soul
He’s great but I feel this should’ve been Robin Lord Taylor
seeing danny growing older makes me sob
Devitos penguin is definitely the best looking to the comics. But Collins penguin is definitely godfather intimidating.
Danny's penguin is iconic!!!!
I love Danny devito and his penguin. But Colin takes this one.. easy.
"that nobody asked for" yknow this is true but im so fucken hyped for this shit its gonna be golden.
At least it doesn’t look like some woke Marvel crap lol. I’m not sure why this guy says “that nobody asked for” with almost disdain. The teasers have looked amazing.
Very lookin forward to penguin series, Devito will always be Frank to me, love him
The only thing Colin Farrell’s Penguin were “tie-ins” for fans that made the Penguin iconic. His umbrella, Tuxedo w/ long coat tails, a penguin companion/waiter, monocle?
ohh wow he saw this my god this guy legent
I think the Penguin series on HBO Max will be very interesting Colin Farrell did fantastic job Colin Farrell is very underrated he's done some great work of course course Danny DeVito did a fantastic job as well that was more of a comic book character can't wait to see the direction of the Penguin series
I'm so sad to see Danny so old... QAQ
I didn't ask for your youtube channel either....but here I am .
I think Danny just took Buster Meredith's Penguin to more twisted and darker levels. They were both fantastic. Colin Farrell was okay, but just reminded me of a standard Mob Boss. He should have put in some more penquin like mannerisms, especially a more subtle wa wa wa bird sound after he talked or laughed.
Bro what💀

So Danny devito perfers his own movie n his own version of penguin. I'm stunned
I have to agree with Danny. The OG’s keep the crown.
Collins penguin is like the one from the xbox game, much more believable imo
