I think Crossfit's biggest issue is that they focus more on just getting high reps and less on proper form. I've not found studies to support this, but anecdotally it seems like the Crossfit community has more injuries. It is one of the few places where we see rhabdomyolysis in otherwise healthy people. If they would just back off a little and focus more on good form it would be much better.

We don't have any data demonstrating higher injury rates, and the organization that spread that rumor was recently sued for defamation when it was leaked they paid people to lie about injury reports.
We also don't have good data demonstrating injury due to technique error in any strength sport. I'd recommend looking at some of what Barbell Medicine (Dr. Jordan Fiegenbaum and Dr. Austin Baraki) has said on the issue.
That being said, yes, at the very least we want good technique for efficient and consistent training effect.
