  • A full tour inside and out, and all around the Rain Lake Ranger Cabin in the west side of Algonquin Park. An amazing, rustic log cabin that you can rent!

    Only problem with the cabin is a huge parking lot is right beside it. I ended.up helping 3 differnt people with they're cars by the time the week was over which is fine but I go for seclusion to algonquin and there was none at this cabin, but it was the only you could rent during Corona

      I was concerned about the proximity of the parking lot but I found it to be a non-issue at night from the evening until morning when all paddlers were out at their campsites. It was busy during the day but then I was the one out paddling. At night it was like the apocalypse had happened. Lots of cars but not a soul to be seen or heard. At least with the leaves out seeing the parking lot from the cabin was almost impossible. I was there in the first week of July.

    I Love Rain Lake.. But the Cabin is right beside the Parking Lot.. That Parking lot gets really busy too.. Just something to consider when making your plans.

    • @Roymac01
      @Roymac01  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes it is very close to the parking lot and that was one of my concerns initially, but once the evening sets in everyone has left for their campsites and you end up being totally alone each night. The parking lot is hardly at all visible from the cabin and not at all visible from the firepit and the dock...at least when the leaves are out. The nights were dead quiet during my 4 night stay.

    Is this what they call a dry cabin? Where would you get your water from? Thank you for the video, it seems like a lovely place!

    • @Roymac01
      @Roymac01  Před 2 lety +1

      Correct! There is no running water here so you need to bring your own. At least there's a sink to do dishes.

      @@meclam3649 You can't book the ranger cabins online. You need to call the number on the Parks website and you can book 5 months to the day in advance. Be warned though you really need to plan ahead and call at exactly 7AM five months before to get it! I tried to get a different cabin for this summer and called at 7AM and still didn't get it.

      And sh*t . See those white roses on the campsites too. When that camp chilli starts to ferment you don't have 30 sec to walk.I had a ripper on Big Bob lake after soiling myself while sitting up to put on boots.Early May and there was a brisk wind coming off the water .
