@jesscasey3788 I have the green one. Maybe purchase both and give one for the holidays? Honestly, glamlite palettes for me are a bit too dark. I always have to incorporate lighter shades. I think shroud has one that's very similar tones.

I love that you’re enjoying Halloween in the US! I know exactly what you mean about your inner child. I’ve grown up with Halloween in the US and I feel very nostalgic about the more goofy and innocent aspects of Halloween. We saw it in cartoons and in advertisements when we were kids and it’s something that I always feel a keen sense of nostalgia for at this time of year.
I completely agree with your opinion about the melt palettes! They are nothing at all to write home about and I never understood the obsession lol.
I do love my 420 and Gemini palettes (minus the shimmers). As Angie said though, there are similar palettes out now that are better quality. I can't believe melt never worked to improve their shimmers after years of people complaining. I also have mary Jane. I always love my look but man, it can be hard to work with. That makes me reach to other palettes first.

I appreciate the retrospective critique of melt and our collective obsession for the products
I think Melt had interesting colour story ideas and mostly really good mattes (although also sometimes harder to work with) and the Muerte and Vida were so different back then. But now there are way more brands doing better colour stories with better mattes and way better shimmers. And Melt just didn't evolve, neither formula nor colour story wise. Like with everything else, you gotta go with the times or be ahead of them. You snooze, you loose 😂 Oh, and the Bella Beaute Bar Basic Witch pallette is definitely the levelled up version of the Moonspell vol.1. Notch got the witchy vibes, not straight up spooky, but rather fantasy / witchy.

I'm always surprised how much more I like most of the colourstories when they're swatched than in the palette... I see the palette and am just "meh". And then I see the swatches on your arm and think 👀👀

I LOVE the P.Louise Halloween -palettes ❤❤❤ The hokus pokus one I got in the budget box and I ordered the other one. And I also have the Helaween palettes which I also love so much. Beside these palettes, I'm really not into Halloween and I don't have any other Halloween-Palettes...

Haunted Pumpkin by Give me Glow is one of my favorite Halloween palettes.
A Halloween-ish palette you _didn't_ mention was the Hauntingly Glamorous palette from Unearthly. It is one of my favorite palettes _of all time_ and I use it _constantly_ all year round. The colors are just gorgeous and blend _so_ well.

That's normal for a non-native English speaker not to be perfect, especially when they didn't grow up knowing about our cultural phenomenons. My husband is from Mexico and has been here 15 years. Angie still speaks much better than him only being here less than 2. I think she's doing very good. English is one of the most difficult languages.

Couldn't agree more with your comment about the similarity between basic witch and moon spell vol. 1! I was always sad that I wasn't able to grab the moon spell palette, so I JUMPED on the basic witch palette when I saw it (it's my first bella beaute bar product). I still prefer the packaging on the moon spell but there are more special shades in basic witch, so missing out before and getting the basic witch now is a win IMO

The only palette I've got that can pass as Halloween-themed is 669 by martine. I really enjoy the quality, and it's got some fun greenish greys that work well with a yellow undertone. I too had a moment where I was ogling Melt's Beetlejuice collection. Ultimately decided to build my own Lethal palette with the Waiting Room colour story - I was able to add a purple, a silver and a blackened blue to it. This made it way more complete and versatile to me - do not regret it at all. Melt's packaging and presentation for this collection were really good though!
I caved and just ordered the palettes from Glamlite, the Scooby Doo duo and the Friday the 13th palette. I didn’t think the duo was available but it’s on sale if you grab both palettes. If anyone knows anyone that has the latest collab palette for The Haunted Mansion with Colourpop that they’re selling, I’d be interested! They aren’t planning a restock as of right now but I really wanted to pick up that palette.

I was really peeved that I missed the Beetlejuice from melt, even last week I saw the green one on EBay for a really high price and was tempted! But…. Thank you Angie, you changed my mind! I agree with you on how indies have really opened the door on color. Lubar beauty compared to that Basic Witch makes LB look like old Coastal Scents sets.

The moonspell 1 is my favorite lunar beauty palette for sure but again a green and purple color story.
The hype for the melt and lunar beauty palettes was 100% based on the fact that the color stories were fun and diff at the time, the beetlejuice nostalgia for melt, and the strength of influencer marketing for lunar/manny.
Now influencer marketing has waned, famous IP collabs are a dime a dozen, and we are at a point where mainstream brands are including duochromes in palettes. The lunar palette I can see going tik Tok viral due to packing, but I don’t think melts collab would have done as well with the quality issues.
That being said I do think color stories were more fun back then. Rn they’re all either pinky neutrals or suuuuper cool toned. Two palettes I use around this time that aren’t Halloween but fit the vibes are norvina’s vol 3 and colourpop’s good sport!

I had huge FOMO over the Melt Muerte palette after it sold out. Like, for years I thought I had missed out on that one.
And then they rereleased it and I realized that I have all these shades and I can easily dupe it out and made the conscious choice to not buy it.
It was just that at the initial launch the colour story was pretty unique and I still think the theme and design was STUNNING.

The color story of theBad witch club from giveme glow really apeals to me. Very colorful and bright. But I've seen from videos that the quality is not amazing.

I just bought the Friday the 13TH palette… I am not a fan of spooky,scary things, however the color story is very unique to my collection and can’t wait to receive my order.
Nomad said they're bringing Haunted Europe back in 2024! I missed out on the first release.
I really like the look of Hunted Europe by Nomad - both the color story and the packaging... I hope they one day "renovate" and re release it - I just dig the vibe :) But I agree - adjustments can benefit it - I'd love a couple of shimmers to be replaced with mats I think... Same with ghost town for me - I'm not sure I need so much bling :D
In the one Odens eye palette I have used the shimmers are all very foil-y, which I like. I am a little confused about what all the finishes are. Would you say the shimmers in your Helaween palettes are also mosty foils?
Ill be honest. I totally get the melt thing. And i get ehat ur saying about thise palettes. Vut i love veetlejuice sooooo much and so sad i didnt get thise palettes. Id give snything still to have them. And i eish smeine would do an Edward scissor hands palette because that's my top fave. Yes i know wicked widow has but their palettes dont seem that great tbh.

A few times in this video, you called movie-themed collectuons are collabs. Are the brands working with people who worked on the movies, or is it just a licensing deal? Do brands need to license movie rights to theme a palette after a movie?

Maybe I got a bad one, because I had the worst experience with that specific Nomad palette. It was basically pure powder & turned to dust on my skin. I just gave it away.
That ColourPop Haunted Mansion palette sold out so fast and never restocked. Basic Witch was my next choice, but with a 6-8 week pre-order, it would arrive long past Halloween. Disappointed 😢

I dont like the glitter eyeshadows from colorpop. I got glitter in my eye one time and I thought I almost my eye. It was red for two days. I already wrote them not to put glitter eyeshadow anymore on their palletes. I dont want anyone to go through that. It was painful.
Was Melt Muerte Vida a halloween release?
I counted is as a Dia de la Muerte release, which is a different thing (I might be wrong)
Dia de los muertos is def a separate thing from Halloween since it’s a Mexican tradition of honoring their dead. American culture usually lumps the two together tho 🤧
