- Review: Very neat Sonic mod that came out of nowhere, I just had to check it out because the songs and artstyle seemed very appealing to me. It's not much (hence why this review isn't too big), but for what it delivers, it's pretty damn good.

Alright, for real now, that was a very well-done fake-out.
I knew from the beginning that this wasn't gonna be just an ordinary Sonic mod, but even so I still got caught off-guard somehow. The hints are just subtle enough to indicate that something's off: the fact that this mod came out of nowhere, the vague description of the GameJolt page, the name being a play on "Rodent Trap" (I assume) which is SO clever, and so on and so forth. Even the events after it's revealed are really fun.
Fake-out aside, I was also very impressed by the transition to the menus. It all looks so polished and smooth both art-wise and coding-wise, and it totally sets the tone for what to expect for the future of this mod. The extras are also a pretty good treat to look at if you're looking for more content to get out of this short preview.
I don't cover EXE related mods often on this channel, but this one piqued my interest enough for me to do so for its quality and cleverness. I've heard this was in the works some time ago (as it's meant to be a direct continuation or spiritual successor to the original Vs. Sonic.exe from what I know, correct me if I'm wrong) so they definitely have more things planned...

This mod is honestly better than any other Sonic.EXE mod i've seen. This one just feels like it has so much more soul. I really hope this one can be finished, and perhaps finally become the TRUE best Sonic.EXE mod.

btw lord x's creator is on this mod as one of the directors, and its been in devepment for a long time being kept very secret, which is the reason for all the concept art. if you've seen anything about a song called "subterfuge" thats an upcoming song in the mod (more updates are planned)

Back then, there was a official Vs. EXE revival called “Sonic.EXE Legacy” or just “Sonic Legacy” and one of the extras are indeed titled “Legacy’
Which means this is the so called Sonic Legacy mod ppl have been waiting for, in a different name.

@@patobuxas9446 Fun Fact: when you first download Rodentrap, all the internal files appear "normal" as in having nothing Sonic.exe in it at all. Once you play through the songs, it changes to become the proper Sonic Legacy mod.
Even the name is a clever pun / allude to the phrase "Rodent Trap" since the logo on the fake title screen has a capital T.
ok so i like how when you first open the mod it seems like a generic normal sonic mod, the menu looks like the old psych engine, and the first song seems like "yeah this is a nice little wholesome sonic mod that sounds kind of like the old fnf mod songs" with the slightly old and bad sonic vocals in the song (no offense to the people who made the mod I'm just trying to explain it to the best of my power).
but then you get to the second song. sonic actually is singing vocals, like real vocals, and the beat of the music is more chill, idk how to describe it, but something feels off, like this isn't a actually "yeah this is a nice little wholesome sonic mod with a little jokes" it's more like a "yes this is a sonic mod, a really good sonic mod and is NOT like the old mods".
once you "beat" the second song, it transitions into something unexpected. EXE?!?!?! Surprise. this is actually a exe mod disguised as a normal sonic mod. which is fucking awesome because it actually makes the faker form convincing to the people who are playing.
once you ACTUALLY beat the second song you see bf's dumb little face in the reflection of a computer monitor, after that it transitions into the new menu screen. a actual computer. which is cool as FUCK!!!
I love everything about this mod, the art is amazing, and the fact they actually tricked me into thinking this was a normal sonic mod with the name of it, the first song, a the first half of the second song is insane.
10/10 would play again!!!

@@jaywarudo yeah i know, here is a better way of saying it i think. the vocals remind me of how some of the old fnf mod chromatics sound. the old feeling it gave me made me think that this was gonna be a nice chill sonic mod (hopefully i explained it better)

Btw I love how Aizakku playing the fnf mod made it also look like a normal sonic mod. It was amazing for the theme of deceiving being carried into a gameplay mod.
it's more of a spiritual succesor more than a continuation, it has some people who worked on the original mod, but they said its it own thing.
X kicking a dead animal towards boy.xml then laughing to himself just makes him look so young.
Because he plays on downscroll you can't see but he actually normally kicks the health bar to give himself more HP.
