Thank you! I am a Chinese who wants to apply for a South African visa from the US. I had several visa appliaction experience for other countries before, but it's so hard to find detailed information for South Africa visa. I don't think the VFS works for my city, so I may have to book appointment with the embassy directly, which is a pain bc they don't even have a portal for that and you have to email for an appointment. But other than that, I think your video is a lot more informative and straight-to-the-point than many other videos I found. Knowing no need to book an actual flight ticket does help a lot!

Hi Brother thanks for the info. I live in New York and work as designer for the state of NY as a contract contingent worker. I want to visit S.A. and move there if I like it. Im visiting to see if I like it because i want to live there, so do I still have to write an Introduction Letter explaining that I work for the state of NY? If you are a U.S Passport holder, then you don’t need a visa to visit South Africa.
South Africa is visa-free for United States passport holders who plan to visit within a period of 90days.

There won’t be any problem if you have valid documents supporting your visa application. Get an official invitation letter, signed by your friend stating he or she is you inviting and hosting you in South Africa. Attach the necessary documents and you are good to go. Being a Filipino is not a problem at all.

With this regards, you can only write a self introductory letter if you state on the forms that you are self-employed or operate your own business… If you state on the visa forms that you are employed and fill in the company’s name and details; the visa consular would require you to submit an introductory letter from the institution of which is that states on the form as your employer.

A long term South Africa visa takes 4 to 12 weeks, depending on where you submit. When you submit your application abroad, you'll wait approximately 4 to 8 weeks on an outcome. This waiting time increases to 8 to 12 weeks if you submit your application in South Africa… In your case, there might be a problem with ur application, for applications don’t take insanely long unless there is something suspicious about the application. I advise you contact VFS/Visa Application Center in ur country or where you submitted ur application for reason on why ur application has taken this long.
