    Another interesting fact is that, after the rejection, two prototypes were handed over to NASA and they did some experimental studies on it. The first one had an ACTIVE SUCTION TITANIUM GLOVE in the left wing with 0.0635 mm diameter holes for sucking up the Turbulent airflow over the wing. The 2nd prototype was fitted with GE F110-119 engine and was able to supercruise at 20,000 ft at mach 1.1. Basically a lot of modern advancement have already been tested on this aircraft and no surprise that US considering this design as base for their new 5- gen fighter. May be it can even fit the TVC from F-16 VISTA.

      It's not gonna be 5th Gen. As it is mentioned, 5- gen instead of a 5 or 5+. It's gonna have 5th Gen tech but no stealth, so it'll be better than 4++ but not quite 5th. It's because USAF had realised that most it's targets are poorly tainted it ill-equipped air powers... That is, if there is any air power at all and operating stealth is unnecessarily costly. That's why they developed F-15 EX even though the Raptor was supposed to replace the Eagles. Sabbir is going on with F-16s.

    • @roy5815
      @roy5815 Před 2 lety +2

      Also, to TVC is unlikely, US has realised the importance of BVR and operate with very high degree of situational awareness, specially with aircrafts like F-35 and P8s in the system and net centric warfare. So if they get WVR, something has gone very wrong or the enemy has no idea that they are there. So TVC won't help them too much in the first situation and it isn't required in the second....so why waste thrust numbers on a tech that is statistically unlikely to be used.

  • @boejiden7093
    @boejiden7093 Před 3 lety +2

    I dont think the US really needs to replace the f-16 as of yet. But the f-36 or King Snake is just under development so that when the time comes to replace the f-16, they can do it easily. The USAF has a lot of unupgraded f-16’s for air national guard roles since those aren’t being deployed to war zones and are primarily used to intercept civilian aircraft. So the king snake is just being developed as an option.

      Smothbore are smoth from inside like the barel of shotgun. So basically you can fire any thing from it.
      Rifle guns have very distinct pattern from inside which help projectile to gain revolving speed. So ammu have to design to face it's pressure. It's more like a rifle.
      A revolving round has greater speed and penetration as well as lesser deflection from the trajectory.
