I think this was Millie's best episode, she's the best host! Please give her an extra treat for her hard work!!
I'll give her some millet to show your thanks to her xD
Give her a shrimp
She needs a new co-host though. 😂😂
Went to a new local pet store and saw almost that same troll set up on his counter near register. Sand, wood, a few plants, a nerite snail and an overhead desk lamp in less than a gallon. I inquired about it and was suprised at his answers like Betta's don't need space heater or filter "cause they breath air" even though the surface was covered in duckweed.
As a long term Kuhli Loach Stan: they are one of the goofiest and cutest pets in the aquarium hobby, and not many things in this hobby are described as "cute"
Woohoo 🎉 happy FTR Monday everyone!! Go forth and dirty your hands. Go for a walk, cuddle w non wet pets, do your tank maintenance and have a wonderful week!!
great tips for gaining happiness!
I found this channel from searching for “fish tank reviewing” and im so glad I did, been making my mondays so much better even when im sick ❤ :]
awesome! welcome to the channel :)
Cory gang! Happy Monday, everyone!
Just saying that kinda made my day 🥹
It is so great to see main host Millie letting cohost chirs be there❤
OKOK
QOTW Classic aquarium gravel. I've been experimenting with sand capped worm castings in terracotta pots, and that's been working well for about five months now. There is big healthy growth, but I struggle with Mtn Dew. Have a blessed day 🙏
good stuff good choice
Seeing all the kuhli loach and noodle fish videos made my day! I love the devious noodles. Just the other day, I added a new plant to the tank (it wasn’t labelled when I got it but it’s some sort of curly grass looking carpet plant) and at first Udon (black kuhli loach) kinda wiggled around in it before moving under the mopani wood in the tank. Few days later I notice the plant was uprooted in one part and I now realise that Udon has been burrowing under the new plant and unearthing part of it. It’s currently a losing battle 😭
Qotw: I haven’t had many tanks yet, but I usually go with sand or gravel. Gravel is a lot easier to clean when doing water changes, while the sand looks much nicer but harder to clean in water changes. If I were to get more tanks, I’d definitely want to try out other substrates.
yay!!!
Happy Monday! Thanks for the video and for sharing your tank updates, it really starts the week a little brighter 🐠💕
aw ty I'm glad it helps :)
OM wonderful GOD! I’m in love with the first Berta “bowl”. I need to do this now!!
haha xD
I mostly use natural gravel and generic oil absorbent from the auto parts store. The only commercial substrate I use in a couple tanks is flourite, which like the oil absorbent, is capped with gravel or sand. I only use sand in one tank and honestly I wish I hadn't, just because I hate having to syphon mulm all the time to keep it looking nice.
coool!
I really only have the one tank, but it's black sand and I love it. It was snail only for a few years, so a ton of mulan built up until I thought it'd never clear.
Added blue dream shrimp... One month later, all their feeding has cleaned the surface til it's shining. They love to stir things up and stop buildup from forming
I go with the classic sand and a special black gravel combo. (It's used to grow plants and has beneficial bacteria for the tank)
You made Millie look like she was laughing, genius 🤣🤣🤣
haha she always laughing at me
@@FishForThought well you're a funny guy Chris and you and Millie are too cute, the cutest things on CZcams 😂 thanks you and the gang always make my day and week and I am glad that you are showing more on your fish and tanks 😊
I was watching this video and a moth came down and landed on my hand. I didn’t want to disturb him so we watched the whole video together
Thank you very much for an amazing Monday once again Millie & Chris. Aquasoil is on fire ❤
thx Ian!
These episodes need to be longer 😩 they are over before I even know it
good thing there's like... 207 episodes xD
@@FishForThought I guess its time to go rewatch them 😂
Those are actually rosy barbs in the anubias tank, they get bigger than tiger barbs so *definitely* need a bigger tank. However I also see ember tetras which are a *much* better fit.
That next tank is somethin else though, very jungle! That is one lucky betta, has no idea how lucky they are
yeah for sure!
11:25 that "fishtank" looks like those enrichment ice cubes full of food they give to zoo animals in summer.
It looks like the turtle tank from the buffet was mostly drained there, probably for cleaning. The decor for it seems to have the water line higher up than it's current point.
good observations
@@FishForThought A lot of the places do tend to heavily clean their aquariums and indoor ponds...a lot got rid of them because of the work in making sure you don't end up with a horrible smell that drives customers away
For our last project we tried pebbels as substrate. And we regret it. It looked pretty cool and i loved it at first, but man its frustrating to clean. If that wasn't enough its impossible to feed the fishies in there. We have a little bowl now to feed them in, but they always manage to kick the foods up and out of the bowl. Then it just slides between the pebbels where the bigger ones cant reach it anymore. We have Hillstreamloaches in there and the babys love to squeeze between the pebbles. Everytime we vac the substrate i have anxiety levels going through the roof, because i fear i am gonna squish and kill them between all the pebbles. So i wont do that again, except maybe for a tank with exclusively mid/surface swimmers that don't make much of a mess...
Gonna try and replace the pebbles for sand and see how that goes.
Hello, I'm the Brazilian guy, and I'm talking about Brazilian things again, the UFO case you saw is from the city of Varginha, and this is a "serious case" with supposed military participation, supposed recovery of alien bodies, autopsy of alien and participation of the US government, which allegedly negotiated the trip of the first Brazilian astronaut to the ISS in exchange for the alien's body.
It's clearly a conspiracy theory, but it has some points, like some mysterious negotiations between the Brazilian army and the US Air Force that week, and a police officer supposedly killed by the creature and supposedly two firefighters as well, but in the same way that the Brazilian people does with anything, this "case" became a huge national meme and a fun story across the country
always love your videos- found you about two weeks ago and I've been binging all your past stuff xD
This has gotten me interested fishkeeping so much, and has led me to do a lot of research and get into other fishkeeping content creators.
I am looking forward to one day sending in a planted tank for you to review
Last big fish is a grass carp. Used to help keep ponds clean. Illegal to catch in Florida.
I don't even own fish, but go hard for this channel. It makes me want fish again.
dang, thanks man I really appreciate the support! Hope you get into the hobby soon :)
I love how you talk about the alge on the anubius... you should see my tank lol I have some serious alge issues and I have nerites to try and battle it out. It's definitely better but it won't go awayy. I literly have to scrape my anubius leafs because of the alge
the tank in the back for the first one looks amazing
ikr
I have a single 10 gallon tank that I set up in 2019 for a betta, using tan/“natural” gravel. Recently I found an opened-but-mostly-unused bag of Fluval Stratum at a THRIFT STORE (of all places) & I’ve been putting off re-scaping my tank until I can afford some new plants & maybe a new light.
Kelpie rider here, sorry that green thing isn't an actual plant, it's a decoration that had plant seeds in it and had fake moss glued to it 😂😂😂 omg it being called ai was hilarious and made my day though 😂😂😂😂 I kept the other shrimp, I wanted a variety of shrimp.
Also my biggest ropefish female is 50cm and 22 years old. They can grow up to 70cm in some cases tho. Long noodles.
My favorite substrate for aquascaping is just off white sand! (I always use it to cap aquasoil)
That river scape of yours is great! One of my favorites
you should have a day specifically for loach antics, I could watch them be derps forever
I ordered 3 New separate middle sized tanks just for my bettas to share with snails 😅😅😅 if I get an animal, I like to give them as much space and as natural a Habitat as possible. I am still working on my tanks to get better - adding more stuff with time ❤
That fish tank in the beginning looked great. There was no way someone who made that would put a betta in a bowl right?
I don’t have algae growing in my tank, but it grows on the tube of my HOB filter where water gets sucked up
Black gravel in the aquariums, river pebbles in the ponds... but with aquasoil planters for the lotus and lilies.
And yeah, those outdoor goldfish will poop a lot too, so plants be happy...
Happy Monday!!
2:29 absolutely same, every sing time
I always live for the random funny clips before the👏REVIEW
Caribsea Samurai soil. Love it!
I had that kind of dark brown algae for over a year in my tank. Took forever to remove it and I tried everything from A-Z it almost killed my 2 yr old Anubia but thankfully it’s still good
Good morning cory gang
the fact that chris is so over it in the beginning of the video serves as a reminder of the daily struggles of a professional fishkeeper
Was not expecting the "CPDs-NUTZ" and almost spit out my drink
hahaha
Hiii Chris amazing episode btw you inspired me to get a fish tank tysm!
ayyy hope you having fun with it!
White sand is currently my go to idk why im obsessed with the natural look
If I'm being honest you should make an enclosure for vampires crabs!
5:15 Venustus cichlids are the species you're looking for.
I posted my tank a few days before i changed everything in it. Im waiting for the last of my plants to come in till i repost it!
8:30 Lol I was supposed to complete my article and guess what here i'm commenting this!
Love the humourous "tank"
I got 2 amano shrimp, and that was the greatest idea I had in my entire life. They clean my 10 gal so quickly!
QOTW: Aquasoil capped with natural colour sand is my goto substraight
Millie has the song "September" playing in her head constantly. She's not paying attention
LMAO so true
substrate of choice is always Fluval stratum. I’m not willing to try anything else 😅
I've wanted to try it but it's a bit cost prohibitive. Do you know of any adequate but cheaper alternatives?
I have a 20 gallon high that I've had set up for a goldfish, but it's empty now because my goldfish finally outgrew it. And fluval stratum is fairly pricey for how much I want.
I do have organic garden soil. But it is a pain in the butt to use for aquarium purpose because there's a lot of tree bark and pearlite in it.
Edited; Tropica or Fluval stratum but my next scape with the 55l dennerle scapers tank and dennerle light I got second hand for £40 I want to do a dirted tank. I just finished my 10l shrimp scape and am still working on my 70l dennerle community tank, I enjoy taking my time doing several tanks at once.
I am nearly 10 months into tropical fish keeping and Aquascaping it has become a huge love of mine, I love it so much! ☺️🥰
awesome thx for sharing!
QOTW I like gravel capped with kalahari sand
My Mystery Snail comes soon, super excited :D
4.39... 😊 That the most accurate score ever. 😅
Another Monday made great once more! Thank you for making such fantastic content always!
tyty!! glad ur here!
Aquasoil and sand together is a fave
heck yes
Ayoooo. Idk why but this Monday was taking FOREVER to come. Thank you, I needed this video . This is my favorite CZcams channel, and my last week SUCKED. But now I am starting me week of riggghhtttt❤
sorry to hear that :( but hope this week goes better for ya!
7:36 WHY DID A 2 minute chicken noodle ad come up when you just called a fish a ‘noodle’
Favorite substrate... Bubble gum pink gravel. 😊 no but for real I like the look of sand but hate it's upkeep. I mostly use Fluval soil with river pebbles over top.
in the beginning i was thinking the same thing omg tank in the back tank in the back bro xD
Monday is my friday because I work weekends. So monday upload go extra hard
I want a ropesnake but I don't have room for a 60+ gallon tank because I'd obvs want two.
Hey Chris, my betta fish has upgraded to Michael P. 2.0! He is swimming through couple hoops and he has a better exercise routine than me..I also got him a girlfriend in a different tank she’s a dumbo betta and he’s a half moon. I named him Michael Pish and my girl Harley quish ☺️
Its great to watch an ftr with post workout meal.
awesome :) I gotta go exercise soon too
Does anyone know the CZcams video name for the first fish tank
Time 1:19
I’ve all was wanted to build something like it
I'm watching this late because I spent all day taking care of my fish tanks. I guess that is the best excuse if one is ever going to miss a Monday viewing of FTR.
I’ve never been to a ftr this early
Moment I heard "betta needs a bed" i knew it was a joke
Great vid Crihs, When can we get that fish room tour?
there's a bit of a fish room tour in the vid!
FTR and some boba tea to make my evening a 5/5
sounds like an amazing time
Is the first tankhaving some carnivorous plants as the land mass? It looks great
That Nerite is, or at least when I've bought them, called a "King Koopa Nerite". No joke, I bought them from a very large and reputable LFS a few months ago. That's what they were called.
And shame on you Chris. 🤪 That black water Betta tank was a 6/5. Best black water Betta tank I've ever seen IMHO.
These episodes are a Monday booster lmao thanks man
yay ty for watching :)
AOTW Sand and cap it with either creek, river, pond, planting soil. Nice thick substrate
v nice choiceee
just got my first crested gecko :D so excited for the jorney. His name shall be Gort
Your tanks are beautiful! 😍😍😍
tysm!
Another boring Monday made great! Happy FTR 🎉
YAY
good episode, evolution of the channel is in top form.... also that rope fish is poggers
thx! glad u like the direction it's going :)
Is a 20 gallon good for 12 neon tetras and 2 bristlenose pleco
2:22 is an akdaddy reference
Mr fish for thought please advise, I have taken in a rescue betta which is in super bad shape! He is floating on his side at the top of the tank with what appears to be a huge air bubble in his body near his tail. This air bubble is what is making him tip on his side and stop him from swimming down! Since rescuing, I have put him in a 3 gallon tank with a heater and filter, good water parameters and treating him the same as my other healthy fish but its been like 2 weeks and nothing has changed! Please help me save this adopted betta!
I haven't seen this channel in two years
Fine white gravel with dirt under it
Ok maybe this is a little irrelevant, but some of my cherry shrimps have dedicated their lives to living in my HOB filter, like is it cuz my water parameters are uncomfortable (which is unlikely all the shrimps have been in the tank for at least a few months now), like if I scoop them out from the filter they just go climb back, pls help
Fiji Pink, the real fine stuff just so soft.
I’ve never heard of making a slope out of the substrate for a betta…
Are there benefits?
Chris who uploads in the morning
Asian me 💀
Chris or anyone: Have you tried using a mesh bio media bag to bag your dirt under sand? I saw fish store Matt do this in his channel and I am wondering how this could work? I think I want to try this since I have to vacune my sand in my guppy tank.
My favorite part of Monday - FTR
yooo ty!!
I got a couple betas a few months ago (both in their own 5 gallon tank). They’re both doing well, but since getting them I’ve been doing research and learned soooo much, including of course some of the wrong decisions I made when setting up tanks (2nd one is newer and better to reflect some of my learning :) but wondering if it’s worth it to re-do my first tank? Like I said, the fish seems happy and healthy, but their is fake decor in there and colored gravel (real plants too).. and just wanting some opinions. Don’t want to stress the guy out if he’s happy with what he’s got.
I wish my tanks looked like yours my betta lived to 4 years and 6 months I wanted him to have a beautiful aqua scape but that never happened my plants would die id have alge out brakes and or I'd have trouble cleaning my tank because of the huge peace of moponi wood in the middle I would have to undo my aqua scape just to clean the tank any recommendations???
I bet if they take that carp out from the tank in the last clip the tank water would go down halfway 😅
