Paul wrote this song for his wife Linda because she helped him get through the breakup of The Beatles which really shattered him. He went into a deep dark place while abusing drugs and alcohol and she brought him out of it. The song conveys his love and devotion to her so beautifully.

After leaving the Beatles Paul McCartney played in a band called Wings had many hits and made some good music but my Favourite is the James Bond bond theme Live and Let Die, one of his biggest hits with Wings was Mull of Kintyre best album, Band on the run, an opinion.

That was his first wife, Linda. He loved her so much. Sadly, she died young from breast cancer.
