    Thank you Ed! Just bought a 2019 Honda pilot and the maintenance minder threw a 136 after we had it for a couple weeks. Your videos helped me make sure I was doing it correctly.

    A little something to think about.; loosen the FILL PLUG FIRST to make sure you can refill BEFORE you drain the diff.

    You overfilled your rear diff btw, you had the rear raised higher than the front putting the fill hole up higher so it took more fluid to reach the hole before dripping out the fill hole

    Isn’t the fill to drip part supposed to be when the vehicle is level? When only rear is jacked up, you are overfilling it.

      It takes 1.92 quarts you cannot overfill with 2 and once it's full it starts to spill out.

    I like to pop the top fill bolt first to make sure it comes out.. Otherwise you may not readily be able to refill .. always use a torque wrench for a vehicle to ensure correct specs.. One day the service will need to be performed again and the bolts will not come out from over tightening resulting in permanent damage and a VERY costly repair.. i used a husky one it was $50. I believe those are only 34 to 36 ft lbs of torque.. Honda service printed me out a spec sheet for the ats.. transfer case bolts/oil drain bolt/ rear differential etc..

    I have two question my Passport has 12k miles and the dealer is telling me that they the car's computer is giving codes of 6 and 7 need to change the differential fluid and I also need to change my brake fluid. I have not seen any of those codes show on the screen. I think I'm getting ripped. I do not tow and drive very little because Ihave a 2019 Passport Elite and I barely drove the car in 2020 I have done 4 oil changes because I done a couple of very long Florida trips from NYC.
    Do you have any advise? These two services are around $400

      @eddiesspeedgarage  Před 2 lety +2

      I had to do the differential fluid just a tad later than your dealership is recommending. My passport has 22k on it now and I was never advised to change the brake fluid. Both of these are easily accomplished by someone who is marginally handy. I may do a brake video sometime in the spring. Hope this helps

    Well, number one you need to torque those bolts to 35 foot pounds you just don’t tighten them….
    Second , it calls for 1.9 quarts. Never fell until it just runs out the whole.
    I wonder if this guy fills his engine up with oil till it runs out the dipstick hole ?
    This is not a mechanic !

      I’ve been a licensed aircraft mechanic for more than 30 years.
      “Fill to spill” is very common on lots of vehicles (airplanes, cars, motorcycles).
      I always check to see the capacity before adding oil, but during the rear diff oil change on my wife’s ‘21 Passport, “fill to spill” worked out to just over 1.9 qts.
