When you believe in Jesus Christ and are born again, truly born again, you will give up your sins, not all at once, and not by your own strength, but by the Spirit of Jesus Christ in you.
James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
This does not mean that we are saved by works, we are saved by grace through faith , but when you are saved, works naturally follow. That is what the Bible tells us.

@@jacquilinerapsang3754 We are to believe on Jesus in faith and abide in Him so that He can live through us and we can enjoy Him. I'm simply saying that we will never be perfect this side of life. If you make the statement "we will give up our sins" you are basically implying that if you sin at all it means you are not doing something right. "To give up our sins" is implying we will be sinless. The focus shouldn't be on sins but on Christ and allowing Him to unfold Himself to us so that we'll see more of him. The problem is people get into a mess trying to figure out their sins in relation to God. Jesus died for them. Live for Him and by faith in Him and what He's done and through abiding in Him your desires will change... perfectly though? no.. our carnal nature is corrupt therefor we must walk by the Spirit. That's why there's that phrase "do not walk after the flesh". People need to know that there is a dual nature going on in the lives of those who are born again. Just because you sin doesn't mean you aren't saved. The soul realm fighting for control over the Spirit. Growing in Christ and Christ unfolding Himself to us is a process. Our hearts are desperately wicked. As one who is born again.. I can walk in the flesh and boy it's ugly.. We shouldn't be sin minded.. but Christ minded at best and then sins fall away... but perfectly? no.. When and if you sin.. simply confess it and believe on Jesus for having died for it and forgiving you for it in Jesus. You don't need to spend even two minutes in guilt time for sinning.. Just confess it and move on in faith.. move on in Jesus... He's going to lead you.. and cause you to feel sorrow for your sins.. the Spirit of God is in you.. thank God! That's enough for me... I don't want to sin and I try my best to do what's right but the more I focus on what I'm doing instead of what Jesus did for me and who He is to me day in and day out then I begin to walk by the flesh again.

I remember before I truly became born again I was drawn to proverbs. I was starting to tremble I came across the verse that said the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. I then believed and started to walk with Jesus since. I even remember the exact time and date . It was 6:30 am at September 6, 2015. So I can relate to the boy being born again this way.

  • @DeeGil

Dont forget though the word does say "Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling". Even when you are saved you should still have conviction when you sin, because 1) you are going to sin, and 2) it lets you know you are sinning, and 3)It keeps you from slipping away and being like the world.
Theres a difference between "guilt" which the devil uses (he used it on me once because i was so guilted i wasnt going to church) and "conviction" which the holy spirit uses

He's right on! We've just become so diluted and the Gospel we've heard has become so compromised that we no longer know what truth is nor can we discern it. The same thing happened to the true prophets of God when they came with messages like this and even stronger than this; they came to the very people of God ( or in this day- the church) and what happened: they were rejected, hated...killed.

Jesus said you'll know them by their fruit. If you're saved, your life will bear that fruit, all for God's glory. Sanctification is a lifelong process working in us by God, and repentance is very crucial here. You repent once. And you keep on repenting till you die, even a believer still sin so he'll keep on repenting. But that doesn't mean God's grace is a licence for sin. If you're a child of God, He will discipline and chastise you and bring you back to the path if you sin or ever try to disobey God. There's no sinless perfection as long as we are on earth. And He who brings the work in you will finish it.

    • @JimmyonRelationships
      @JimmyonRelationships Před 2 lety +1

@Virginia Greene One of the evidences that you're saved is the fact that you're listening to sermons and wondering if you're saved. Lost people don't do that. Now, having said that, we aren't saved by what we do. We cannot look to our actions and place our hope for salvation in them. Christ alone saves. When you believe, when you trust, when you place faith in him alone for your salvation, you are saved. It's not a prayer that saves you, it's Jesus that saves you. The bible is extremely clear on that. The bible says fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. And when we're saved, God gives us a new heart. We still stumble, we still sin, but we run to God and not away from him. Believers are absolutely called to kill the sin that so easily entangles our lives, and to work and to love and to sacrifice, but we do that from a right standing with God, never to earn one. Repent and believe and you are saved. =)

It's been two years since you posted this. In that time have you grown up understand what repented means? Have you realized repentance unto salvation is changing your mind about your own righteousness? Have you realized that Paul Washer (in this session) taught a false doctrine?? The truth is you are not righteous. But Jesus is. And if you believe that Jesus fulfilled the righteousness requirement concerning the atonement of your sins you will be saved!
Reject any heresy that preaches one must work to maintain his salvation. Reject any heresy that proclaims a man's faith is proven by his works. That's taking James out of context. To correct Paul (a man whom I have much respect for and have met personally), how do you know you're saved??? *If you believe in your heart that God raised a Jesus Christ up from the dead*
Trust in His finished work! That's it!!! That is all that it is. Two years ago you were scared because the natural reaction to Paul Washer's message there is to cower in fear because you're probably not producing enough fruit. That's wrong. I haven't taken him out of context. He's been a hero in the faith to me for a few years. I've listened to him more than most. But he's wrong. Calvinist Lordship salvation is heresy

So yeah, lordship salvation in the sense of depending on your fruit is wrong, but Jesus is Lord over your life whrher you like it or not, and if you’re not being disciplined or chastised for your sin, if you’re not convicted of sin, If you don’t have a desire to walk in the spirit, you aren’t saved. i don't get why people say this guy is a heretic and teaching works salvation.
Repentance is a changing of the mind and turning to Christ but what he's warning about is that if after that there is absolutely no turning away or conviction of sin there was never a real repentance. Because with true repentance you will not only turn to Christ but turn from your own sinfulness. This is not teaching you must cease sinning to be saved but if you claim salvation and there is absolutely no change or conviction when you sin: be afraid and test yourself to see if you are in the faith

But the truth is this, I had a friend whom thought just by confessing Jesus Christ is Lord and has come in the flesh, he was automatically saved, period. And he claimed nothing could change that. Yet he continued to get drunk, smoke/vape, masturbate at times. I have similar struggles, but the point is there, where do we draw a line in the sand, and follow the Bibles teachings, Jesus's words/teachings specifically? Philippians 4:13 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. We will definitely fall short and make mistakes, but when will we truly overcome? An address can be intended for a specific audience and then be used by the Spirit in wider application than original intent of the author. Paul’s epistles are great examples of this. And both Paul and John addressed the Ephesians. It would be inconsistent to say that John’s address to the Ephesians in Rev 2:1 only applies to the Ephesians, but Paul’s address to the Ephesians is applicable to a wider audience.

Repentance is confessing and learning from sin isn't it? I just don't know if I am really saved. I have confessed my sins. Even going back to things I did as a little girl. Every single thing I have confessed that I have remembered. I have also asked the Lord to help me remember any sin I have forgotten, but have not received that yet. I felt a lot of relief from confessing. Especially one big thing I did as a kid that I regret and feel ashamed of.
I also keep on confessing if I 'slip up' and swear or a bad thought crosses my head.
I have completely stopped some sin in my life after recently learning what a 'Christian' really is. It took a while to get there. It feels great to be free of that but the temptation is always there.
I was told this was what being 'born again' really is and I was 'born again' but I don't know. All my life I knew of the Lord and prayed to him and trusted in him. But I never knew of confessing sin. I feel like that opened the Lord's ears to listen to me when I really learnt what a Christian was. I felt he has come into my life a few times since then. I believe he had tried to warn me of a certain situation recently. Which I ignored which turned out to be painful for me. I had not really known it was him. I think in the past he has tried to warn me of situations, before I had discovered true Christianity. It's a feeling I get inside that feels uncomfortable. I believe it is him.
I am still struggling with learning to not hate or have ill thoughts against anybody. It's really hard. Because it's like you have to live perfectly. It's hard not to feel hate towards someone who has made you or others you love unhappy. I have no positive memory from anyone in my past. When I think back on people from my past, all I feel is pain, regret and sadness. Not a single person has not caused me pain! I feel like to be a real Christian, I have to go to as many of them as possible and message them on Facebook, saying I forgive them. But that is so completely shameful. I don't think I'd ever have the courage to do that. The pain is still very alive and real years and years later
It's impossible to stop a thought from popping up in your head too. Just notice when you have had a thought and ask for forgiveness...that's what I do
I sort of believe in Jesus. I love him. I'm still struggling to believe in him fully though. It's hard, because I can't see or feel him. I just don't believe it so much that it 'engulfs' me. I just am still in doubt. I haven't really felt the Lord in my heart that much at all.
I have prayed to him to help me to forgive and to have strength to live a Christian life. (helping others, being selfless, going to church...all those things that can only make you a real Christian)
I worry because I don't want to go to hell. I'd like to go a church but people prove to be no better there, and end up being more people to add to that 'forgiveness' list.
What do I do??! I try to read the Bible but Christianity causes me a lot of sadness and stress and pain to think about. It's a fight to pick up my Bible or read a Christian book. I hardly ever feel like a Christian anymore. It's like an on/off situation with me. I was told "When you are genuinely saved by having repented of your sins and having received Christ, you can not go "out" of believing. Jesus promises eternal life when we receive Him and He doesn't go back on His promises. Jesus said, "I have loved you with an everlasting love".
But so often I just go completely out of the faith and 'leave' it mentally. To go back into it is a daily struggle of pain. I usually go back into it by seeing something that 'shocks' me. Such as watching the hell video by Mary Baxter, which shook me up a lot (I nearly didn't watch it, but God somehow made me push the play button). Or a 'end times' video dvd my stepfather played, which I didn't want to watch, but I somehow kept turning around to listen to. Both videos moved me a lot. To the point I really felt like a Christian inside. All of that feeling just dies eventually to the 'daily battle' side of things.
I still fight it by listening to Christian music and I do try to read that Christian book. But I'm just so fed up with fighting. It's draining. I don't feel alive doing so. I often am crying or near tears when I fight that pain of not wanting to practice my faith.

The difference being, you come from an intellectual point of view on the scriptures, and for myself comes a view of the scriptures from first being born again of the spirit. The two viewpoints are by nature at emnity with one another, and always will be. I have been through this whole gamit of intellect vs spirit, time and again with others. You will not change my mind, because i know by the spirit what is the truth here, the Holy Ghost witnesses to me. I cannot change your mind either.

how can you be born again and put 100% faith in jesus from an intellectual standpoint when you have not received holy spirit?

  • @Myjesus-1
    @Myjesus-1 Před rokem

I think the biggest deception in the Christian churches is the teaching that there is no escape from the flesh nature while in the body.
In truth, the flesh has no power over those who have truly been Born Again. The struggle is when people try to conquer their sin by their own power, because they have not received the Holy Spirit:
    Scripture says, Collosians 2:11
"and in Him (Jesus) you were also circumcised with a circumcision performed without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ,"
This tells us that Jesus removes the flesh nature when one is truly reborn.
    Romans 8:9-11 confirms this:
"But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you."
    The Apostle John said:
    1 John 3
"Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister."
Jude 1:24 agrees with John's teachings:
"Now to him (Jesus) who is able to keep you from stumbling (sinning) and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy,"
    Scripture also says:
    1 Corinthians 10:13
"No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
If your preacher does not talk like God's prophets and apostles, they are a fake.
When the Apostle Paul spoke about his struggles with sin, he was speaking about his past before he received the Holy Spirit, because he also said:
    1 Corinthians 15:34 :
"Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God-I say this to your shame."
Paul also said, "Those who are in the flesh cannot please God." Romans 8;1-8
When Jesus said, "The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." He had not sent the Holy Spirit yet.
    Jesus told the Pharisees,
"You will die in your sins."
For anyone who dies in their flesh, they are guaranteed to end up in Hell.
    Scripture confirms this:
“For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” Romans 8:13.
God's grace does not allow us to go on sinning. God's grace changes us. God's grace does not free us to sin. It frees us from sin. Decieved Christians have a false sense of security believing that they can sin until the day they die and still go to heaven, but they don't have faith in the power of the Holy Spirit to free them from the bondage of sin itself. Any notion of the freedom that God offers is quickly discouraged by false churches. There is more money in it for them if they keep their followers in the dark.
There is no doubt, countless Christians who have embraced false doctrine have ended up in Hell.
To deny the power of the Holy Spirit to deliver us from sin so that we can live a righteous life is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
    The Apostle Paul said:
"Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord."
    Hebrews 12:14
One who has not been converted to righteousness is not saved.

Lordship salvation like Arminianism are both counterfeit gospels of works salvation. Romans 11:6 If you add one thing to salvation by grace through faith, it is a perversion of the free gift. You can not add law/works to grace. That is to say what Jesus did for us is not good enough, and now we have to do something to save our selves. Then we have something to boast in, because we did something to save ourselves.
Galatians 1:6-9 Though we or and angel from heaven preach any other gospel unto you, than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
The Gospel, one more time. First Corinthians 15:3-4 That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that He was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures. When we believe He did it for us. we are sealed by the Holy Spirit, and are given eternal life.
Again, you can not lose eternal life. John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, HATH EVERLASTING LIFE. Present tense. We have it now. Jesus can not lie. Please do not call my savior a liar. I love Him so much for dying for all my sins so that I can never be condemned again. John 3:18. And only read the KJV bible because all the rest are corrupt. Rewritten by unbelievers.
I would suggest everyone go read the whole book of Romans. Do not stop at the second chapter or you will get confused. The third and fourth chapter are how we are justified by just believing on Jesus as the only way of salvation plus nothing by grace.
I Love all of you and want more than anything to see you all in heaven. Jesus loves you so much He was willing to die rather than live without you. John 3:16 is true. John 10:28-29 No one can pluck us from His hand. Jesus can not lie.

That's wrong! God's word says: "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Rom 10:17). "For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." Repentance,
That's all very well and good, I love the Book of James. When Jesus was alive He preached ONLY to Israel's Jews. Never was His preaching directed toward the Gentile and was not to or for the gentile. Jesus said,
"I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the House of Israel."
      Matthew 15:24.
The Book of James has absolutely nothing to do with us, the Church of Jesus Christ the body of Christ; and is NOT written for nor is it directed to the Church the body of Christ.
James 1:1 tells us who is being spoken to and for whom the book is all about.
James is DOES NOT apply to us who are members of His body, the Church!
We as Christians need to pay more attention to write division to avoid much confusion. See: 2nd Timothy 2:15.
Romans through Philemon are the books that are directed specifically to us, the Church the body of Christ.
The book of Acts is a "transitional" book better explained when you read Acts chapter 15 and on...♡
If you have any serious questions that DON'T involve name-calling or ridicule, I'll be happy to help.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, (everybody) that He gave His only Begotten Son , (Jesus) that WHOSOEVER, (anybody) that BELEIVETH IN HIM, should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Paul Washer calls Jesus a liar. He does not believe what Jesu Said. He preaches a false gospels of make Jesus Lord of you life to be saved. That is discipleship, not salvation. He mixes salvation with discipleship in to one muddy mess.
Salvation is a free gift from God by faith alone in Christ alone. What we do or how we live after we are saved determines our rewards or lack of rewards in heaven after we are saved. Making Jesus Lord of your life does not save anyone. Following Jesus never saved anyone. Judas followed Jesus, but never believed He was who He said he was.
The Thief on the cross just believed Jesus was who He said He was and was saved in an instant. He was not baptized, and never did one good thing. He just Believed Jesus was the savior. Calvinism, Arminianism, and Lordship salvation are all false gospels.

If you never knew what sin was but believed that Jesus' work on the cross has reconciled you to God then according to the apostle Paul you are brought near again. Sin is inherited from Adam, we aren't sinners because we sin, we sin because we are born in sin. By that standard everyone is going to hell unless they believe that what Jesus did and only what Jesus did saves us and gives us eternal life.

How does washer know God is not working in someones life? How does he know that guy sitting in the bar is not being convicted about something we know nothing about like maybe cooking the company books? How does he know that the person that is smoking God is not dealing with promiscutiy? see washer is saying that unless washer can judge you saved by your works then you are not saved. this is really a close skirting of James 4:11-12. Paul your preslavation regeneration is also not worth a thing because first you have not been regenerated nor recived the trinity and that only comes through the blood attonement. and the blood attonement only comes through faith repentence , repentence and confession and that only comes from the hearing of the word of God and the word of God is only effective when the preacher preaches the word and the Holy Spirit convicts. then wait he said what ? Oh yeah Rev 3:20 if anyone hears my voice is talking to all - if anyone. Paul Washer needs to go back to bible college and relearn the truth. this man is sending people to hell

@WITNESSMINISTRIES Could u please use more biblical language. The bible says that those who 'actually' are saved WILL 'experientially' walk out their salvation. That is all Paul Washer teaches, that's what the bible teaches, that's what Jesus teaches. U r arguing with a false notion, believing that I or PW teach something we do not teach. Again, Rom.8:14 "For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these (already are) sons of God". U can not be of the flesh & please God.

Paul Washer does not understand the meaning of repentance. It is the Greek word, metanoeo. It means to change your mind. To quit trusting in what you do to save you, to trusting in what Jesus did to save us.
Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone that saith unto me Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom, but only those who have done the will of my Father.
What is the will of His Father? John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that all that seeth the Son, and BELEIVETH on Him, may have eternal life, and I will raise Him up on the last day.
Those that trust in their works, what they do are not saved, only those who have trusted in Jesus finished work on the cross are saved.
Repenting of sin never saved anybody. We have to have all our sins paid for. Jesus died for our sins. First John 2:2 And He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the sins of the whole world. But only those who believe it are saved. John 3:18

To turn away from sin is not works. Its part of repenting from your old carnal desires and instead bearing the fruit of the Spirit.
We do sin, but we should always press to not go there, instead flee from it.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
      Romans 6:23 KJV

    • @jimkraft9445

If you are a child of God you should live right. But living right does not save you. We live right after we have received the free gift, to keep from the chastening of the Lord, and for rewards in heaven.
First Corinthians 5:5 Turn such a one over to Satan to kill his flesh, so that his Spirit will be saved in the day of the Lord. This born again believer was sleeping with his fathers wife. He was about to lose his life, and his rewards he could have had in heaven would be burned up, but he was saved so as by fire.
After we are saved we still reap what we sow, but we can not lose our salvation because Jesus paid our sin debt in full. We can no longer be condemned John 3:18 But God does chasten his children, even to taking our life early.

    • @jimkraft9445

For the wages of sin is death, and we all sin and we all die, but the GIFT of God is eternal life. What do you have to do to receive a free gift? Nothing.
Romans 11:6 It is all grace, not works, if it was by works, then it would no longer be grace, and if by grace, it is no more works.
God will not accept our works. He only accepts Jesus finished work on the cross as full payment for all our sin forever.
The Gospel. First Corinthians 15:3-4 That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that He was buried and rose again on the third day, according to the scriptures.
Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also AFTER ye believed, ye were sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise. Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit in whom ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. The rapture of the church. Second Timothy 2:18 Romans 8:9 Without the Spirit of God, there is no salvation. With the Spirit we have eternal life.
Those people in Matthew 7:21-23 thought they were saved by works. But they had never done the will of His Father, and did not have the Holy Spirit in them.
John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

Preachers mix salvation which is a free gift, with discipleship. What we should do after we are saved for rewards or lack of rewards in heaven.
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, HATH EVERLASTING LIFE, and shall not come into judgement, but is passed from death unto life.
No one has ever lost everlasting life, or eternal life. If you could it was never eternal from the beginning.

    • @dist221
      @dist221 Před 5 lety

@@jimkraft9445 Thats valid. However I dont think you can just only believe trusting to get saved either. Im not talking about works. It is by faith through grace. And these are gifts from God, we can never earn them.
You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe-and shudder!
      James 2:19 ESV
We are justified by faith in Christ. But bearing fruit confirmes true faith in Christ.
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
      Galatians 5:6 ESV
So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
      James 2:17 ESV
I too dont believe we can lose our salvation. That doesnt mean or give anyone the right to live in sin. Then that person problaby wasnt saved. But thats a discussion I dont wish to dive into.

*Here's how you know if you're going to heaven*
if you believe the gospel of Jesus Christ that's it. if you believe on him(Jesus) and his finished work. You're going to heaven. Don't put your faith in your"changed life" or your "victory over sin"
living a"less sinful lifestyle" never saved nobody.
The Gospel is not an amendment of our ways, to make restitution for past sins, or to promise to do better in the future. These things are proper in their place, but they do not constitute the Gospel; for the Gospel is not good advice to be obeyed, it is good news to be believed. Do not make the mistake then of thinking that the Gospel is a call to duty or a call to reformation, a call to better your condition, to behave yourself in a more perfect way than you have been doing in the past …
Nor is the Gospel a demand that you give up the world, that you give up your sins, that you break off bad habits, and try to cultivate good ones. You may do all these things, and yet never believe the Gospel and consequently never be saved at all.
But The way to be saved is clear
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life
    John 6:47
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
    John 11:25
"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
    John 20:31
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name
    Acts 16:31
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved:
Your life has nothing to do with if you are "really saved" or not. Go to Jesus just as you are and accept the free gift of everlasting life. And rest knowing that you are headed to heaven when you die.
