This reminds me just how hard it is to animate talkie scenes as you can't listen to music. No animator should be without their music!

I'm trying my first animation sketch (as a hobby) for the first time right now and this is actually real motivating to watch!
I do that, especially on the dialogue animations I try, but I end up putting lo-fi lowered down as a way to clear headspace, that and I won’t get annoyed by listening to the same thing over and over… which is funny cuz I end up doing that when making music lol
As a professional animator, this is extremely relatable (especially with the well organized prSelect and with the keys every 2-3 frames).
Only difference for the body-mecha is that I would usually use some calm music like fusion jazz when working at a steady pace, and whenever rushing for a deadline with a last minute note I would put either Devil Trigger or Magic Spear 1.
I have started learning Blender a month ago. Hope I get good enough to understand all your animating struggles someday 😊

I'm not sure the average person truly understands just how deep the audio of every animation with dialogue is burned into its animator's brain for this exact reason
I like how for the dialogues part, there's an exaggerated fan sfx in the background implying how, without music, the work requirea you to listen very carefully to the sounds and can get so tedious and monotonous that, in some point, you can hear even the slightest of changes of the sounds of your surroundings. It also implies that you might be working quite late at night. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for your hardwork; your animations are incredible!
I have this issue too, to solve it I play music low and raise voices high it damages my ears but at least I can function still....

From the thumbnail, I thought this was going to be a long, tutorial-like video, merely featuring your mascot in a few different poses.
And so, I clicked on it, _only_ because the character looks so good that I was going to watch even that - despite not being interested in art tutorials.
I'm glad I was wrong and it turned out to be actual animation of course. But it speaks volumes that I would have been willing to watch a few minutes of video just to see like 4 different pngs.

Same for editing videos (but obviously to a much lesser extent). When I want to do cool timing edits with what my voice says, I have to keep on rewinding to cut at the exact frames.
XD that's true, when i was using source firlm maker some years ago to make sonic animations (actually deleted, i didn't think in the future preservation of my projects, i was a kid :'D) i was literally like you in this animation!!

Lip Sync is actually my favorite part of the animation process.

You forgot the renders part. That's when you take the deepest nap, wake up, only to find that your computer has crashed and all the work has gone up in flames.
I get something similar when writing a script for something versus editing the recording. Though I usually pick synthwave music lol

I love how both 3d and 2d animators have the exact same experience, we may have different mediums but we're all really just miserable little animators in the end
The pain of not being able to listen to music (or anything else) because you need to sync up your editing to audio is so real 😭

It's kind of the same for me as a video editor, since I have to know exactly what people are saying so I can put the right subtitles over the right person. It's easier when it's just you but oh my lord it's such a hassle.

Animation has to be one the most challenging and time consuming things. People underestimate the dedication it takes to the entire process of animation. Hang in there, I know it's stressful. Cute style too.

Usually, when I work on my mangas, I'll turn on some lofi music. But when I work on some artwork and stuff, either I'll turn on some lofi music, I'll turn on some J-Pop music, or I'll turn on some video game music. =w=

I usually just animate the facial expressions and lip syncing first, then do body animations, sectioning out the animation in ways to make it more "organized" I guess you could call it. I have tried animating everything at once, but I would forget some things in doing so. Also animating the face and lip sync first gives me a better idea as to how to animate the body to match the emotion or convey the message, then again, I don't use story boards, I just make it up as I go, and whenever I do have a "story board" it's all in my head as making story boards physically would take all my energy and demotivate me from animating it because I technically already created it, thus getting it out of my head, no longer feeling the need to do it anymore.
12 hours later... she is on the next scene.

i 100% feel your pain. one time i was animating without headphones with my family in the next room and i had to finish up the lipsync and they came in and told my that i should stop listening to what i was listening to because they thought i was watching a weird video, when i explained to them what i was doing they told me to find a better hobby
