I'm 62 years old. My daughter introduced me to the dresden files 3 or 4 years ago. I love the audio books! I have been through them 3 or 4 times. I've listened to peace talks twice and am currently in Battle Ground. I'm also self employed and sell at farmers markets. A few weeks ago I saw young man, late 20s I think. He had a t-shirt that said 'polka will never die'. As he passed by i pointed at him and said 'I KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!' We have since become friends. He comes to see me every week and he has become a customer. Win- win. Ps, I love James Marsters as the narrator!

Simon Vance also does an excellent job with books such as Dune. Highly recommend both of them, but Marsters is totally perfect for Dresden.

What's hard is writing for characters like Michael Carpenter, a good man who is at the end of the day a man and can be anything he chooses. That has always stuck with me.

I think James has a hard time taking compliments from Jim. Not in a bad way, just like he’s embarrassed to get a compliment from someone he really admires. He comes off very humble about his contribution.
His love of Bob is also evident in his voice when he does Bob. It sounds like he is having fun just doing the character

I love having James read me the Dresden Files while I work. But my first experience with Butcher was the Codex Alera. I got to read 2 of the books while I was in prison. When I got out and finally got me a job and had some extra money, I went to Books-A-Million and bought the whole series. Read them all in like the span of 2 months. Then started me an Audible account and bought the series. And I have to say, I could listen to Kate Reading read the phone book to me.

OMG! So glad I stumbled across this interview! I LOVED James Marsters ever since I watched the BTVS series. I fell in love with Spike. When I discovered the audio books (oh so many years ago on CD!) I was thrilled that James was reading them. Now, 20 years later, I still love listening to James read the Dresden files. I was disappointed that the TV series never took off. I still have those episodes downloaded and will watch them occasionally. I absolutely agree with James too....I love Bob the Skull. I always enjoy when you include him Jim! Keep up the great work you two!!! Looking forward to the rest of the series! Cheers!

I love this conversation between you guys. I am a huge fan of the Dresden files, first in print then on kindle and now on Audible. I start from the beginning each time a new book comes out and read/listen from book one though to the latest novel. It will be a sad day when the final book is released. I really hope the 25 book plan becomes 30 or more.... unlike POLKA "Dresden never dies!"
