The thing is, the WNBA has never made a profit in it's entire existence so that's why their salaries are what they are and Caitlin (whether the vets like it or not) is probably the first woman to actually draw audiences to their sport. When the league stops needing to be subsidised and starts to make money then their salaries will start to reflect that.

If you can’t live on that go get a job the other 8 months. Pro football and baseball players did just that decades ago.

@bennwardhaugh3013 exactly they’re only in existence still since the NBA pays their debt after every season since they don’t make a profit. Also ppl say their salaries are to low but they only play 4 months out of the year unlike the men who play 8.. obviously they won’t make anything like the men cause they make a profit but $75,500 which is the lowest she’ll make in a year in her 4 year contract still averages out to 331k a year.. which is very good for a league that makes no money

We owe basketball as we know it to a janitor.... 1891-1892 - Naismith approached the school janitor, hoping he could find two, 18-inch square boxes to use as goals. The janitor came back with two peach baskets instead. Naismith then nailed them to the lower rail of the gymnasium balcony, one at each end. The height of that lower balcony rail happened to be ten feet. A man was stationed at each end of the balcony to pick the ball from the basket and put it back into play. It wasn’t until a few years later that the bottoms of those peach baskets were cut to let the ball fall loose.

I am not a basketball fan but have to say Caitlin Clark caught my interest and watched two of her recent games and parts of two others accepted the opinion of others that her logo 3's were some thing special. The thing that really impressed me was some of her passes they reminded me of hockey's Great One, Gretzky. They did a study of Gretzky about something called long loop neuron reflexes which means he had heighten peripheral vision. It seems that her sense of where players are, where they are going and who is open even when an opponent is jumping in her face is excellent. It looked to me one time she passed the ball backhand to a teammate off to her side steaking up the court who after receiving the ball scored a basket.
