    Doctor what specific brand of burs is precise in measurement during reduction?

    • @Dentrickstry
      @Dentrickstry  Před 3 lety

      You can use any brand burs....e.g. Mani, Strauss, SS white, Komet etc.
      Read the manual / catalogue for each brand...and if you want to be absolutely sure about the preparation, you can measure the bur diameter with a caliper....
      There are depth marking burs as well with most brands...You can use them to prepare the initial depth followed by rest of your preparation.
      Other than that, prep guages are also available in different sizes (0.5mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm etc). You can use those after completing your preparation to determine adequate reduction.
      You can also check out burs by MIK dental...specifications of the burs are engraved on the bur box, serving as an ideal guide during tooth preparation.

    Wen to use diamond bur and when to use carbide bur?

    • @Dentrickstry
      @Dentrickstry  Před 3 lety +1

      I think it all boils down to clinician's preference.
      Diamond burs grind the tooth substance while carbide burs cut through the tooth.
      Carbide burs usually leave a smoother finish.
      I personally use carbide burs for caries excavation, inlay/onlay preparation and sectioning of metal crowns...for tooth preparation, I use diamond burs.

    HELLO why did you put Flame shaped bur with Wheel Shaped bur ?? PLZ HELP

    • @Dentrickstry
      @Dentrickstry  Před 3 lety +6

      Hello Jaydev! i have put them together because either one can be used to reduce the palatal or lingual surface (the fossa area). I personally prefer a flame shaped/ football shaped bur because all you have to do is, position the bur correctly (as mentioned in the video), and run it from mesial to distal...
      Hope this helps you...if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask... :)

    Which is the best bur for reducing high points in all metal crown??

    • @Dentrickstry
      @Dentrickstry  Před 3 lety

      I personally use either the regular diamond burs or carborundum disc to adjust high points. After that I use Shofu metal polishers for a smooth polish.
      You can check those out...they work really well.

    What burs do a beginner need to learn crown preparation and which company to go for

    • @Dentrickstry
      @Dentrickstry  Před 2 lety

      You can start with the burs mentioned in the video for your tooth preparations...
      Mani burs are most commonly used and easily available in India...so you can use those...OR as a beginner you can purchase the crown and bridge bur kit from mikdental.in ...those also work really well

    How to steralize dental burs

  • @angelicafoster670
    @angelicafoster670 Před 3 lety +1

    How to tell the size or rather the diameter of the burr ?

    • @Dentrickstry
      @Dentrickstry  Před 3 lety +2

      So, this is a little tricky.
      If you have observed, most of burs (any brand) have an ISO number, eg. 018, 016 etc.; this number indicates a diameter of 1.8mm, 1.6mm respectively...but, the problem is, this represents the diameter at the BASE of the bur...not the TIP which is what we need....so, according to me, the best way is to measure the diameter at the tip using a metal caliper or any other measuring device.

    • @angelicafoster670
      @angelicafoster670 Před 3 lety

      @@Dentrickstry i know about ISO , but when I cannot tell their sizes once they are scattered and out of their box.
      i'm gonna look for a caliper.
      If i understand correctly While preparing a PFM crown using 016 , i should go all way.
      and use 010 for all ceramic all way.

    • @Dentrickstry
      @Dentrickstry  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, you are right about the burs for PFM and ceramic...
      a metal caliper or metal gauge is something that I have tried and tested, it has worked well for me; it is this tiny instrument you use for checking the thickness of metal crowns (wax gauge is similar instrument with blunt edges)...it works well if you are confused about the bur diameter...
