    Thank you for sharing your building technique. This looks amazing. I love how you showed how to do the router groves and the jig. I have the perfect area to put one of these in a wall that the previous owner left cutout. One question if you're able to answer. The 2 boards you attached to the top and bottom were they cut shorter than the other boards since they were not inserted into routered groves?

      Thanks so much for watching! Sounds like you have the perfect spot to put one of these in your home! And yes, you're absolutely right! The top and bottom boards are cut a little smaller. They measure the distance between the two vertical boards, where the other shelf pieces are 3/4" longer to extend into the dado grooves 3/8" on each side. Hope that helps. Good luck with your shelves and let us know how they turn out! 🙌🏻

    I just love your video! I’m in the middle of a living room remodel. I’m doing this same thing but would like to go maybe 12” to 14” deep, for the opening goes into the garage. Also, I like your router method. Good job girls!!

    What paint was used?
    Was it waterproof?
    Thank you

      We used Behr Ultra Paint and Primer in One. Color matched to Sherwin Williams (either in Tricorn Black or Caviar). Any painted surface would still be prone to water damage, so you'd want to wipe up any spills

      Nope, we just used the 2” brads while building it as well as securing it to the studs in the wall.

      @@2thesunnyside hi Ladies. I finished it up and it was challenging, only cuz i had an already existing cavern or space cut out from previous owners that i still am baffled as to what its purpose was. It was baically a large framed out square, at the bottom of the cellar stairs within the landing area, which on the other side is huge utility closet lol . i wonder what it was sup to be for . funny though when i had wainescoating just tacked up from behind i came around to look to line up cuz i had to match the grooves with a bottom wall piece i had put in as well as make sure the piece i had to cut was lined up. it was fun i love it. i havent gotten around to find a good prpose other than to stage stuff to bring up stairs or to put away in shop. id love send you some pics if u wouldnt mind i reallly liked the one u did here in vid so i kinda tried to mimic as best again thank u so much for responding when iasked a question . you ladies rock. David

      @2thesunnyside  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for your questions. Yes, we did use the 18 gauge nailer, and 2" brad nails.

    I realize this video is several years old but I just wanted to say the way you used the router to cut out your grooves was incredibly dangerous. All it takes is a small kick back and that bit could have cut her toes off. Please be more safe in the future.

    What wood was used

    • @2thesunnyside
      @2thesunnyside  Před 3 lety +1

      We used 3/4" MDF for the shelves and once installed into the wall we added trim molding to the front of each shelf and around the whole unit.

    SHARP. VERY VOUGE. I LIKE IT THAT GRAY /CHARCOAL WITH WAINESCOATING AS BACKING. This is exactly pretty much what im about to begin, likewise i had the existing space already cut out by previous owners so i just have figure it all out . awesome though i love it
