  • One year into RV’ing, I have a system for towing our Winnebago Micro Minnie 2306BHS with a Jeep Gladiator Sport S Max Tow, I’m going through all the assorted gear and gadgets I’ve added to the Gladiator to tow via the “Gladi-bago” combo. Hit the road with me and let's go pick up the RV!

    I’m a little confused about the wiggle stopping clamp. Once the trailer is on and the bars are tensioned that shouldn’t move at all in my experience. If you’re driving around without the trailer it’s a heck of a lot faster to take off the hitch than to bolt on that gadget, and it could save your shins!

    • @AZDIYGuy
      @AZDIYGuy  Před měsícem

      I was getting a lot of banging around back there, enough to make me think something was wrong. Adding that clamp stopped the extra noise. Maybe my hitch shank is a little narrow.

    Nice review, I do most of the same when pulling our Cruiser RV Hitch with my Mojave,
    Mopar has a brake controller that replaces the cig lighter in the dash , nice clean install, I also use the camera on the back of the trailer as a rear view mirror, I just hard wired it to 12 v with a QD for removal
    We keep a 5 gal bucket to put water in black tank, I store it over the electric trailer jack, hang the safety chains on the bail, keeps my jack out of the rain

      @AZDIYGuy  Před rokem +2

      Thanks Robert! I did look at the Mopar controller, but didn't want to give up that 12 volt outlet used by the other widgets. I do need to solve the protection of the trailer jack. I may just use that bucket idea.

    I don't know what year model your Jeep is, but my '22 Gladiator has U-Connect and works with both iPhone and Android phones. Just plug your phone into usb port and you get all the navigation, media and call features of your phone on the entertainment screen, without having to touch your phone. I put my phone in the little space between the cup holders on the center console. That would free up some space on your elaborate dash mounting tree.

    • @AZDIYGuy
      @AZDIYGuy  Před rokem

      Yes, this is a 2021 and does have the same capability and I do have it connected for nav etc. It's just nice to have it up there instead of in the console area during long trips. I've recently started using the Motorola adapter for wireless Android Auto for day to day, but long trips I still like to plug in to keep a charge.

    • @AZDIYGuy
      @AZDIYGuy  Před rokem

      With this Sport S Max Tow, the hitch receiver was included. It also got wider axles, a beefier alternator, fan(?) and maybe some other stuff to get the tow rating up to 7,650 lbs. I'm not sure what weight limit can be obtained by adding a hitch receiver to a Gladdy without one of the tow packages. Thanks for the sub!

      Personally I think the wider axle thing is just marketing. I climbed under the rubicon the Mojave and the overland and the axles look identical with a slight milling difference right close to the hub. Mine are Dana 44hd I didn’t see where they could market any actual difference

    • @AZDIYGuy

      I really would not recommend a gladiator to tow anything up a hill. You will slow down to 30 mph on any decent grade. 260lb-ft just isn't enough torque to tow. Unless all you are doing is towing on flat land at 60mph, seriously-- get a full size truck-- that's what they're for.
