The question was asked if 18 is too young to start out as a self employed window cleaner. This is a reply to the 170 days of lockdown video. Shout out to Bob Jacobs.
hope your enjoying the sun - may be a little bit controversial Question for maybe a future vid Darren ? Learnt so much from you and your vids thus far, in fact, if it wasn't for you i wouldn't have started in the first place. so glad i did :) I have profiled EVERY job i have taken on, from day One, if it doesn't fall into this criteria, its doesn't get on my round 1. Needed to be done with a 18ft Gardiners Extreme pole ( exception when a 22ft is needed for above conservatory) 2. ALL work is done from the ground, NO ladders whatsoever, no jumping gates or over roofs, or through garages 3. No messer alerts, dog chit, massively long grass, debris in front garden etc 4. 1 van stop - with all round access 5. Signed up for GoCardless, prior to the first clean 6. They communicate with me initially via email/FB ( not phone calls / walk up ) = so they can show they can use a PC = so they are capable of signing up to GoCardless All calls or walk ups are referred to book it in through the web site Now im at a point now after 2 years+ of 280 regulars, & reliable gocardless, pre-texted customers who i dont need to lift finger for with zero hassles. Reading between the lines and comments on FB groups and forums, im not a "proper window cleaner" and i will agree, i'm not. I dont take on EVERY JOB. i would say i refuse 2 in every 3 jobs that have come my way, because i want an easy life QUESTION ? would sooner work SMARTER, not HARDER. Question, do you try to keep everyone happy ? Accommodate ALL work ? or as i have done try to make the most amount of £££ for the least amount of effort ? i await your reply Darren and the 50/50 dividing comments on the video that will no doubt arrive :) best wishes from Newcastle - Paul
Great advice Darren I set up at 19 and am now 32 and run 2 vans. Iv learnt alot along the way and my main bit of advice to you is we can all be a busy fool.... Price right and work smart 👍🏻
Hey, if they got the gumption -- I would love to see the Youth of today make a move in a positive direction - usually they are just sitting around waiting 'to be discovered'
Sound advice Darren the reason i keep the prices about 7.50 a house is when a costumer comes out and tells me not to do them anymore because the woman over the road is £5 cheaper i am lets say on on downer , and if i get a lot off that i start to miss going out and get depressed thats why make a living and have customers for over 20 years, but i am 59 and still working and you are in the sun all the best.
Loving the videos Darren, and have certainly implemented some of your strategies. One question and maybe an idea for a future vid; how do you deal with the people that are good payers that say " can you miss us out this time and catch us next time around". I seem to be getting more and more of this lately. Keep up the good work mate.
Hi, I'm a 20yr old kind of inheriting a small window company thats only generating 5k a week. Any advice on revitalizing a weakened window cleaning company? We have PC towers from 1999.
hello mate i have just sat and watched most of your videos and learnt alot of things from them ! makes me laugh when dick head say you dont pay your staff enough.... if i have to be honest and shut the haters down then i will ... you pay your staff well and they earn more than i did serving the queen an counrty so keep doing what you are do pal !! PS thanks for the knowledge!!!

Darren where are you mate, come home and wander around the asda wake up to a frosty morning, its shit here but we love it.
I would kill for a frosty morning - sub tropical climate is great - just not as a prisoner on lockdown coming up to nine straight months now!
:(
Very wise and inspirational advice. We are going to have a sudden influx of 18year window cleaners knocking on our doors. 🤪

Thought about taking the stand up comedy on the road? 😝
if you were buying a system today from a 'brand' where would you go?
The Cleaning Warehouse in Willenhall
What is it with all these spam bot accounts in the comment section? Do one. Great vid Darren by the way 👍
