" ... when did that become apparent to you?"
"Well, when I became a parent." 🙂
Even in interviews he works his word magic
Unreal. ❤
I am sure to visit him daily. His lyrics are so special. It's like listening to an epic novel, somehow all shrunk into a short song. I'm in love with the man. With his songs.
They’re extremely good. I didn’t care much for what Cobb and Jason tried to do on “The Nashville Sound.” The songs were good but that echo ruined the album for me (was good on Cumberland Gap tho) The songs were great but mehhh on the album.
What an amazingly talented person. His songs are so heartfelt. There is a truth to his music that can only come from living life.
Jason is such a beautiful person.
Misleading video title? I was hoping the interview would share his thoughts on songwriting and what he thinks makes a great song. Love the interview, just not the video title.
The greatest songwriters of all time often get that question, and more than 9 times out of 10 they'll tell you they have no idea. Paul Simon has no idea, John Prine doesn't, and neither does Jason Isbell. But in a way, that's probably the most genuine and honest answer they can give, cause what works for one person might not work for another. They may not know what makes a great song, but they know a great song when they hear it.
Agree 100%!
@@luisalonsoecheverria That was a fantastic answer
@@luisalonsoecheverria can't be taught. lyrics are ideas.
I was also hoping for an instructional video on how to write better
Jason Isbell songs are intriguing to me. The titles to his songs are strange to me but I am of another generation. I used to write lyrics, but it was a waste of my time for many years. Jason's writing is like why didn't I think of those words. Marianna Davis
Like which titles?
@@louieo.blevinsmusic4197 guess she doesn’t know
Amazing person and songwriter.
Jason talks to the gods they say...
Having someone wrote it for you…?
Who?

wilco did "on and on" YEARS previous.
exact same concept as vampires . no way he hadn't heard wilco.. many songs about how one spouse will die before the other.. just saying
.. not like he plagerized the music .. only saying that idea is not new.. like at all
He didn't say anything about what makee a great song.
