  • Scientists at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory have created the most affordable carbon dioxide capture and conversion system to date, bringing the cost to capture CO2 down to $39 per metric ton. The process takes flue gas from power plants, uses a PNNL-patented solvent to strip out CO2, then converts the CO2 into industrially-useful methanol. Learn more: bit.ly/3QXQo85

I'm always amazed but never surprised by PNNL's accomplishments. Best on earth.

I agree capturing the emissions at the source/ creating the technology for capture and recycle is the way to proceed...🥰

Wowee! So Cool! ... If only any of the containers were bigger than 2 milliliters... Great PR, you guys- but maybe a little over the top with zero upscale in place.

I'm sure these researchers will give your input the attention it deserves.

This could be a huge deal. Under the radar for 99.9 of Americans. I love this, especially as M85 fuel. Using existing infrastructure. Carbon-neutral.

Great now this to be adopted/offered to companies around the world including China.

China has already been doing this. Inner Mongolia Erdos Electric Power & Metallurgy Co. Ltd made a presentation at INFACON in 2021 that they were making Methanol from the CO2 flue gas from their Ferrosilicomanganese production. However, Natural Gas (the other way to make methanol) is much more expensive over there.

The top 100 companies produce 75% of the man-made C02. Seems like focusing on those first would be a great starting point.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, we may only have until 2030 to come up with a solution. We can't afford not to research the safety and economics of carbon-capture technology.
