So, Mary, you just proved that it is about 80% player and 20% instrument. While not quite the same reception as The Beatles enjoyed when they landed in New York, you are going to be recognized in the States. You are the bomb! Great to see you signing with Rick and Rhett. Enjoy your holiday.
Dude she got recognised with a mask on ..... I'd call that a win
I think it's closer to 99% / 1%. A guitar, no matter how beautiful and/or expensive, sitting on a stand isn't going to make a sound.
Kind of sweet that you are surprised to be recognized in a guitar shop. 😇
@barnett25 ....and her voice of course. 🇬🇧
What happens when I walk into a guitar store that's the title so she had probably the idea of getting recoognized :P
69 likes. Nice
@@BrianthatiscalledBrian Clerk: "Have I seen you before...?"
Mary: "Uh, yuutyuub...?"
Royalty has arrived!
That transition from canned audio to live was SICK!!!!!!!
I thought "wait, did that just happen?" Fantastic!
We’ll played! That B-roll to live was done incredibly well, I rewound and listened to the transition 3 different times. Can’t imagine how long it took you to plan that out, absolutely brilliant! You are an amazing guitarist
@@cmflyer Really?
So delightful.
My 9 year old refers to Mary as the Princess of the Guitar as we view her videos in our den.
High praise, indeed.
Mary wears a mask into a shop and is instantly recognised. True legend she be.
I have been mistaken for someone else on several occasion, and for some reason I was actually hoping this was a case of mistaken identity as well. Mary would realize he is mistaken, then keep trolling him until he remembers who she really is.
There aren't many women as beautiful as she is. She stands out.
lmao I was gonna write that exactly!!! hahahaq
Mary is the anti-Tony Hawk.
Dude it’s a staged video. She’s completely unknown in any place that matters . Fact
I could sit and listen to you play for hours. Happy NGD!
I suspect if you walk into a music store in Austin, Texas or Nashville, Tennessee, you will get recognized there too! We love what you do, Mary!
500k subs translates to millions, even 10s of millions, of views.
To be recognised shouldn't surprise Mary.
I bet some of the other customers in there were LOVING the mini-concert they were getting :) I live close to SweetWater Sound, in Indiana and I love it when someone is really testing out and playing guitars. It's so fantastic to meet other musicians, especially ones who are outstanding players. I've made some amazing Aquaintences just by sitting and admiring :)
I went to a open clinic and meet and greet with Steve Morse At SweetWater
Your just incredibly relaxing and enjoyable to journey with in this format Mary. You just got....something really intangible, quite difficult to pin down about your cadence in life on your vids.
Engaging personality without pretense or any need to push ego to the fore.
You're... i'm sorry but i couldn't hold it back xD
but you are right with what you said :)

She's back in the room.
Ritchie Blackmore did the same thing about 35 years ago. He used to buy dozens of guitars when he was in a guitar store.
2:41 I'm in love with that guitar!
Loved to hear you play, and the different voices of each one of these guitars. This is why musicians I have known over the years have so many different guitars.
NICE singing on Rick Beato's 2 chord video. That rendering of Dreams was terrific.
Mary - there is a lot of love for you in the US!
Can tell right off you feel right at home with the D'angelica. Sounds gorgeous in your hands. Love the Mayer-sounding licks.
Wonderful playing as always! I was in that GC on Saturday afternoon. Didn't dare go into the acoustic area. It was packed to the gills.
I hope you enjoy your time in NYC Mary. I know you’re an excellent musician. I really enjoyed hearing you play this n GC.
Welcome to the Big Apple. You make every guitar sound like a million dollars.
Glad you got a chance to "chill" after the shopping!
The best. Also thanks for the stuff you did with Beato and Shull. Great all around.
Mary, love watching your journeys and listening to you play. Your dedication to fingerstyle is evident in your ever-increasing mastery of the style. I love that ending electric guitar tone at the end of this video. Can you share the guitar, pedals and amp combination you used? It's so sumptuously rich and warm.
D’Angelico make great guitars, I had one of their travel guitars over lockdown and it was super fun to pick up and jam away on. Funnily enough I also gave it away!
I’ve had a jumbo acoustic LAG guitar for 12 years now and I have to say that I rarely find any other that sounds better to me. Seeing you play one was cool
Great video! If you can get to the Martin Guitar factory in Nazareth PA, you will LOVE the museum (and factory tour when they resume giving tours).
Mary,
Love, love ❤ ya. You are in my city. So glad you are in the states. So great to almost see 👀 u. Hope to bump into you out there 🙃🎸
GRATS on half a million subscribers. I remember first episode of Tuesday Talks when you had around 10k subscribers around 4 years ago, I think it was, what a growth in those years.. you gotta aim for 1m subs !
How profoundly gifted you are. And staggeringly beautiful. Listening to you speak is every bit as satisfying as listening to you play. Utterly enchanting. Love ya!
I have that exact same guitar! It’s my acoustic daily driver. It’s a big boy and I feel like I’m hugging a suitcase sometimes, but it sounds great and is easy to play. Good choice Mary!
Cool, I visited a music store over the weekend and bought a Ukulele...it's awesome! And since I have a long background in guitar, it was very easy to pick up on! I'm very much into it...I never thought I'd buy a Uke, lol!
Thanks for the upload, Mary!💜
Hey, Mary-Nice bit of singing on Rick’s channel; it took me totally by surprise. One second you’re walking into a NY guitar store and the next you’re near Atlanta with all our favorite music theory teacher!
👍
Just messaging you just in case. DON'T MESSAGE THIS PERSON! IT IS A SCAM.
Welcome! We have a granddaughter at school in NYC - music production and theater- you could leave the guitar with her! She has a beautiful singing voice.
What a great suggestion
Mary, thank you for another great video and in NYC, cool! I do not shop at Guitar Center because of their business practices of buying out and taking over the independent shops and the small shops. But, thanks so much for recognizing the independent shops in the beginning, spot on!
Cool video. As an intermediate guitarist its was great to see some advanced strumming combined with interesting chord fingerings combined with some barre chords and variations. I can barely do some of the patterns, but it is good to look forward to what I need to learn next.
Music row is great ! The store personnel are very, knowable & special people. Blues On....💙 Enjoy the city sites & sounds. And of course the SNOW !
I love to see Mary Spender spend. But seriously, a very pleasant vignette and marvelous playing from a young lady with charm galore.
The 14th street GC been there for almost 20 years! Bought many great instruments there 😀
Sad to hear that the Broadway got closed though, the staff there was really great and good that they re-allocated some of them
I did this but it was 1976 and it was Manny's Music . Everything was in Black and White ..
Awesome you are here in NYC!!! Enjoy! Stay warm.
First time I watched Mary was a few hours ago when she and Josh Turner performed Sultans of Swing. I'm hooked already. Very talented girl.
Thier Sultans is lightening in a bottle!
Glad you’re in the USA Mary.
I loved Times Square’s store.
Fantastic gesture Mary .
Mary, great sound from that guitar. I hope you're enjoying playing it. Welcome to NYC!
When in New York, visit the following jazz clubs, the Blue Note, Village Vanguard or Smalls.
I was NYC for the Christmas holiday - everyone said - its going to be soooo cold wear thermal -I am glad I didn't.
Always a pleasure Mary..love your videos.
Love this! I stopped in a GC last Wed...been a couple years since I visited one. Was actually looking for banjo, but none, so played a few nice classical guitars and started off playing "Long Island City" (my fav) and some Tom Petty songs. Glad you're in the U.S. again!
I am glad that I stumbled across her channel. Delightful.
M. S. Learning she has star power. Continue gently, firmly and humbly stepping into it.
Nice that you were reconised. Just shows people know you even in the US.
You are an awesome lady. I thoroughly enjoy your content and your uniqueness.
I am quite sure I would recognize your voice immediately if we ever met. Your voice is just so unique and lovely.
I am surprised to see that many guitars. The GCs around here looked like ghost towns last time I was there and the few they had were overpriced. Maybe things are getting better.
this guitar center is in one of the busiest parts of the busiest city. when i visited frequently they had the silver sky in stock for weeks
It's a pretty good store, actually. Have always seen some fun stuff on their wall. Wished I could have bought the '64 Esquire I played there once. Was amused to see one of the custom shop GoT guitars on the wall, but also a bunch of Fenders, Squiers and Epiphones we tried while helping someone get a first guitar. Amused to see Mary there where I would have been very amused to see Mary, er, or something like that.
There were huge supply issues due to Covid and the global container shortage.
@@Jonathan_Doe_ GC had to sell off stock (used) among other things to keep it afloat. A couple years back now. In the midst of the most guitar sales ever they still struggle. Look into the financial decisions they have made over the years….
love this i'm a life time new yorker and still get excited when i visit manhattan
i hung out with Ace Frehley in larchmont when it was open also Bernie Williams
I love “Guitar Center” employees. 😊 So nice...
Welcome to the USA! I am glad you are getting the opportunity to take a trip. Hope to see you in Seattle someday!
That is so great you got recognized and how that happened!
Ohhhh what a glorious feeling to get recognized, you want to be a star sooooo hard, at all costs
Hey welcome back to the states!
Don't really know this channel very well, but when I see a vid I always like the content. I'll be watching more.
as a lefty I'm SO jealous of you being able to play so many different guitars
I know a few lefties who play guitar "right handed".
@@ValWillKay I do that
Oh to travel again! I hope you’re having a wonderful time 💕 It was ridiculously satisfying watching you buy a guitar in the Big Apple 💕
seeing people enjoy their success with genuine humility, amazement and thrill is addictive :)
Hi, Mary. Thanks for the video and the beautiful playing. That Guitar Center is actually the music shop I go to most often. I’m a British expat who teaches in a high-needs school in Brooklyn. If you haven’t decided what you’ll do with the guitar, I’d love to throw my hat in. I give free guitar lessons to students and could do with another one! I hope you have a wonderful trip :)
Oh hey! That's a few blocks from my home and you never even stopped by 😊
Addicted to the John Mayer stop this train strumming pattern, your playing sounds a lot like it, loving it
Looking forward to the collabs with Rick Beato and Adam Neely 🙂
Mary, you are so fun to follow!
You and your music are beautiful. Thank you
One of my favorite things to do is go in guitar center and look as if I’ve never picked one up before then play a original piece after asking them to setup the amp.
You did my home town proud!
Wow thats a guitar shop! Some nice playing Mary 🙂
Welcome back and enjoy your stay. Can’t wait to see all your videos from your trip
The first time you played that D'angelico, I was.. This is it. 👌🏻 Pretty good for the price. The headstock design also for D'angelico is unique. Haven't seen their guitars much here in Ireland though 😔
You play so beautifully.
Bought my Les Paul in that GC 8 years ago while on holidays from Australia!
I do very much admire your spirit and independence, have a fab time!
Mary not immediately going “oh yeah I have a sizeable following on CZcams” bless her cotton socks 😊
I have an Alvarez FD60CSB. Put it into almost any open tuning and use a glass slide, unplugged, and you will absolutely love the tone. At least, everybody who has heard mine swears to that. Lol.
This was cute.. you look like a tourist. Playing was awesome! On behalf of all us New Yawkers… Welcome to NY!! Hope you have a great visit!!
Mary is becoming a star! Love the black guitar credit card. Very Cool!
Lived in NYC for a few years, moved back upstate a couple years ago at the beginning of the pandemic to work in medical devices. funny seeing you at some of my old stomping grounds. 14th street GC has been there awhile, they shut down times square in the beginning of 2020. Hope you enjoy your stay...there are some incredible stores upstate if you ever venture further north!
Whoa. That looks a lot different than my local Guitar Center… my GC looks like a bombed out garage sale.
I love trips to the music shop like that except I don't get recognized by anyone unless one of my friends are there. All kidding aside it looks like you had fun and that's what matters.
A lovely lass and a great mind with brill ability. Glad you're here. Subbed.
Welcome to the Big Apply. You’re my favorite British musician. You go Mary.
There's something special about spending time in a music store. I just spent the past two days at Thomann in Germany. Picked up a nice single-cut electric. The whole place just reeks of tonal-wood and creativity. 👍👍👍😏😏😏
New York City that's so nice they were able to edit out the sound of the taxi cabs honking at everything and everyone. And the smells were as well. No doubt really nice when I was there. As long as you forget about the New York City part.
Thumbs up from Geelong Australia 👍🇦🇺👍👑
Love your videos 💘
That second guitar you played sounded very sweet
I'd have bought that one
This is just the beginning marry your star is shooting up the fill the sky! You and Rick Beato are my favorite CZcams personalities.
Welcome (back) to NY, Mary... We're practically neighbors now - I'm north of Manhattan, about 100 miles up the Hudson River... Have fun with the new guitar !
Oh that Tanglewood sounded sweet !
How wonderful it would be to be in New York and meet you. Just to talk guitars and have coffee for a bit. You are absolutely lovely. I mean that. You just seem looked a really nice person.
I love check-in out guitar stores, unfortunately I don't have much freedom to do so. Enjoy!
I went to their Time Square location several times when I lived in NYC. Great Store!
Love to see you in Florida!
This girl is pure gold
Have fun and be safe
I love Mary Spenders videos, so why am I not a subscriber yet your videos keep coming up on my feed.....time to rectify that ! Yay! I'm now a subscriber 😆😆😆
Just found your channel today binging thru a Sad Gordon day....and I it paralleled over to.
You can keep the dime...
Tremendous
That 14th Ave Guitar Center has been there for ages. I bought my digital piano there back in 2004.
I bet a street musician would love that guitar once you head back home. At least you'd know it gets played daily and is helping a fellow musician make a living. :) Great video!
