This show does such a good job of making you like characters enough that you temporarily forget some of the terrible things about them. Like Khal Drogo's speech, where you (and most of the rest of the audience!) are like, "Yeah! Go Drogo! Wait... no... maybe let's not have so much rape..." even though we've known from the beginning that that's a normal part of Dothraki conquest. The world is so brutal that the writers can make details like that fade into the background when they want to, and then they say or do something to remind you of something you technically already knew, and it's like it hits you right in the face.
Tywin Lannister is the only man in the Game of Thrones who understand how rule a realm. Maybe he is look like cruel, but i think he is just realistic. He is understand how the world is working. And You...dear Snaxan You are very cute. I love Your voice and Your reaction
I enjoy watching this with you and getting your perspective on what's going on. (side note) whomever you chose to be your partner I can see becoming a better person. I wish you well.
Speaking of lore, I recommend that you watch the season 1 lore videos after you've finished the first season. Jorah knew that if they gave him the pardon, it meant they didn't need him anymore. Which meant they were killing Daenerys.
Charles Dance learned how to skin and gut a stag in just one day for the opening scene. He said it was a bloody good time but it took two days to get the smell off his hands.
I have watched too many GOT reactions to count and as most people I was always waiting for the next shock to hit the reactor. This time though I have found myself enjoying watching GOT set the trap for the absolute mayhem ahead. It is fun as hell watching someone get invested all the while somewhere in the back of their brain they are thinking ahead and fooling themselves because of all the stereotypical story tropes that have been shoved in their brains. That is the main magic behind this show we are so programmed and GOT just turns it all upside down and inside out. I reread this several times and don't THINK I left any spoilers so to speak please anyone if you feel like it points to anything I will take it down. I am watching to do that if needed.
Really enjoying your reactions to this series. Wish I could binge watch the whole thing with you and have these intense discussions right after each episode. So many people in my world really struggled with following and understanding this series and was frustrating to talk with about the episodes as they were released. Hope you keep going. It's not exactly because they hate woman that the golden cloaks will obey who pay them. Cersei is the Queen REGENT, just holding the throne waiting for the heir come to age. And Ned is the Hand of The King. They both are not the true rulers, so there aren't anyone who directly commands the city watch, and they both are at the same "rank" shall we say. So, who pays them have leverage. And in this case, the person who pays them is the Master of Coins (Lord Baelish)

Boars are one of the most dangerous animals in northern hemisphere. Those tusks are razorsharp. If its one animal u dont want to run into in the north its boars. Well, wolfs and bears is also top 3
When aegon conquered westeros with his dragons, the kings of westeros should've unleashed every single wild boar in their lands, they could've annihilated aegon along with his sister-wived and dragons
I missed that part where Ned changed the wording to rightful heir. Makes sense now why he didn't get Robert to confirm that those were his wishes. Poor Ned trying to be kind to people got him killed.
Ned is an honorable person, but u are wrong about him believing that if he is honorable others will also be honorable, he will not fall down to others low level due to his belief in honor, the only hope is that his honorable ways spreads in the future generations.. if no1 does the right thing and instead joins the game then the world will forever stay shit
1. Well, Littlefinger offered Ned the Throne and he refrained from taking it. Clinging to Ned would have been very dangerous for him, so he changed the horses. Is is an outright opportunist, who seeks his own advantega first and foremost. Yet, that does not mean, he wouldn't have prefered Ned over Joffree, if he had had a free choice. 2. Tywin as a father? - I think this is the first time, you do not get it initially. Of ourse, moral views can be very different. But I doubt you would have any sympathy for his, once you know him better. And to his children: a) he coerced Cersei in a marriage just for the game of thrones, not caring for her, at all, b) he 'made' Jaimee King' guard and was always very ruthless in pushing Jaimee to aims, which are primarily his own and c) he did show his youngest son, Tyrion, nothing but contempt. There is no warmth at all, no rea reeling in him towards his children. They are just chess figures to be functionalised for his vision of House Lannister. Tywin is ready to do any harm to everyone, if it just helps his case.
After watching her say she wants Tywin to be her dad, I have to say I kind of worry about this girl... It's very clear that while he's a formidable man, he's also not a good man or a good dad from the very first scene he's in. Sadly it's not uniquely her; I've seen some other mild to wildly disturbing reactions in recent years by various other reactors to multiple social/character cues on GoT. 21:36 Well at least she's honest about it.
Ned Stark has too much honor. . .except he purposefully changed the last wishes of his dying best friend and king. Yes, he spared Robert from a confrontation over Joffrey's parentage, but it was still a lie. Sometimes you have to lie, I guess, in the interest of rectitude. Just like, sometimes you have to decapitate innocent Nights Watchmen without so much as a hearing, because tradition demands it and because you happen to not believe in the existence of White Walkers. Sometimes, "honor" is just an excuse for a lack of compassion or imagination. Truly intelligent people find an honorable way to be strategic.
Don't worry there'll be calmer episodes by season 9.....oh wait there was no season 9 was it? hehe. You remind me how crazy I was. So many "I hate this show!" moments but couldn't wait for the next episode.
Eddard Stark is not wrong in his refusal to engage in the ways of the agents of chaos he was among. Traditionally a man of honor makes no deals with subversion. This position is somewhat similar to the saying "give them an inch and they take a mile." What Eddard should have done was defeat this wide swath of subversives in the kingdom like Heracles and Theseus did when they destroyed the agents of chaos. He might then show magnanimity to his defeated foes. Cersei should have been put to death for cheating on her husband. Now to be fair, if anything the people in this show represent at best the most deformed and lowest fall of traditional society where loyalty was the glue. The king would be a center, the center of gravity around which everyone else is drawn (not necessarily by force). For he would be a reference point, as would the other nobles, of the higher possibilities of mankind (which is completely alien to modern men). A true king (or rex) is a bridge between the superior and the inferior worlds. Think of someone like Aragorn (from the LotR books, as he is not displayed in the best light in the movies). They wield powers as Aragorn did, like healing people, or like the Kings of Mexico did in engaging in magical operations to stem some disaster.
No dear, you don't want Tywin as your father haha. I understand though, Charles Dance is absolutely terrific in this series. Incidentally, what woke the White Walkers up has been a huge question in the fandom for years.
Tywin is one of the best characters. You don't like a lot that he does but you can never deny that he's absolutely fascinating and terrifying when he wants to be. I'm sure you will be told this many times. The actor Charles Dance actually hunted and killed the deer that he is cleaning in his introduction scene. Yes it's a real deer and they needed an activity for him to be engaged in while doing the scene with Jamie and he said hey folks I really need to clean this deer that I just killed this morning can I do that. And they said sure. Meaning he really did wipe his bloody hand all over Jamie's face after doing nothing more than rinsing it with water and barely wiping it after handling all of those intestines that were completely real.
He didn't hunt the deer himself lol, plenty of interviews to vefiry it, by Charles Dance, none to prove what you're saying Other than that, yes, it was real deer, he was shown once how to skin a deer by a professional, he was also asked if he is a vegeterain Then when the scene started the deer was there and he did great, but he didn't hunt, and it wasn't his idea that "they approved"
