It is very important to master the door for many reasons:
⁃ For the dog not to get run over
⁃ For safety
⁃ Not to scare people
What you need
⁃ A door
⁃ Your energy
⁃ A dog
⁃ Treats
⁃ A Leash

CZcams! We are back with Dog Tips! What other questions would you like us to make a video about?
-How we can help dogs listen to commands from other people? For example anyone in the house asking the dog to go to their bed, especially listening to strangers or people they don't know well.
-How to safely have a dog off the leash when in public? E.g. in an open field or dog park. Especially if other dogs who might not be friendly come towards them, what to do
-What is the right level of excitement and affection for a dog? E.g. getting them excited to go for a walk? The difference between overstimulation and healthy excitement/ play
@@bookwormbon482That could be dangerous, don't you think? Especially if you have a dog for protection as well as love and companionship. I wouldn't want my dog to obey a dangerous stranger telling them to sit and stay.🤷
How to decrease dog jumping when having an excited dog but high intensity?
Thank you for your wisdom, Mr. Millan. RESPECT! 👊🏽
Thanks!
Cesar, my husband, and I went to thank you, because before we got our border collie, we watched every single one of your videos over and over again, and then when we got her, we would keep referring back to the videos anytime we had questions, and now she is the most balanced, obedient intelligence beautiful 11 year year-old… and all of her life people keep asking us how we trained her so well, and we always told them about your videos! So thank-you very much for enabling us do you have such a wonderful dog and family member!
Yes!!❤❤❤ So happy for you!🎉🎉🎉
You have such a gift with dogs
Gift is one, but years and years of work too
@@anabee8310 yes he does have years or experience but if you ask most professionals, they will say he is absolute natural. Many trainers will never be able to do or read dogs in the same way no matter how much experience they have
@Dogmum99 I agree, at least most of what you said! I personally, don't call myself a dog "trainer". I just say I work with dogs. Soon, I'll be working with dog who's owners say she's afraid of storms & needs socialization. The owners also don't walk their dog regularly.
I'm just willing to help anyone. I've watched & learned from Cesar for the past 11yrs. I also am watching older episodes to help refresh my memory. To me, it never gets old!
@@Dogmum99 Malcolm Gladwel wrote an interesting piece on him, "what the dog saw" I think the title was, kinda looking at the origins of his abilities.
It's just to acknowledge it's work too, not just being born magical.
@@anabee8310 ooo that’s really interesting
Cesar, you are the best. I am a dog trainer in New Hampshire and I follow your methods as much as I can. Many of my clients call me a "dog whisperer". I always say I got it from studying you.
Although I just started my YOU TUBE channel July 2023, I have been working with animals the past 40 years and this is one of the non-negotiables I teach all of my clients! Safety, safety, safety. Cesar you are very a calming presence, and I can see your love for the people as well as the animals!
Cesar prior to Covid I was volunteering training dogs at Big Dog Ranch rescue everything I did was based on what I learned from you and your books and your videos energy energy energy. Thank you for all that you do love and respect.
Thank you for training us to be better humans for our dogs.
Very much agree with what you said at the beginning. Repetition Repetition Repetition... I typically don't use treats. I find what kind of reward the dog responds to. Sometimes it might be a toy or just a simple good job.
Depends on da dog some are food motivated some not so much
My dog is food motivated, so I use treats. She's 10 weeks old, walks perfectly on a leash, sits, down and stays and comes when I call her. She also will not touch her food until I say it's okay. She's a Saint Pyreenes so she'll be a big girl and it is imperative that she obeys without hesitation. She's amazing! If she were play motivated, I would use that for a reward.
A very knowledgeable advice and information I always learn from you, Mr. Cesar Milan. I'm hoping to learn more to become a better human to my dogs.❤
Thank you Cesar, you are the best teacher for humans and dogs!
👍💪✌
What a good girl , hope she finds a super home , Thank You Caesar 🩵
So glad youre still doing instructional videos!! You are a life changer. Im back to square 1 because my 11yr old Italian greyhound got out of the dogpark the other day and decided to explore 6 ppls garages and play chicken w traffic. She knows all the commands but always thought playing tag was a more fun response to the word "come" I know its because my work hrs have escalated & shes not getting the off leash runs but its time to stop avoiding situations and train for safety. I ended up having to tackle her to bring her to safetly which couldve injured her too. I hope you can teach an old dog new tricks ( myself)
I used this technique when my husband and I lived in North Carolina and it worked perfectly. Now I find us back home in Upstate New York, deteriorating health (impingement syndrome in both shoulders and osteoarthritis in both elbows. We adopted a great dog, Phil - Ibizan / Weimaraner mix - who is SO VERY strong that taking him for a walk will be an impossibility by next year.....Cesar, I wish we had the money to bring you to us.....my pup is pulling my arms out!
Your videos make my day Cesar!!!
Cesar you are the Best❤
Thanks for what you do Cesar. You are the goat!

Thank you for watching!
I dont know why for sure, ive been watching you since your very first shows, but these last couple of little instructional videos are just making it all click, and with our recent adoption, its gold, thank you!
Hello Cesar. Thank you so much for sharing this. I like your explanations of do's and don'ts and that your doing it many times with different scenarios and levels.
I dont have dogs but I really enjoyed watching you with all The wisdom you impart on How to deal with Animals and Human beings as well!
About how to approach stray dogs who show up in your neighborhood & when you encounter your neighbors out walking their dogs when you are out for just a walk bt yourself.
Merci Cesar I would like also to try it when I get out the car, the dog gets excited, jumps on seat and barks 🙄
And this too. Way too excited to get out the car
Btw its awesome that youre using rescue dogs that need homes for the vids!!!
God bless You César.
Thank you!😊 just got my new puppy and look forward to the training. 🙏
All best Cesar .😊
Thanks for the knowledge🙏
Practice makes perfect ❤
I have a new pug she's 6 months old. Your videos will be fun for me too learn! ❤
Excellent, thank you sir. You are the BEST.❤
Eternamente agradecido por tus consejos Cesar.❤
Amazing video, Cesar. I love this format. Straight to the point. I can actually use this tip right away. Very helpful. It was very frustrating to watch your videos, and they were mostly cut short. Thank you! Can you please do one for stopping new puppies from biting? I love this.
Cesar you the dog expert!🐕🦺🦮🐕🐩
Yes! Thank you!
What kind of turf is that at SOS Dog Rescue? It looks great. I need something like that for my backyard and for my dog.
Cesar millan that is wonderful❤😊
We love you man
Cesar I just adopted a dog from the shelter I volunteer at and the dog is frightened and nervous. How do I correct the dog without freighting him more. Stay, sit, etc.? He is 3 years old and friendly but very nervous and fears commands even when calm commands.
How long have you had the dog? If you just adopted it last week. You need to give the dog time to acclimate to it's new home and develop a bond with you. Depending on what the dog has been through, and the dogs ability, this can take 1-3 months. Bonding should be your immediate goal. Keep training to a minimum during this time. And allow your dog to learn to trust and depend on you. In the meantime take it on walks and be happy. Your dog can sense how you feel. What breed is the dog? And does it know a structured walk on leash? That's where I'd start. But I'd really love to hear Cesar's take on this too. I do well, but Cesar is phenomenal, hehe. Hope this helps.
I know Cesar talks about nose eyes ears alot. We usually train ears eyes nose.
But i can't help you more than that. I've forgotten a lot
I adopted two frightened rescue dogs. I never needed to correct just redirect with praise for the alternate behavior. Even the "aggression" turned out to be fear aggression and needed desensitization. It depends on whats causing the unfavorable behavior
Thank you Cesar!
Great tips. Will practice right away! 😊
Nice video Caesar Milan. I learnt something new which I can implement 👍
Incredible!
excellent technique.
Could you also do a session on Not jumping on the couch/ sofa. And/ or maybe "Place" while doorbell rings/ knock at the door.
Thank you so much
As always, you are just amazing! 🙏
Thank u for this
fantastic !!!!
I have a blind dog that doesn't care about treats. Any alternatives??
An excited Good Boy and a head scratch worked with my dog. Whatever your dog loves the most is the best reward, a treat, praise, play with a favorite toy, etc…
amazing
Wonderful❤❤
An intelligent dog , i remember when i was teaching this to ma cane corso , he made it hell with his stubbornness 😂 the only problem i had with him for few months 😂
Thanks for sharing 😊
Great video! How do you recommend doing this training with three dogs?
Yes. Repeating
I have been working with my pittie/boxer mix on this. She just gets so excited. It is so hard for her to be calm surrender. It can take us 15-20 min. for her to reach this level.
Do you think this would take longer with a velcro dog? My rottie is my shadow and he does so so with stay.
Top
This is something I can practice on my own but what if the distraction is another human/delivery person and or animal. That is what I am struggling with
❤❤❤
👍👍
What treats are u using... hola from chicago
Point 3 is alsorespect other people
This man is a legend
I wish you could train my 2 dogs.
Sir do you go to indonesia on june ?
That funny dog
Hi Cesar and everyone! Not sure if this has been asked, but I do have two dogs I want to train with this, do I train them together or one at a time?
That dog is super smart. Good dog!!!! My dogs would rather BUST out the door😩😩😩
❤❤❤❤
How long do we train this for
3:37 dog is choosing the sound of the bag over the door.
❣️🥰
HELLO, my Doggy eats things on/ from the Street!!!! What can I do that he doesn't eat things from the Street's??? Greetings from Germany
The brain forgot after playing 😂😂😂. Remind me of mine.🤦🏾♀️
Will they stay at the door for training only? They will still go at other doors?
In the dog’s defense every time she went through the door Ceasar cued the dog to do so.
I looked hard and couldn't see the cues you were saying that were there.
At 2:00 he opens door and steps out the way with a head tilt before dog moves. Why would the dog think to stay?
@ 4:33 his hands make a motion that would suggest he wants the dog to come to him. Same motion he makes at 2:59 when he wants the dog to come close to him. At 5:36 when he says it’s time to celebrate the dog stays because the dog isn’t clear about what Caesar wants because the cues aren’t clear to the dog. You’ll notice dog does well when the criteria is clear. Not faulting Caesar as we all do it to our poor dogs. Rather than let them fail and correct them why not explain the rules clearly so no correction is needed?
What if once they see the leash they never get to calm surrender?
I have to starve my dog, ok not starve, but i have to NOT feed her for at least two days before she is motivated by food or treats. Is this normal? She's a 10 yr old dachsund/basenji mix. Slim build. Thank you!
Some dogs just aren't food motivated. For some dogs praise, or a pat, or playing with a tug toy are far better rewards than food.
@@jg5755 thank you! I was concerned but you're right, she responds to praise and love more than anything. Thank you for responding!
My Puppy German Shepherd 65 Days Old.He is behaving very aggressive and Bitting to much! SO CAN YOU PLEASE SUGGEST ANYTHING TO STOP? From INDIA 🇮🇳..
Remember your attitude and feelings play a big toll. Look at some of Cesar aggressive dogs videos
My dog is not as calm to begin with, she’s a hyper mess how do I get her calm to even start the door training
I'd tried this, ready everything (Included treats) but the dog just don't look at me 😑
Cruel door 40
As soon as my dog sees me walking to the door he’s already there waiting for me to open it. So hard for me to leave
