Call me old fashioned but I like to see what I am buying before dropping 600 dollars. Years ago I used to buy baseball wax packs but that hobby became to over saturated. I do appreciate you taking one for the team sort of speak! Give me old gold and silver every day!

There was nothing more fun than opening old Wax Packs back in the day. Fun, even if you didn't get any top cards. Just don't chew the gum, lol. I haven't done that since the 90's. I'd be afraid to even look at what they sell for now. It was certainly fun though!

This is where this fails in coins. They have to purchase these coins at market value.
While cards wether they are worth 50 cents or 50k the makers makes money no matter what because it cost them 10 cents to create them. In coins this is a death business model.

From what i understand, there are so many ways for old packs to be manipulated, there's almost no chance of even getting an actual fair pack.
That killed it for me. Even if there are legit ones out there, i can't tell the difference, so i called it quits

Hello Ben. Thanks for the legitimate box opening. I have seen other openings from You Tubers who seemed to be promoting Vaultbox and guess what? They got at least one RED CORE coin. One was a 1 ounce Platinum Eagle and the others were 1 ounce Gold Eagles. This is a "THREE COIN MONTY" at best. One time out of ten you may get a winner but in the end you'll lose! Gamblers only tell you how much they have won, not how much they lost. This is not good for the hobby anymore than the Lottery is good for society!

I'm to old school. The premium is way to high for what you get. MS 69 and 70 and PR 69 and 70 are very common, and they are bullion coins. Yes these are minted by the Government but really. For $600.00 wouldn't you be happier with a really nice 1914d Lincoln or a 1931s, 1924d MS+ Lincoln Cent or Three Morgan's in MS 63 or 64. Maybe I'm just getting to old to see it. Love the videos. Hi, Ben. The first coin out of the second box appeared to have spots on it. Overall, I am not impressed. I would not recommend buying these boxes. This is another flash-in-the-pan gimmick. I think it will be mostly driven by YT. I bet they will be big on the late-night coin shows that attract people with little knowledge about coins and buying coins.
I don't like the new NGC grading system at all. It will be too confusing. I don't collect labels. I don't collect holders. I collect coins. I will leave these boxes to the gamblers. $1,200 for two boxes??? I would rather have a mint state Flying Eagle Cent.

I watched Blueridge's interview w/ the creator of the "Vault Box" and he repeatedly mentioned that this was an attempt to attract new coin collectors (particularly from other hobbies w/ similar gambler's packages). Except this is something of which nobody outside of numismatics/precious metal stacking knew, so nearly all of these were likely snatched up by flippers. It turns out the "Vault Box" is what I thought it would be: the "loot crate" of coin collecting (and w/ all the hype from the prominent collector/stacker YT channels that it entails), except at least the items w/in have intrinsic value, so none are a complete waste of money.

I always have and still do think the 70 grade is a gimmick. I have looked at hundreds of “perfect” coins and in almost every case I can find at least one blemish or imperfection. Beyond that, for those that I can’t find one, there’s always the chance spotting whether it’s milk spots carbon spots etc will develop over time
To me anyway there’s just no way any coin can be absolutely perfect and therefore 69 should be the top grade
I’ve been submitting coins for 20 years and trust me when I tell you getting any classic business strike coin to grade above 66, is an extremely daunting task I’ve sent in bulk orders of hand picked cherry red 1940s-1970s Lincoln cents that have deep creamy original mint red luster with all but mark free surfaces and full strikes and I max out at 66. Same for Wash quarters Franklin halves and Morgan’s. I’ve gotten many 66 grades back on all of the above. Some of the 66 grades coins actually have better luster than a lot of the moderns graded 69 or 79 imho

One commenter told me that he could tell if an unopen box have an ounce gold in it because gold is heavier than silver. I go what? a troy ounce of silver weighs the same as a troy ounce of gold. Plus there were 1/10 and 1/4 ounce gold so that blew his comment away. At least you got a gold so you can be contempt. I was not thrilled will all these modern bullions to spend $600. Now if they have something more thrilling like 1916D dime even in good condition then I would take that gamble.

That is what will discourage alot of people from ever wanting to buy coins again. MY #1 Suggestion to anyone considering buying these instead of buying this box, would be to walk in to your local coin shop and give the dealer $600 And ask him to pick out 3 to 5 graded coins for you or to put together a small mystery box. You will get way more value for the money better coins and im sure the dealer will be more than happy to do so

Every box is guaranteed to have one low tiered coin, one mid tier coin and one high tier coin. No box will be loaded with 3 great coins so you’re basically rolling the dice for what one of the three coins will be. If you’re an advanced collector this probably is not for you unless you really like to gamble. The lowest value of a 3 coin box is supposed to be $270, which Vault box will buy back from you. So you could sell the coins back and be left with a nice red storage box for $400. 🤷
There’s only around 150 total red core coins going in these boxes so out of the 2400 coins being packed, less than 7% of them have the special red core which will probably be collectible in itself. Will this bridge the gap for non-coin collectors? I really don’t know. It’ll be interesting to watch. People spend thousands on sports card boxes now to chase special cards. We’ll have to see how this plays out.

Seems like an expensive gamble and isn't it a scam that they're offering to buy them back at inflated prices?

LOL, You said it yourself, "it's a great way to loose money gambling". So now how do you and the engineer feel that you both have lost $600.00 each? Bet you feel ripped-off right? Well what do you expect from someone who is in your own words "Not smart enough to open a box". As P. T. Barnum said "A fool and his money are soon departed"! I'm so glad I didn't fall for that SCAM!!!

These have been being sold on Whatnot now for weeks. Vault box provided the boxes to the larger Whatnot sellers on the condition that they be opened live at the point of sale. I have watched dozens of them sold and opened live during the auctions. On the Whatnot auctions most have sold for at least $1000 and I have seen more than a few go for over $1500. In my opinion, the Vault Box series is a complete rip off even at the $700 price. Don't waste your money on these. The hype will end and the prices will drop.

They probably made one box worth more than the purchase price and the CEO got it. These gimmicks are designed to separate fools from money. I'd say I lost a little respect for NGC but I've never put any value on TPG's. They are a cancer on the hobby

This concept might work for cards, but it simply can't work well for coins. For the card manufacturing companies, producing expensive cards (big hits) doesn't cost much more than producing common cards. With coins, the people packing the boxes have to pay market price for the material. Busting boxes of cards is a bad idea, but buying these coin boxes is a REALLY bad idea!

Talk about a rip. Looks as though NGC is unloading as many recent Eagles as possible. A bunch of ASE's a pair 10th Au ... Looks like NGC's decided to unload mediocre and play on the natural gambling instinct of coin addicts. Sad state of affairs. Money grubbers.

Half? I didn't see 1,200 in value. Most of it was bullion ASE's. Slabbed or not it's bullion, nothing more. I wouldn't pay more than 600 for all 4 boxes

Upon further consideration... this is numismatic in name only. Numismatics requires intelligence, memory and organization. That NGC has stooped so low as to foist this as "numismatics" is an insult to true collectors. We've entered the casino phase of coin collecting. Sending hard-earned cash to a company that plays favorites, keeps mailing lists and knows who's buying... If you believe this program is truly random you deserve to get fleeced. NGC has turned the corner and is now officially a disgrace to the hobby. Hopefully, PGCS has the sense to stand by and watch the reviews of this program. NGC gets fat and collectors waste money on coins they can buy at any coin show. As collectors who wants to buy pigs in a poke?
