- How to Fix a Running Toilet
This is how you fix most toilets that won't stop running.
It is more than likely that the flapper isn't sealing properly. It gets a little more complicated (and the video would be a lot longer) if it is the float valve, so you should start by swapping out the flapper.

It's good knowledge to have when you do.

Yeah and it's amazing😂❤️
And I love it. This is the dad I didn’t know I needed 😬
Wow this comment has nailed it all
Your thang is cweepy
In the end when he said “Alright you got this.”
That ending was so wholesome. It's like playing an old family video you found of your parents cheering you on for your first steps or your first bike ride.

He looks like the type of guy who'd bring his child's entire class cupcakes on their birthday.
and theres nothin fuckin wrong with that
Don't most people do that for their birthday in elementary school?
My dad did that
Volknner nah i was one of the kids who never had cupcakes or cookies at school on their birthday
Doesn’t everyone lol be kinda rude not to
I just cried watching a man fix a toilet. I lost my dad 5 years ago, and I am so happy that this man can provide this much needed caring advice to those who need it. Keep doing good work. We need more people like you in this world. ❤️
Sorry to hear that.
I lost my dad a couple years ago he was always my go to
I actually think this channel is the reason CZcams was invented. I´m 35 and had a dad that taught me all these things. I even showed my dad this channel aged 63 and he was like: "Thats a cool dad".
So, this is how having a dad feels...
when i tell u i FELT THAT
He is the dad we never had
Its nothing that can be matched by a youtube video
We are on the same level rn
Hey Dad, now you gotta deal with all of your new children from r/teenagers
I found out about him on a Facebook post.. I was already teary eyed.. then saw your comment.. that did it! 😭 lol

Hey there siblings ^^
I do have a father but he's an abuser.
This channel has helped me a lot because I live alone
Thank you ❤
Wanted to come back and say this single gal went out and bought the items and came home and fixed BOTH running toilets. So proud of myself. Thank you so much.
That is awesome Nicolein! 👌 👏 👏❤🙏
He’s so pure and wholesome. We must protect him at all costs people.
I agree with the wholesome part
🔥
protect from who? could you explain me?
Absofreakinglutely!
Alejandro Escalante Just protect him not from someone just that he is awesome
My dad died last year. He is usually our go to person when something in the house stopped working. I cried in the first 5 seconds of this video. I miss my dad. I hope everyone who reads this might want to pat their dad at the back or at least give them a nod, if they are overseas or far away, send them a Hi or a good night. It's hard when you miss someone but it's harder when you miss them and there is no way to see them any sooner.
Annnnd I'm calling my pops now.
I'm sorry just know he loved you
I just seen this and messaged my dad with a random "I love you and am grateful for you." He said I'm not allowed to make him cry on first dates anymore 😬😬 whoops.
Thanks for reminding me❤.
Condolences homie
Lost my Dad in 2016. It's like you lost part of your whole soul. These make me so too. 💕 you're not alone.
Can you just make a vid saying "im proud of you and I love you"
He did! 😭😭🥰
Beautiful.
Every one needs to send you cards for father's day

I’ve had a replacement flapper sitting by a toilet to which I’ve had the water turned off for a ridiculously long time b/c I didn’t know how to do the swap. Rather than listen to the water keep filling, I just took it out of service. Happily it’s not the only toilet so another has been available ... but when I watched this video, my toilet was back in business in less than two minutes. Thanks - from a widow who has added yet another skill to the repertoire!
So cool!
Just found out about your channel. I grew up without a father. I am 40, a father, and don’t need your help.... but I’m here to say I love what you’re doing. I had to teach myself everything. Still learning. Cheers.
his father left when he was 12, now he has a CZcams channel called “Dad, how do I?” to help kids who’re growing up without dads. teaching them basic tasks that you’d usually ask your dad for help on. 🥺 GUYS THIS IS MAKING ME CRY
i'm crying right now
My toilet isn’t even broken, this just looked interesting
Mines neither
Same. I just adore him
This is my first video of his. I just wanted to see what his videos were like and now I'm off to watch the rest. We're going to be alright, guys
Same lol but when they do go it's kinda stressful so good to know. I'm gonna order some parts now for spares just in case :)
At least you learned something new
I have never lost my dad, but you are so so so so so so so kind to do this for people without dads and I love that. Keep up the good work!
"You got this" 😭😭. That did get me right in the feels

I’m now a single mom to 2 little boys (5 & 8). I have this exact issue and I’m excited to be able to teach them this. Thank you for doing this.
I had this problem in 2 of my apartments, my landlord did not care, I had a technician over 3 times. Spent so much money and time, you are the best. Thank you.
My father hasn’t had anything to do with me basically my whole life. This channel is so helpful and I’m gonna call you my internet dad (if that’s okay with you) 🥺
Oh dear. Sorry to hear that. Men lose a most precious thing in all of life when they do that. At 60 I adopted a 15 year old girl who needed a dad as much as I needed a daughter. I thank God for her. Wishing you blessings.
Same. Hence we have to learn and walk the path on our own. I'm grateful for friends and loved ones around me.
I doubt you’ll see this, but I feel as though it needs to be said: Thank you. Thank you from a 19 year old girl who grew up never knowing her dad, the one who’s still embarrassed because she doesn’t know how to ride a bike or check the oil in her car. My moms tried to teach me everything, but there’s only so much she can do. I grew up never having a clue what asking your dad little questions felt like, so I thank you for giving me a glimpse into the “normal,” it really does mean the world.
I randomly watched this video around a year ago while checking out his channel, and now here I am with a running toilet in need of a guide. Thanks Dad!
I grew up without my parents, my kids don't have their Dad. This channel is heartwarming. It's amazing how you need your parents your whole life. I'm 40 and I still miss them as much as I did when I was a kid.
We have to get him something for father's day !
yess, definitely have to send something in his p.o. box
Didn’t have a dad growing up this is SUCH a good idea, so many moments of learning missed growing up and something like this is so positive and just...good... thank you

Jeana Marie Mallay that’s what happened to me and that’s why I believe something like this is so important... for the people who get misunderstood when they simply just didn’t have the guidance...

I learned about your channel from a link in Maria Shriver's "Sunday Paper." You were listed as her, "Yippee Moment of the Week." This is such a great channel...not just for those who need father figures, but for widows who were used to having their husbands as the go to fix-it guy. "Honey....How do I....?" What you're doing is amazing. With everything going on in the world right now, it's inspiring to see people like you bringing light into people's lives. You are such a gift! Thank you!

I was raised without a father, my mother was a single parent. I’ve always dreamed of having a real father figure. These videos made me cry, purely because I find these to be so heartwarming. Thank you for doing this. You have no idea how much this means to a lot of folks out there. Myself included!
I am a single mom to raise two kids, never know how to teach my daughter & son on all these unique techniques. These definitely will save a lot of money to hire a handy man to do the job s for us. Thank you & looking forward for more videos from you dad😘😘

The only reason I clicked on this video is so I could say that the work that you do for others is mind-blowing. That you used a platform to give others the skills that they might never have been taught is such a respectable and generous thing to do and it blows my mind. If the whole world was half as good as you it would be a better place. Thank you.
My dad passed away in 2017 and your videos have helped me learn so much. Thank you for all you do!
Him saying "You got this!" at the end was amazing and so encouraging. I have a similar story to yours, my dad left me and my mom when I was 11, that was 3 years ago. You truly are helping hundreds of thousands of people with this channel. Keep up the great work!
Bless you and your family and all things you work for!
That was also extremely heartwarming. I lost my dad to cancer 10 years ago. So I had to pick some basic know how around the house and with the car that he'd normally be able to help me with.
“Alright, u got this”. That’s the best part what a dad. Truly an underrated channel but it’s growing quickly over 450k in 3 months. Awesome and thank u
1.28 mil subs now :D
This is fantastic. I’m an adult (recently separated) and doing all the things on my own now. Never too old to need some help from Dad!
I came here because of how wholesome. I have a dad, however he’s 3 hours away and he’s even further from tech savvy. Lol AND he keeps forgetting to fix my running toilet when he visits but now I can totally do it myself!! I literally went, “OH WOW! That IS easy!” Thank you so so much for this and for the encouraging and uplifting way you’re helping us all. 🥰 We could all do a little more, whether providing one more smile or a helpful tip, and this is the best proof I’ve seen yet.
My father died when i was 14, I'm 23 now with hardly any clue on how to do any of this. I'm happy you exist.
I love that he reassures "you got this!" at the end. So wholesome!
I saw him on the nightly news. I lost my Dad in 2005. He was the one I always called. I'm so thankful I found you. Thank you.
I don't believe in coincidences. I saw you this morning for a reason. Firstly, I want to thank you for sharing these videos. Secondly, you gave me good memories of my Dad, who passed July 4, 2002; who used to show me DIY things around the house, and thirdly, now I can help my husband around the house more with DIY projects. God bless you richly!!
When he says: "You got this!" at the end. 😃🤧😭

My dad just moved 7 hours away from my family for his new job and our toilets been broken for a couple weeks now. He can’t show me how to fix it but luckily I found this video that describes everything perfectly! Thank you for your videos and for being the helpful dad we all need!
Thank you so much for posting these videos. My toilet tank cracked in the middle of the night and started leaking water everywhere, but because of this video I knew how to turn off the water and prevent the situation from getting much worse. Thank you again! Happy Father's Day!

Have a PhD in computer science... Still needs these videos
Man my dad just had brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM a tangle of abnormal blood vessels connecting arteries and veins in the brain.) and two minor strokes last year. He’s doing fine thank God, but after his surgery he now has trouble speaking and trouble moving his right arm. So sometimes it’s a little difficult communicating with him like I once did before .. he’s a jack of all trades master of none in a sense ...that man is one wise intelligent man.... watching these videos makes wish I would of payed more attention or asked for more advice with everyday problems...especially now that I’m a home owner and facing all these grown man everyday issues..😢
You remind me of my dad. Do a “how to balance your checkbook” or “how to build your credit” episode!! Pleeeease 🙏🏻 This channel is so important because dads are so important.
And us dads now that had shit dads don’t know a thing so this guy is absolutely amazing
When you said “Ok, you got this!” At the end, reminded me of my dad, he died in 2016 when I was 17 years old.

Dude! I watched this video years ago but tonight I had a running toilet in a residents room I care for and maintenance doesn’t get in until tomorrow, I remembered this video and took a look in the tank to see if I could figure it out and I did! It was an easy fix but without watching this video I would have never even thought, “hmm maybe I know something about that let me look” So thankyou so much!!!❤❤
I've had my father for 16 years. I've only known you from two videos, yet you've taught me more about stuff than my father ever did.
Thanks dad.
I love what you're doing here man. I recently bought a house and I never mowed a lawn before. You think you can do a video on lawnmowers?
Hey, congrats on the house! I don’t know if you have a mower, but for what it’s worth: I hadn’t mowed a lawn since I was like 10 and my dad started the gas mower for me. A few weeks ago I bought an Ego brand battery mower. About $600, which was a bit of a stretch for me, but it’s dead simple to use, cut my overgrown grass like a beast, and doesn’t require maintenance. Wirecutter has a good review.
Look up Silver Cymbal’s channel- great lawncare and mechanical maintenance content, there.
Did you not have to do chores or did you live in a flat or something?
Lawnmowers are fairly easy and straightforward to use. Just make sure its empty before you store it away for the winter cause gas expires and while it can still run it will gum up your lawnmower and shorten its lifespan. I remember when I brought out the lawnmower after winter a few years back and it was really hard to get it running and when I finally did get it running it was puffing out black smoke like a steam engine and would whine and die if it had trouble cutting the grass. It started working again after a while but hasn't been the same since. Also on the topic of winter care purge your sprinkler system before winter comes so water doesn't freeze in the pipes and cause them to burst or anything not sure how many people do it but it's better safe than sorry.
Same, my dude. I’m also allergic to grass so we’ll see how that goes 🤔
I already have a great dad, but always have room in my heart for another. Hope you know you've been adopted by at least 3k other people.
Love you dad!

Really loving your channel and the idea behind it. I grew up without a father since my teenage years, so I've found out that it's the simple and mundane stuff that nobody really tells you about, other than your dad.
Thank you!!! I just paid a plumber $100 to change a flapper!! I'm going to watch your channel and it will save me lots of money!
I lost my dad when I was 4 and stepdad when I was 8 I'm 15 now and the only good father figure was my dad so I've never had a good father figure thank you for this. I may be crying but it's tear of happiness and sadness. Happiness because of people like you sad because I will never get these life lessons from my dad
Hang in there buddy, I never knew my dad and my stepdads were all douchebags
@@xstoofpeer Sounds rough hope things get better and I try but it gets a bit annoying when I'm known as the girl with the dead dad in both primary and secondary school
God bless you. Just know you can find a perfect father figure in God, through Jesus Christ. As a 16 year old, I believe you can be great in life, and I know your dad is proud of you as he smiles of joy in Heaven.
@@servantofChrist3 I personally found a father figure, or a guideline on how to live life, not necesarily just in God but by the universe in general. I view everything around me with a curious eye, and by trying new things and looking for new experiences outside of my comfort zone I learn more about myself and how the world works.
@@servantofChrist3 classic religious talk, praying on the weak, next time think before you give such stupid advice, shame on you
Just found out about this channel!
My dad passed away when I was 12 and my boyfriend's dad passed away when he was about 20. Both our dads were the DIY wizards in our families.
We recently bought our first house together and have found out first hand how hard it is even trying to put a TV on the wall, or some shelving, without our dads there to show us how it's done.
Hopefully this can fill a bit of that void! Thank you x
I heard about this channel on Facebook for the first time yesterday. Today I fixed my toilet on my own and I’m so proud! Thank you :)!
Just found you on Reddit. I need help around the house. Tearful watching you show me stuff I should have learned from my dad. He was always out of the country. Didn’t teach his 4 girls much so it’s time I quit depending on others. He passed a few weeks ago. 😢 Your daughter is so blessed! I’m so glad she shares you!
