I'm an IMG in my first year. My plan is to do my residency in EM and specialize in Critical Care. The reason I will specialize in Critical Care is because I want to be able to spend more time with my patients, treat the most critical patients, and I like the challenge of difficult cases. However, I have a lot of time still to explore my options.
Dr. Webb, you are an inspiration and a virtual mentor. I appreciate you doing these videos. I learn so much!

  • @natthapoomsuphavejkornkij197

Thank you Bro! I watched your videos many times. Now I will start orthopedics residency next year. Keep doing it.Your videos inspired many people!

Dr. Webb, my dream has always been to go into orthopedics. The only thing that intimidates me is the lifestyle during training and the competitiveness of getting a residency spot. Thanks for the great content!

I would say concentrate on getting to med school and then look at your options. When I was younger I never imagined myself as a pathologist

Thanks for the advice. It's good to know that our interests can change over time. I'm not sure why you've assumed that I'm not already in med school. As they say, when you assume, you make an ass of U and ME.

You might've already mentioned this in another video, but what is the orthopedics schedule like? You mentioned EM being too unpredictable or inconvenient, and so I'm just curious about ortho's hours. Orthopedics or Sports Medicine are specialties I'm interested in. :)

Love your content Dr. Webb. Much appreciation! I coincidentally live in SA and work at Audie Murphy. I will be starting school at utmb in the fall and will be 40 when I finish. Do you think I will be at a disadvantage for obtaining an ortho residency due to my age? I just want to be realistic about my circumstances. Thanks for your insight and service. Respect.

Hey Dr. Webb!😀! Um...I'm a Pre-med student from the Philippines and I'm looking forward to going into medicine after I graduate. I'm really confused about the fellowship after the 5 years of residency in Orthopedic Surgery. After your spine fellowship, I understand that you'll be called an Orthopedic Spine surgeon afterwards...but will you only be focused on the spine and not operate in other parts of the skeletal system?

Hey Dr. Webb this may sound a bit strange but I have a question for you since your an orthopedic surgeon. In the 7th grade I broke the growth plate in my right ring finger knuckle and had it set in a cast, and now as a sophomore in college the knuckle is deformed and the finger is shorter, I saw an orthopedic a few years back and he says there's nothing that can be done, it's constantly in pain so is there anything you could recommend for me to do?

Tyler924 CZcams and Google this stuff and give me your thoughts. Becoming a physician is a gamble and risk. Either it works out for you or u get screwed over with debt and oppertunity costs. Dont believe the hype of being a physician it is ranked as one of the most overrated professions. CZcams: Marty Nemko Cool Careers Part 1, Physicians replaced with robots, Physician dreams of working as accoutant, Physicians bullied by adminstration
Google: Physicians leaving professions, Physicians replaced lower tier providers(Nures, P.A.s ect) : Anesthesiologist replaced with CRNAs, N.P.s replacing primary care physicians, N.P.s replacing Emergency Medicine Physicians ect, Physician Burnout rate, Physician suicide rate, Medical School grad working as waitress,
Dont believe the hype of becoming a physicians.
