So this is a Murasame! I've seen this brand popping up lately and wondered about it. I always appreciate you CZcamsrs taking risks and posting reviews of new, obscure brands for the rest of the world. I've been curious because (a.) it's a new brand and (b.) the name has a cool story behind it. Murasame has been a staple in the Final Fantasy JRPG series since the beginning now and is second only to the Masamune. In Medieval Japan it was a gimei (fake signature) used to alter the tangs of Muramasa swords after the Tokugawa shogunate outlawed them for being "evil". The 2 signatures are VERY similar so it was easy to change. Imagine having to give up a sword that costs a year's salary because a politician decided he didn't like it because of who made it! There never was (as far as I know) an actual swordsmith called Murasame. The name just means "village rain" and is a kind of seasonal monsoon that comes around November. I'm a Scorpio, so that's where at least part of the interest in the name comes from. 😅 So this is like having a sword named Alucard rather than it just being blatantly named Dracula. Kinda cool, right? The thing that struck me about this sword is the depth, clarity of the detail on the fittings. I dunno if they're lost wax or injection molded but they're great looking. Clearly they're solid brass and not plated or painted pot metal, too. And, with a T10 alloy blade and a tsuba that thick, I can see why you'd say the thing is heavy! T10 always seems to take a very vibrant hamon and, like its plainer cousin 1095, can be razor sharp. And I LOVE that sword bag. So much better than the plain black one or the ugly fake silk ones everyone else gives out.
I ordered one of their expensive models from Amazon. It's T10 spring steel with a real hamon. They did one hell of a job and it's razor sharp. The Ito wrapping is perfect as well as tight the same with the fittings. The blade features a mune and bo-hi . My only complaint is the Saya feels a bit cheap for the quality of the sword. Anyway it's very beautiful my friend, take care of it don't touch the blade and use a good quality oil.
I completely agree with your assessment. Just got mine and can't believe the quality of the sword. Mine has leather and it's tight! The blade is a razor blade. I'm upgrading the saya because the blade deserves better. Absolutely amazing.
Next time to break the seal of your sword Place your hand at the top of your Saya to the top of the Koiguchi grip the saya and use your thumb while holding tsuka in your other hand to push up on the tsuba.

Hello my hmong brother🙂 nice sword
Very nice. Especially for a Murasame. Only thing I would change is the hababki.
