A cute choreography to a "common staple" tune that is often done as an audience participation dance at Oktoberfest time. The Zillertal (Ziller Valley) is in central Tirol (Austria), and has produced much of what is commonly presented nowadays as "German" culture. There are at least 8-10 well-known current and recent musical groups that call the Zillertal area their home. Zillertaler Hochzeitsmarsch - The Wedding March from the Ziller Valley. This tune is a Schlager - a popular composition of recent years, that is somewhat folk-like, but not actually traditional. What we generally recognize as "German" culture is primarily from the mountainous areas of southern Bavaria and TIrol - the rest of Germany has music, dances, dialect, food, etc that are quite different. I'm not going to step into the argument about German versus Austrian. Culturally speaking the folks from Munich, Salzburg, and Innsbruck have much more common ground with each other, than they have with the people of Berlin, Hamburg, or Frankfurt. But the boundaries are what they are. I found subtle differences between Germany and Austria - but certainly not anywhere near as great as between Germany and France, or Germany and Poland. Swiss culture, on the other hand, is considerably different from both German and Austrian - and your high school German won't get you very far! It's not a better or worse culture - just different. There are some aspects shared by all three ethnic areas - but Swiss is very distinct from the other two. For music/dance traditions, it us useful to distinguish three areas - even though a substantial oversimplification: northern/central German, Bavarian/Tirolean, and Swiss. And then you have to add to that - the German diaspora: Holsteiners and northeastern Germans (with strong Scandinavian influence), the Silesians and Sudetenland folks, the Siebenbeurgen, Banat Schwaben, and Danube Swabians, the Oberkrainer, the South Tiroleans and the Alsatians. All of these groups have substantial elements of "Germanic" tradition in their music/dance - and yet are distinguishable from each other, and from the cultures of the modern German/Austrian/Swiss states.

no offense but...you know that austria is more or less part of the german culture? the austrians mother tongue is German, official language is German and austria was founded as "defense" region for the German realm by Germans like 1000 years ago. I don't want to underrate the austrians and don't see them as non-sovereign but honestly to speak of austrians on the one hand and Germans on the other is like speaking of Bavarians or Saxons etc. on the one and the Germans on the other..
Never call an austrian german, NEVER. If you ever visit austria you'll see the differences in our culture, society and also the language. Plus austrians count as more polite and much more easy going;-)

The only reason they are separated from Germany is because of the allies who made a decision that went totally against the voice of the Austrian votes. To some extent religion may enter this battle between stricter, harder working Germans and lazy degenerate Austrians. My late wife's family were and are Lutherans, and in North Germany Protestantism was normal, we carried a bible on board ship but never a priest. Austrians have inherited their Catholicism from the old Austro-Hungary Empire, and prefer to spend their lives on their knees where our Lutherans religious duties done enjoy a good dance.
