@@manuelmeister7183 No, it's not. It's pretty much unique to the British establishment -- I can't imagine this happening in any other developed country. Prince Philip was *a* royal, he wasn't the sovereign. To interrupt everything to announce this and then not return to normal programming is an affront to democracy.
@@adamsimmons631 Most people here listen to BBC radio. We pay for it. It's public service broadcasting, not a mouthpiece for the royal family. I'm not saying that there should have been no changes, but expecting everyone to jump to attention is unacceptable. Many people would have thought something dreadful had happened and that if it was someone dying, it would have been the Queen and nobody else.
All bar one of the BBC Radio stations (the one exception being Radio 1 Dance, but I think that is because that station is pre-recorded?) joined in smoothly, whereas on Radio 1 Dance, they crashed into the coverage half way through a song
So odd to hear this. I've seen videos on this, and what would happen when one of them died.. but its crazy, honestly.
