I really like that lens manufacturers are releasing more lighter and smaller lenses 👍🏼
It helps staying spontaneous and quickly bringing your camera with you.
The photos turned out really nice!
Yeah I do love that sigma aren't just trying to make big, heavy optically perfect lenses but are also putting effort into compact lenses - gives you so much choice.
Camera brand or lens does not matter. You just have to create a nice foreground and have a good composition.
Really great shots!
factsss, the concept is always king. equipment can def enhance it too though
I recently picked up the Tamron 45mm 1.8 and it has hardly left my camera. It's becoming my favorite lens in my kit. I really appreciate the odd focal lengths. They're like the unsung heroes.
I did my first ever portrait shoot on the 45 1.8 - beautiful lens
are you using it on a sony camera?
@@bijosn I'm using it with the Canon R
@@Donny_B thanks for the reply? What other lenses do you have to compare to it? I have heard that auto focus is slow with the tamron 45.
These f2 sigma lenses are so fucking beautiful!
I have this lens for Street photography and it's incredible. Such a perfect mix like you said between the 50 and 85 but has such a unique look ! Great shots btw 🔥
Thanks Mark
Woww the photos look beautiful & omg the shots with flowers in her hair 3:10 so cute 🥺🌸! Also didn’t want the videos of her to end haha!
Nice review Mitch. Mine just arrived today and have the 85mm 1.4 DG DN on the way for a 20G-35GM-65-85 kit. Very impressed with the build and feel of the lens. Colours are really vibrant, similar to the 24-70 2.8 DG DN. Only taken a few shots but so far, bokeh looks really nice and it seems crazy sharp even at f2. slightly sharper at 2.8 but probably not enough to bother stopping down. Seems like a lovely little lens and i think i prefer it to the Sony 55 1.8.
For the past few years, I've also been a 35 & 85 shooter for portraits. I also have the 135 GM too (TBH, I love it but I need to back up too much - LOL). In June, I purchased the 50 1.2 GM. I'm have not liked the focal length much in the past, but it's not pretty much the only lens I use - covers 80% of what I want.
7:25, thank you for doing this comparison. I’ve been watching videos all week about the Sigma 65 F2, and I really wanted to see it compared to a 50mm F1.8.
this 65 mil produces a much more natural uncompressed look for portraits with nice bokeh effects.... simply great
I love your style of photography🤩 You are doing amazing job 👌💪
Im SO excited about this! This totally makes sense! I hired a 28-105 f4.0L and found I took majority of photos at 66-68mm enjoying that frame aspect, yet at f4, it lacked the depth compared to my 50mm f1.8 set to f2.2 - the major issue is that 50mm is as you say, pedestrian focal length. It is too wide or too close for bokeh effect. Defs going to try the 66mm! Thanks for this Video Mitch! Yokidekimashita! 🌸
65mm Primo is one of my favorite focal lengths in my cinematography, Happy to see this review to possibly pick one up.
ur style is so nice bro
Duude these photographs are so goood! Love how the shoot came out..
Great video
The 65 has been on my radar for a while now but never pulled the trigger until today after seeing this video. I had the sigma 85mm 1.4 and it was just a little too long and heavy so I switched to the Zeiss 55 that I didn’t really show much love to. It’s kind of a blah focal length but does have a nice pop to it. I was going to go for the Sony 85mm 1.8 but this video reminded me to go ahead and get the 65 that I’ve always kinda wanted.
Thank you so much. Just got this lens. Learning to shot with one Lens to hone my skills for framing a shot. Enjoyed!
I do a lot of couple shoots and I replaced my 55 1.8 with this 65mm. It is better corrected for ca. They build it very well. It's almost flawless except for weird flaring against bright lightsources.
This is the content that I love the most here Mitch :)
I loved the photos! And yes being right in between 50mm and 85mm sounds awesome! Excited for the next videos coming up about it. Cheers bro!
This video blew me away wow !! Every photo is perfection 😍
Wow, like this lens ! photos with the sun backlight are the best ! Awesome portrait
Great work as always! 🙌🏼 Definitely impressed by this top down perspective at 05:06.
Looking forward to see what else you will create with this lens 🔥
Beautiful shots
Awesome video bro! Now it will be awesome. If you can’t compare the 65mm f2 with the Samyang 75mm 1.8. Looks like they are pretty close. I’m super curious!
man, what beautiful photos. love the location, and your model seemed like a natural. i just went location scouting for the first time yesterday for my 4th shoot ever haha, hoping my photos turn out nicely!
I love that you’re shooting more with Sony more now days 🙃
i liked this. Pictures and presets very awesome
Wonder how this fairs with the 55mm f1.8.
very very cool. loved the shots.
Loved it. Great photos.
the things obscuring the face AF issue can be resolved with A7R5 :) great pictures Mitch!
The DP for top gun maverick said they did a lot of their actor shots outside of the cockpit with a 65mm lens. It's a great focal length for portraiture!
This lens is amazing
Very nice photos!!
Interesting. I'm a big fan of a particular and special look and that's why I felt in love with the 85mm GMaster after I lend it so I bought it even nearly every CZcamsr said that the 85 Sigma is better but I just did not like the look so much. I'm gonna try this one too because I do mostly portraits and street. So it might be the perfect lens for me.
Bro woooooot 65mm is a vibe
I'm sold bro, i bought this lens after watching this video.
My holy trinity for portraits - 35mm, 50mm and 85mm :D
Great ! Do you really think 65mm could be a great versatile all aroud focal lenght for travel ?
Looks good Mitch. But very similar rendering to the 70mm end of a 24-70 2.8? Maybe time you have the pro zooms another go?
how does it perform for video purposes?
It's really good!
It's got the look of a 50mm with the compression of the 85mm. Really nice!
Thanks for making this video - I hope you'll shoot more videos on the 65. I literally had an email about this lens come into my inbox 5 minutes before I clicked this. Like you, I have the 35/85 combo - Sony GM 35 and Sigma Art 85. But they are too big and not versatile to carry out casually and I rarely take them out with me. I end up taking my Fujifilm X100V or the Sigma 28-70 f2.8 for the versatility and light weight. I've been wanting Sigma to make their 50mm ART or a 50mm Contemporary but heck, maybe I can just pick up the 65 and try it this year.
For your style, I'd recommend taking a gander at the Voigtlander 65mm f2 apo ;) the colors and contrast are CRAZY, not to mention you can get even more creative with it's half-macro capabilities. It'll slow you down since it's manual, but trust me, it's worth it!
What light would you recommend for CZcams talking head portion of videos ?
Very nice results with this lens. I just find this muzak that many videos of this kind have today a bit exhausting…
Incredible work my Lallybear 🐨absolutely killed it! 🤍🤍
I actually bought this lens used just a few days ago. I had rented the Sony 55mm 1.8 to test before I bought that lens, but found the CA a bit too unacceptable. Add the stories and reports of potential long term reliability issues (AF and lens decentering), I made an audible and bought the 65. I've been struggling with the weight of this lens vs the 55mm. The weight in front heavy, so the lens doesn't pass the "tip over" test when you set the camera on a table. However, the image quality that comes out is far away better than the 55mm. It's almost too sharp. I'm actually pulling back sharpness in my edits currently. The focal length is really weird. It really does straddle the 50 and 85, but I find I shoot it more like a close 85, rather than a step back 50. In the end, I'm still going to keep the lens, but it's a quirky one for sure.
I think that's why I love it. And I'm used to much heavier lenses so it's not a huge deal for me that it is a metal build.
Yooooo cherry blossoms are just starting to come out, excited to see some photos and videos of that in the next few weeks bro. Those sigma Contemporary lens are build like tanks, 60mm hitting different compared to a standard 50
I've had an eye on the 65i for a while so very interesting to hear your thoughts and see you photos! I would be very interested to hear more of your thoughts (and see more photos) when you have used it a bit more. As others have said, it would be great to see a comparison (real world, not test charts!) of the 65i against an 85mm f/1.4 (or even Samyang 75mm f/1.8), but I think it would also be great to see a comparison against the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 DN Art (or another 2x-7x f/2.8) at 65mm, a more in depth comparison against a fast 50mm (or 50ish) lens, and even a comparison against cropped shots from the 35GM (which I think you have?). A zoom at 65mm f/2.8 is only one stop slower than the 65i, and the 35GM with an APS-C crop gives you effectively a 52.5mm f/2.1 (so not too far from a 50 or 55 f/1.8 if you can deal with the lower resolution). I have a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 DN Art and a 35GM, and I've been unsure whether the 65i (or Sony ZA55) would really add much to what I have already.
Photos turned out great!! Do you use uncompressed raw on all your photoshoots?
really want to hear you talk about this I series Lens they so compact and good design
Dude I feel like the videos are getting better every time. The b-roll has been so good. I also bought your presets a few weeks back and they’ve become my go-to starting point presets. Love your work, man.
I think I prefer the compression of 85 a little more but this does seem like a good option for those wanting something a little more flexible than just an 85. I could see it also being preferable for those couples photos where you need a little more room to work with but still want a little more compression and separation from a 50.
I love that companies are starting to explore more and more focal length options, for many, the 50mm is too boring and the 85mm is too tight if you shoot indoors. This 65 seems to be a fit for many people. It's a pity it's only f2 although it's good, but with the cheap 50 & 85mm offering 1.8 it's hard picking up this one.
💣🔥💣
6:40 misfocus probs....isn't that related to the camera, not lens? focus speed is something that could be due to the lens
Brother your edits are so clean an beautiful. Why did you ditch canon?
Hope next video lens sigma 20mm f2 vs sigma 20mm f1.4
I would like to see a review of new s5ii with sigma 24-70m ;)
Froth this video bro 😎
Thanks bro!
love the shots, cool vid. But the background music is one of the most annoying ones I had to bear since long...
next the 35 f2 from sigma!
The only thing I dont like is that the lens hood cant be stored backwards on the lens. That is an excellent feature of any lens imo.
The 65mm Sigma's hood does store reversed as do other Sigma lenses in this series.
I loved the photos that came out of this lens! Deffo thinking about picking this up! It would be easier to make the decision if you could please make a vid on this 65mm vs the sigma 85mm 1.4! This was a great video and your portraits are incredible, keep up the good work!
Love from India
Why do you always cut the feet and legs off? Shooting with a 1.5 aspect ratio camera does not mean all pictures have to have that aspect ratio also.
Are you saying that you always shoot full body no matter what? 😂🥱
Like you said, this lens has character. Love my 50mm but definitely this is worth trying. That burleigh preset is 🔥 🔥I’m buying the pack next week as once I get home. 🙏
Отличная серия фотографий) Великолепно! Так держать и дальше) Спасибо за видео 👍
Cool portraits! Thanks for the comparison with the 50mm, really liking the 65mm there. The out of focus areas are definitely nicer as well.
Starting to get really jealous of the Sony lens selection, I like the diversity that the third-party lenses bring.
Canon, you're going to lose customers like this!
Picked up the sigma 65mm about a month ago as well and was hesitant as I’m use to the 50mm range but really been loving it after a couple shoots!
The only thing I wish was a bit better was the minimum focus distance but besides that much better size than the 50mm 1.2 and cheaper!
glad to see this lens getting some love! the shots i've gotten from this lens have always turned out special. sharp + beautiful bokeh. you should try the Samyang 135mm f1.8, as magical or even better ;)
it's a solid lens, shame its F2, should've been at least f1.4
I think that would’ve ruined what sigma was going for. The series of primes this is from is about compact while still having good AF and optical performance. Also, not every prime needs to be 1.4 or 1.8 as most modern cameras have great ISO performance and weight matters.
@@TheRebelBagel 100% agree with you! Unless you’re going for only having someone’s eye in tac focus but not thier temple having lower and lower f stop becomes too sharp and Deminishing returns. Size for weight performance far ‘out weighs’ having lower fstop for being a half kilo lighter. Even my f1.8’s I set to f2 and above most of the time
i am your big fan
Hy how can you earn money from pexels
Stop making me want to buy more gear
Samyang's 75mm might also torture You nicely.
Samyang 75mm 1.8 > sigma 65
the lens is fine but your styles and how you fit editing's in every portrait is different, we want more editing video brother
Isn’t it too bad that Sigma only supports Sony now. I just found out and I don’t think it is fair. There are allot of other type cameras out there and to only support one brand, I think, is damaging to the company.
I mean if they have the most success with Sony then why use up more funds for other systems? Plus look at what Canon is doing with 3rd party lens manufacturers.
Incorrect. Sigma make lenses for L mount too which is used by Lumix and Leica. Sigma would make RF and Z mount lenses but they’re not allowed to due to those mounts having active patents. So take your issue up with Canon and Nikon for closing their mount to third parties.
Sigma has Nikon Z-mount lenses coming out this year. They also make L-Mount which has Panasonic/Lumix, Leica, and Sigma camera bodies. They don't make Canon because Canon won't allow third party lenses.
Not really feeling it, the background rendering is not a pleasing visually 😢❤
yeah..it doesn't look that great. I'll pass
