Another incredibly beautiful walk! Loved all the history - very interesting! It always amazes me when you walk these sunken roads & trails; the centuries it must of took to tramp a trail/path that deep into the earth!!! Was a big fan of the show Bletchly Park, so it was interesting also to see one of the places those ladies did their secret coding. Always great to see the fabulous Liz!!! Such a sweet, smart, charming, funny, beautiful & elegant lady!!!

Richard - thanks for this, and for me great memories! For a while I lived at Farther Commons which is close to the smugglers' way just south of Liss. I used to walk this section to and from the Harrow at Steep. Great times, thought you needed a good torch for a winter evening return home!

Thank you Richard and Elizabeth for a good look at Hampshire woods. I've never seen this, having either been in Winchester, Lymington & Brockenhurst way. If you're in the New forest have a tea at the orangery of the Rhinefeild House Hotel, or a few more pennies, Chewton Glen in Highcliffe - I got to work there briefly.

I'll bet the scent as you walk along there in May will be beautiful with the bluebells in full bloom.

Yes I bet it is - looking for a bluebell wood to wonder through then for sure.

I ride my bike past Stodham on my way to work and back again almost on a daily basis and never knew it had such an interesting history. Thanks for the video. Just up from Stodham there is a tree and earth formation that looks as though a Dragon has fallen asleep in the woods and it is very striking and suits the atmosphere of the land.

Hi Stephen, so glad you enjoyed the video. I will have to go and find that sleeping dragon some time.

If you want to see more sunken lanes head on up to Selbourne and take any of the lanes heading east down into Blackmoor.

Great show Richard but Im afraid Elizabeth is wrong at 1:45 in saying that wood for HMS Victory was carried down Shipwrights Way as HMS Victory was in fact built at Chatham Dockyard and launched on 7 May 1765.
She is still in service today and has been the flagship of the First Sea Lord since October 2012.
Hailing from Kent as I do I have to fly the flag for the "Men of Kent" and the "Kentish Men" you understand ;)

So sorry we got the facts wronmg - please always feel free to correct me when the mistakes arise. A yes, fly the flag for Kent!

HMS Victory was built in Chatham not Portsmouth.

Fair enough, you got me there - and I nearly got away with it. I will sneak an untruth in somewhere else to see if you notice :)
