There are 1.5 million NGO's in this country, with another 500 thousand foundations, churches etc., so tell me what they do with all the fed funding, and donations they get? It doesn't seem like they are helping the homeless with the billions they take in here.
You are soo smart
they do not.
If you are mentioning meth, fentanyl or criminal behavior you aren't being honest about much of the problem.
They make sure they get paid good first before giving anything to the homeless called out a program the warriors refugee because they was treating veterans like crap
Where is all Federal and State funds going for homeless NATIONWIDE its NOT GOING TO HOMELESS FOR DECADES. Homeless is expanding from coast to coast. Someone needs investigation on billions not housing homeless. 😮
Some of those homeless are veterans. Give them some shelters!
When i was coming up if Dropped out of school ,went to jail , was a complete failure you would just Join the Army . Vets that were drafted is a different story . a lot of vets couldn't take care of them selves when they were young they joined the Army - just Facts Homeless people are all Homeless and need Housing not just a Vet .
The largest economy in earth can't develop a program to help those people and solve their problems?!!
Reopen pain clinics, another Tallahassee dream , for funding.
Not all homeless are the same this is teary and unconstitutional
What about all the working homeless whose jobs don't pay enough to rent the crappiest apartment in the city where they work? DeSantis' plan is to round them up and move them to a location far from their job, far from public transportation, basically taking their ability to work from them. All homeless I know work.
It is giving me a picture of a encampment usually near the county jail made up of fema trailers, mobile trailers, rv type etc. Oh that's what I see stacking up near my local jail, maybe these items ate stacking up near yours!
Have they considered moving?
The new law says that counties and cities MUST provide a designated place where the homeless can sleep, bathe, eat, and use the restroom and that place can not be on a bus bench, sidewalk, or under a bridge. Sounds like those who oppose the law would rather have the homeless be on the sidewalk, etc.,without those things.
Are you willing to pay more taxes so the cities and county can fund these items?
The homeless shelters are unbearable because they are run like jail and it's full of mentally ill people. Even if you had nowhere to go you would want out after a short while. You wouldn't want to be in jail with mentals dangerous people talking to themselves and worse
Every time such facilities are provided they almost immediately get destroyed.
@@xxxxMonkeyGirlxxxx I don't think it's a case of whether we want to pay more taxes or not. We WILL pay more taxes to have facilities for the homeless, among other, less humanitarian expenditures. We can't have it both ways. Either the homeless will be sleeping on the sidewalk in front of your house, or you will pay more in taxes to prevent them laying all over everywhere. It is not their fault. Most/many of them would much prefer to have stayed in their apartments, but can no longer afford even a room somewhere on disability or Social Security.
I donate monthly to our local charity that provides health care, clothing, food, Bible study and hair cuts for free. Provides counseling and assistance getting off drugs. But the homeless have chores and have to help out as well. They help them find housing and jobs. It’s sad but many of the ones that don’t utilize this just want to continue using drugs. Our mayor has banned panhandling at intersections bc so many accidents were occurring. I donate clothes also. We also have a tiny house village they are building for them.
Anyone can become homeless these days
The reporter is putting words in their mouths.
Hospital and doctor bills make people homeless.
I disagree, if that’s the case why illegals come here with nit ing and they already have places to live
Go to a shelter, church, nonprofit. Not right for everyone to have to see you sleeping/pooping on a public sidewalk.
@thatoneguy94512 there isn't enough homeless shelters by far. You clearly aren't a Christian
This country can find money to help people in other countries and for people who are not even citizens, but they CAN"T find money to help their OWN citizens. CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME. Not surprised by this from DeSatan
Duh
Desantis isn't funding foreign wars.
sorry dont want to help bums , lazy and drug addicts, only want to help people with mental issues from birth @@Dee-ye2dk
GREED is what it’s called , constantly raising prices, non livable wages, but it’s okay when you already have these things, instead of caring and sharing all these people think is of themselves and think their going to live peacefully smdh, just treat the less fortunate like 💩 but wait it’s only going to get worse trust me, it surely states in the Bible
No one is allowed to sleep in public areas. Get your info right!
You are incorrect.
Tell the cops that they are arresting every homeless persons they find .
We should be able to walk in a park safely.
Just because their homeless don't mean they are dangerous thank the housing market it's hard to afford housing thanks to Washington
You CAN walk safely. They made homelessness illegal. They didn't take away your 2nd amendment rights... yet.
We should be able to keep what we earn.
Nobody on the streets isn't on drugs. Not affording a home is utopian delusion.
@@JamesBlake_7171 So you think anywhere homeless people sleep there isn't an increase in crime and drugs? You're nuts. Let's have them camp on your lawn and see how safe you feel.
The Unites States Government is at fault for any American homelessness.
How do you figure it is the government's fault for people not taking their responsibilities
@@wayneanglin6059 The illegals in this country are treated better than the citizens that are homeless. THe government has plenty of money to send to Ukraine to be squandered but none for the needy here.
@@nangee2990 yep and we need to stop it all working people shouldn't have to pay for lazy people
no, everyone is responsible for their own lives...
@@user-bs2ok3yv8i they are but that doesnt mean we cant help others
Imagine if only a fraction of the $75+ billion squandered in Ukraine was instead used to help homeless Americans 🤔🧐
Imagine if they would use anti monopoly laws and forced private equity firms to liquidate single family homes.
Yes but divide it equal dont punish me and give me not a thing because i have a Job .
🙏 AMEN SQUANDERED SUPPOSED TO UKRAINE BUT NO ONE CAN FIND THE MONEY IN ANY AUDIT. WERE BEING ROBBED...😮
Censorship is bs!
AGREE!!!!
Southern Life has done many CZcams videos of the homeless camps deep in the woods. What you see on the curbs etc is a fraction of the actual number of homeless. I service stores where there is many hanging out on the streets. Very few bother me.
Rather deal with the homeless than the entitled citizens of our state. The homeless never gave me problems.
@@stephenbrown7815Yet
We should be able to help our community, not stigmatize them
The U.S. government has directed about $75 Billion in assistance to Ukraine 🇺🇦 and overall has sent about $300 B to Israel.
Yes Congress voted against it but our administration found a loophole to still send the money.
You can't blame Florida for not wanting to look like California with all the homeless people
You obviously have not visited Miami. It may be worse than L.A. Every block is a homeless camp. EVERY BLOCK. Florida is just trying to generate revenue by putting all its citizens in jail. People in Florida refer to trips to prison as "rites of passage." Its pretty f'd up. Cops are like hawks here. They pick off their prey one by one.
Spoken like a true Christian
You obviously have not been to Miami in a while. There is not a single block in Miami without homeless camps. It may be worse than L.A. Making it illegal is synonymous with class warfare.
@@MarkMayhew who said I was Christian but for your information but seeing how you know everything I don't go to any church where there is Christian Jewish Muslim for whatever
then Florida business community should pay like a man.
Here where I live, you have homeless people sleeping on the sidewalks day and night, right next to major roads with their feet sometimes hanging off the curb, laying right there right on the sidewalk and you can’t even go to parks or anything without a lot of homeless people don’t get me wrong I feel bad about the homeless people But there should be designated areas for them to stay
We are living in the last days where the rich will be getting richer and the poor will be getting poorer.
I've been homeless before and I know how it feels to be homeless. There's a lot of good people that become homeless.
True.......
Living on the street should always be illegal. Drug addicts do not get to decide anything because they cannot decide to stop doing illegal drugs. It's time to get harsh and direct on this issue.
Where are the churches, synagogues, houses of worship and pastors? We NO longer have leaders at churches that would step up and work with city governments to be a bridge to the homeless and also work with non-profits. We did not have this problem in the 50s 60s, 70s, 80s, yes housing has become expensive and rent, but at those times as well - because the Church was involved. Some churches provides meals, but what about a shelter with assistance form the cities. A true partnership to help those that REALLY want to help themselves. As @777sweet has noted there are several categories of homeless and I agree.
But is also the individual that is willing to MOVE out of this situation and note I can no longer live like this - I have seen many that JUST want to be VICTIMS and not get work, not get off the streets, ask for money, and some even have iPhones with a plan. It is NOT the government to solve your problems if for your to solve your own problems. Goverment is the last resort. There are some many resources in Florida I have seen them and use them for my elderly mother with no income and who is mentall ill. Some will refuse help and want to be homeless. I am not heartless for I know that other like the mental ill or the elderly might not be able to work and other accommodations need to be worked out. The problem can be solved if we work as a community but also the individual must say I need to put an effort to get out of this situation.
I'm going to be honest with you. I think they're too busy with their mega churches, talking up who you should vote for and getting in bed with politicians do such a thing, there still are religious organizations that do good works like that but obviously priorities have changed.
I mean there was always homeless but it does seem a lot worse than what it used to be. I mean we probably haven't seen homelessness like this quite some time. I wouldn't really know exactly the statistics but it seems like it's worse than it's been in decades.
@@KCH55 Yes, blame the churches while you yourself have taken in ZERO homeless people. Virtue signal harder.
They are corrupt!
Our President loves abortions and he is a Catholic?
In all fairness, many churches DO help in various ways in feeding, housing, outreach, vouchers, etc. as much as they can. They can only do what the congregation allows financially and helps plan for. Churches are just people. You and me. We don't need a church to help the homeless, and when greed is running rampant across our land, the churches are not exempt. Everyone looks for someone to blame, but it's the fault of business, industry, government, big and small landlords - everyone contributes to this. But even back in the day, there were homeless. There just were not as many. Get them big tents, and designate large areas for tent cities that are on a bus route to town. Have the tent cities serviced the same way we are serviced - with garbage/dumpster pickup, water sources, sanitation and safe food prep areas. People who have incomes can help pay their share, like rents. Just like campgrounds where campers pay to stay. I would like to see a "Homeless Sponsor Program" where individuals can be sponsored by anyone who wants to contribute monthly to their welfare. This money would go to the individual and some to the agency for needs. I would sponsor someone if there were such a program.
Why is she standing a football field away....
LOL
Smell😮
If not for this tyrannical gov..
A fair amount of us wouldn't be in this position!
State Level thought process.....
We will pass mandates to have the perception we are doing something.
But we will ensure the local governments foot the bill.
What’s wrong with the government provided shelters? Where are their family members? Can’t the nonprofits conduct a donation drive? Homeless people shouldn’t loiter on private property or any public property designated for regular enjoy by residents. Fixing social problems is the responsibility of society…not the government.
It's a government's job to take care of it's citizens. That's the entire point of government, to allocate resources, not depend on charity of some rich baron or bigoted piety.
Yes, amazing how this country is so insane now that people are actually FIGHTING for homeless people to set up their disgusting camps on public property. Who wants to go to a beach full of bums?
The state isn't doing anything to help shelters would still kick then out during the day
The government frowns on me when I tell these folks to GTFO my store front property.....not sure why.....
@@eriklee1794 like every place they will still kick out during the day so won't help at all and you have no say if on public property
Its terrible down here.. the homeless in tampa seens to get worse every week..
First of all, there’s different categories of homelessness.
1) Drug addicts that’s just lurking around
2) Mentally ill which you have to be careful
3) low income workers ( yes they need help)
4) Veterans mixed with both mental illness
There’s actually free programs to upgrade skills
Also, there should be more affordable housing. Stop these AirBnB and corporations buying up housing.
That's the party of God.😂😂😂
Yes, a leftist paradise where no one is homeless. You of course have no plan on how to achieve this goal short of a total communist takeover.
You forgot;
5) Venezuelan home invaders
@@kommisar. If your definition of communism is affordable housing and rehabilitation programs for mentally ill people then this communist takeover sounds alright. More like Democratic Socialism is the precise term. But you don't quite get it I see.
Families are in cars, college students are homeless. Teenagers, average working man, seniors. People have the image of a bum/drug addict when they think of a homeless individual.
The categories I mentioned above are the invisible homeless people no one acknowledges.
I am below poverty with no credit and looking for low income housing. The apartments want a unrefundable application fee which can cost anywhere from $35 to $75. I could go through a whole months social security just for application fee's.
Wow Draconian policies getting better and better..
All it would take to solve this problem is for counties to allow ADU's, tiny homes and temporary housing on private properties.
Orlando and Miami will never be a World Class City like San Francisco is if we do not allow the homeless free access to our streets and doorways. I wonder how many International Corporations will now look to relocate to other states and bring their high paying jobs to the other cities who embrace homelessness.
They been trying for years to do this in Miami. People seriously believe Miami is a mini New York. Their trying to reinvent Florida even if it means keeping the homeless out of view.
Out of sight out of mind
I just don't know what to make out from your comment. It sounded really misleading.
Federal funds for halfway houses not churches.
I have worked in homelessness for 25 years - I am liberal whatever the heck that means these days but practical and wise after years of working with homeless and homeless agencies- cities and states have the right to clamp down on street living. Living homeless has become a bit of a normative choice for many and a reason to not go back to family for others. There needs to be something to make it more difficult to living on the streets for long periods of time. There continues to be help in almost all counties in Florida - save some rural areas . No fan of DeSantis, but there is no unlimited right to sleep on the streets. I wish the article would report on how many vacancies at current shelters and programs there are - since they are typically 80% full - some more than others. Anyone that wants to get off the street can. Even the very mentally ill ones - there are programs. It is a county by county issue. Homelessness has and always will exist - but it need not be this crazy. There is so much the people and media and experts don't understand about homelessness. Most "homeless" are housed in housing called "shelters" which are little different than SRO or cramped SRO (single room only) - they get a lot of services but there have little privacy, so to speak, that is the real federal definition of homeless - housed without privacy. Talk to anyone's grandparents or parents about privacy, they will laugh. Only the last two generations and too many women (sorry but true) think unless you have your own bathroom - you should be defined as homeless.
What's a good idea to prevent people from living on the streets
Free tickets on Greyhound to New York City!
Those places would still kick them outside during the day so doesn't he'll at all
@@user-hj4uf9wz1z That is one of the dumb things about shelters. HUD or Cities should not allow that - if you going to provide shelter - needs to be 24/7 or the point is moot. Its the whole thinking that is still backwards.
@@kingokafor6215 The only way it has ever worked when social norms have withered is to make it illegal like it used to be essentially. The issue is not affordable housing either - if it was then you would see tons of families on the streets since they have to pay even more for a larger place.
What's next, the poor, the elderly? I smell more republican encampments coming, will there be arm bands too?
GIVE them FIRST CLASS HOTELS , like you do the MIGRANTS!!
Denver tried that at great cost to citizens...didn't work, murder, filth and drugs.
Putting all the alligators in one place. This bill is a disgrace and needs to be overturned.
Tiny houses. Millions let in, no jobs store closures, higher prices. 3 rd world living poverty thats what the United Nations shut down made for our country.
Buy-Rent an old cruise ship.
Plenty of room for NGO to setup shop, place to eat and shower.
Hell, go all out and asign an registered address so they can get jobs more easily.
Where do you put them after this. A percentage of them work too, but can't afford rent right up front.
2:08 Albany NY does the same thing and we have all seen how that ends. Believe me, the taxpayers in Florida will own this bill when it's time to pay for these county and city mandates.
Joe just imported 20 million more!
99% of those come to work and make a living and pay taxes and also will contribute with social security and medicaid
only a tiny percentage of immigrants end up on the streets
We could of taken care of our national debt with the amount of money we're sending overseas
Push them off public property means they will be forced onto your property. But thats what you asked for so here you go .
Sounds like this will help them get a new home! Drug addicts don't want to be housed. I was in the business of housing homeless and know first hand. This law will help them!
Addicts are going to do what addicts do. Addicts change when they get ready to change and that’s about it.
@X_crypto1977 However, citizens shouldn't have to deal with it until they do.
They can do what many states already do. Designate certain rest parking lots for overnight 8pm to 8am sleeping for those with cars that churches offer, set up case management tent city to help them set up care plan/progress etc away from public and helter skelter, set up separate program for families and singles. Theres options. Theres also cost effective appraoches. It does work.
What is insane about the U.S. government is that it’s so far in debt that every 100 days the interest payment on that debt is around 1.5 trillion. The government wants to enforce another 400 billion dollar in taxes in year 2025 will cause the official recession, higher unemployment, more evictions, poverty and homelessness. The government isn’t doing anything to fix the problems it’s responsible for.
Look at ho w much it costs for a home lol
I'm homeless try and arrest me. Not happening
I should be able to sleep and camp in any public land, as i pay taxes and is public, belongs to the people.
You Can, But Not live there and take it over ! You pay Taxes but go to a nice Park and walk around the trash and Crap on the Ground. its one thing to be Homeless another to be a Hobo
Then provide them with a place to go. Send them to Martha's Vinyard..
There's literally no problem with this bill. The only problem is the homeless people staying sober long enough to actually be qualified for assistance. Lmao
You don't have to be sober to get assistance. What are you talking about? Where are the homeless shelters? The state of Florida should provide homeless shelters to its improvish residents.
a law that forces cities to provide shelter for the homeless is being framed as a bad thing.
Bottom line, its not up to the state or the public to care where the homeless go. It's not on the backs of tax payers to house them. That being said, Veterans are an exception to this rule to some degree. In the past law enforcement has always been the group left to manage law breakers. Somehow living in public spaces not built for living hasn't been illegal? Apply common sense...and do your job.
Im homeless.
Wait a minute now... isn't that disturbing the peace? 🤔
That homeless truck is amazing idea
I dont drink or do drugs i end up in jail i feel for the vengance that ill seek
Once people become homeless sure to the extremely high insurance and taxes run them out of their homes... desantis will have to address the cause..... instead of the symptoms.
Calling bs on this one.
Yes! They can all go to California they love homeless
You can't just turn your head and pretend like you don't see them.. they are hurting and need help.. making a law like this just shows that the law makers have no compassion... they are our brothers and sisters, our kids ,our parents , who are having the hardest times in their lives.. what would you do if you lost everything, and suddenly your family turned their backs.. find compassion people.. Jesus would be sleeping right beside them.. holding their hands through it all.. politicians should be ashamed of themselves..
Providing Reparations to Black Americans would have ended Homelessness in America a long time ago!
Why dont they work and live together
Would you? Do it.
They often do when the are allowed to.

And not every homeless person is on drugs
I’m not against this but the thing is will the state pay for all of this? Because some of these towns don’t have the budget without raising other towns taxes. And I guarantee you the ones who are happy about this will be pissed off because their taxes increased. The city, where to find the money somewhere for they’ll raise taxes.
There is no need for homeless to be in the best areas of the state or in neighborhoods. Loads of inland vacant areas they can camp.
Instead of sending money over seas, you need to give EACH AND EVERYONE A MILLION DOLLARS TO GET STRAIGHT. IT'S REALLY SAD THAT THERE IS PEOPLE OPPOSED TO THAT IDEA. IT WOULD CREATE SUCH A RICH AND SAFE NATION. PEACE
I guess for these folks getting a job is out of the question.

All of them with the exception of the one in the wheelchair seem strong enough to endure the responsibility of a job.. But they don't want to do it.
How you know they don't want to have a job? I'm homeless.. but child support eats my whole check of a 1000 dollars a month. 1400 I make in a month... Where can I rent a room 400 a month and still eat, at your house.. just because you can type doesn't mean jack... What's the real problem here
How is it a burden for law enforcement? One of the best answer to this question is LAW ENFORCEMNET sleeps in public parks and public areas all the time doing it covertly to avoid being caught. How ever it isn't burden to them when they alway get special preferences as they all do when breaking actual laws now they get to sleep without being seen by people that need a place to sleep.

You know everywhere look it seems like I see more cities and places building more apartments more businesses and stuff like that and you know a lot of that is good but how about building more homeless shelters shelters that will help these people get On their feet and offer them services to find jobs and places to stay we need more shelters like that more than we need anything else. Because I see a lot of people that are devoting these people toiletries that they would need and And blankets including food but they can't Really give them much else Like a shelter Cities need to start building more shelters than houses Apartment buildings and businesses Because I believe that the homeless shelter need is greater than that.
