well, since there is no direct contact with water and the wall & Granite has a good seal between so water leaks the Mounts can last a very long time without any worries. You'll probably end up replacing the Basin and the Mount before any real problems occur

And open drain pipe doesn't look good at all. Such kind of wash basin needs to be installed under the counter in this case under the granite.
