I hiked and got lost stumbling across what looked to be a eerie dark tunnel somewhere around the heavily dense forest of Mt. Shasta. I felt a heavy presence around me and my inner voice was telling me to not even consider going near this cave entrance tunnel. I was already in a screwed situation having lost my way back to my original starting point of the hike. I kept thinking that I wouldn't survive through the night with nothing on me but some hiking boots, jeans, shirt and a light pullover jacket. In the January months out there it got damn freezing cold by 4pm and I was already seeing the sun slowly fade away. My thought was to find shelter in that cave and gather some dead leaves and a wood stick and start a fire to begin my long cold dark night ahead of me. I observed the entrance to this cave for quite sometime just to make sure it wasn't being occupied by wild bears or other flesh eating animals. Then as it got pitch dark I forced myself to go into this nightmare dark cave and began to hurry up and start the fire I knew would be my only saving grace to keep warm and calm my nerves from the total pitch black unknown that surrounded me as I was many miles away from people and felt all alone helpless in this dark scary cave. It took atleast 30 min to get the dead timber to ignite into a fire and when it finally did it lit up this dark cave and started revealing a gruesome looking site. I would have ran straight outta their if it wasn't for the fact that I needed the protection of this cave to survive through the night. What I saw were bones everywhere some looked like animal bones and some looked like.....well I'm not sure so I kept saying to myself that it was all animal bones and stop overthinking into the worst case about what else type of bones it could be. The fire woke up all the local insects who had a undisturbed home in that cave before I came along and they were quick to greet me showing their displeasure of my presence. I finally tore some material off my inner shirt and wrapped it around a stick and created a hand torch to burn off all the creepy crawlers who would come near me. While that was a job in within itself I noticed carvings on the wall of this cave and it wasnt graffiti carvings or anything that was done by modern humans. It appeared to me that no modern human had ever step foot in this cave and I was the unlucky one to be the first. I thought to myself that there was no way for me to sit down and consider resting or sleeping because I didn't want to end up just being a pile of bones like the rest of the visitors in there and I would have to physically tough it out until sunrise which seemed to be along ways from now. I couldn't help but think maybe the cave got better conditions if I kept going down the dark eerie tunnel as it traveled inwards more. Normally I would have thought this was crazy beyond anything but I was getting tired of staring at a boneyard with creepy carvings on the wall while burning off insects that didn't seem to stop coming after me. So I took my makeshift torch and optimistic self and quickly walked more into the tunnel of doom jumping at anything I saw and felt around me like a scared little girl. I did notice the conditions were getting mildly better and the ground was just rocky dirt with no more bones in sight laying around. The carvings weren't on the walls of the tunnel anymore and it seemed I was the only idiot that had ever traveled that deep into this unknown tunnel before because it was void of any type of life. I had to gather whatever I could find to create a lasting fire for the night and that task was not a simple feat. While gathering I disturbed alot of things that hadn't ever been touched by man and a colony of big spiders quickly dispersed everywhere but left me alone and soon disappeared. Once I got the fire going my job was to not let it go out and to stay alert for any surprises that may come my way. Then I heard something that I can't describe because I've never heard this noise before and it was freaking me out and I was starting to lose it mentally because nothing in my life had prepared me for this little disaster I was in and I was just having to deal with one thing after the next. This noise was not making itself known and after awhile I just accepted it as the cave Spirits were talking or yelling at me and since they were spirits and couldn't physically harm me then the least I could do is just put up with it and try to learn if any sequence of this noise was repeating a pattern like some type of language. It drove me nuts not be able to figure this noise out and it began to wear on me and I began to grow angry and somewhat confident cussing at the noise and yelling back at it thinking I just survived everything so far and I think I could kick a few spirits asses if they tempted me enough. So I mocked this noise yelling Thats all you got motherfuckers!! Bring it on!!! Cause when it gets daylight I'm gonna get outta this cave and go back the way I cam from and when I get back I'm gonna remember this trail back here to this God forbidden cave and I'm bring a whole Lotta people back here like me to disturb the shit outta this little secret unknown tunnel and we are gonna have big tractor equipment and tear this place wide open to all hell!!!!!!
After yelling these threats for sometime the noise went away and things got manageable bear for awhile then I stood their sleeping standing upright tired from yelling and just wanted some sound sleep. As the first hint of dawn ran outta that cave and as I was leaving the front entry way a big gust of wind blew me out to the morning daylight as if the spirits were like telling me Now stay out and you better not come back with all your friends and fuck with us cause we left you alone and you survived your night with us! So I thanked the lord and fleed like a bitch not caring where I was going but eventually ran into some hikers who gave me water and snacks and walked with me back to civilization again. I will never go back to the vicinity of this area again or will I ever go hiking outdoors in a dense forest area again for the rest of my life. Mt Shasta has an omni presence around it and it's not human or animal kind. It's unexplainable and mysterious almost alien feeling. As I was recounting this tale here I was being overcomed by something and it made the hair on my arms stand up. Almost as if I will never quite get over my experience that night or whatever was in there never quite left me and still is with me..........but only when I mention of it.

I remember being at Lake Shasta with some friends in the middle of the night. We kept hearing what sounded like chains dragging. Finally we got freaked out about it enough to leave. As we were driving outta there we went around some bend to see what looked like a puddle of oil in the middle of the road lit up by the headlights of the car. Before we could even figure out what to do the puddle lifted up into the air in front of us taking on the form of like... A garbage bag floating in water... That's the best way I can describe it. It was black and shimmery and amoebic. It didn't stay there in front of us more than a few seconds before it ascended. I was in the back seat and we had the sunroof already open to let smoke escape. I looked up as the driver started to drive and could still see it blacking out the already black sky around it.

I received some amazing healings from some gigantic star elder beings while camping at Castle Lake after spending some physically painful days up near Panther Meadows doing ceremony. Some powerful stuff there and I was not really ready for it but who is.... My painful left hip was healed and I've never had issues with it since... One of my teachers calls Mt. Shasta, "Disneyland for Woo Woos". Well, not sure I would disrespect it by saying that but my camping group and I sure had some interesting experience the week we spent up there!

I had a life threatening drive through there from Oregon on February 13, 2019. 8 Feet of snow at the Pilot center in weed, freeway from weed airport to Redding was closed to all cars right after I went through and there were nearly a hundred trees in the freeway during the drive, the worst of it being in Drunsmuir. I have always felt like strange things happen between Redding and Mt. Ashland Oregon that nowhere else in the world feels like to me.

    EXCELLENT essay on Mt. Shasta/Weed!
When I lived in the LA area, we used to pass by there on the way to Portland. There is indeed a 'vibe' in the area, and it feels very peaceful and easy to live there.
Funny story: At the last place that I worked, there was a fellow Californian that worked with me. He disclosed that he was from... WEED, of all places! (I hope that that was an omen/sign/portent of future travels).
May your travels remain entertaining and enlightening, your mind at peace, and may you have the wind at your back. --Dave

Truth be known, you and I couldn’t possibly be on further ends in our political beliefs and I must admit that I roll my eyes sometimes! But, you are doing what you want. I find you brave, confident, and interesting! So, we have different beliefs on some topics, but it changes nothing in my appreciation of your rv- ing life. I was 6 months pregnant with my oldest son and we drove through on our way home to Redding from visiting the in laws in Washington the day after the spill, we had to keep the windows up in the car in July while we were stuck in awful traffic at a complete stand still for hours, I remember how damaging the spill was to the river in the area,, it was horrible.
