Amazed more people don't know the blind guitarist, Jeff Healey, one of the greatest Blues guitarists to have ever lived and the pride of Canada,
RIP my friend
In several interviews over the years, actor Marshall Teague who played Jimmy, said that the final fight between his character and Dalton, which took place down by the river was a real fight. He didn't like Swayze when he first arrived on set, because he said that Swayze basically ignored him for the first 2 weeks and he thought that he was a stuck up Hollywood douche. So during the beginning of the fight, Swayze lands a light kick on him and he mocked him for it. So the second take, Swayze lands a "freight train" of a kick on him, as he called it and he went flying. Teague, being a kickboxing champion from his Army days told Swayze "Now that's more like it" and the two of them went at it for real. The blood running down Teague's eye was from a real cut Swayze gave him from a round house kick and the log that Teague busted over Swayze's ribs breaking 2 of them, was a real log, not a prop and it wasn't in the script either, he just grabbed it and hit Swayze with it. They both had to go to the hospital after finishing the fight scene and both became good friends after that, having earned each other's respect.
"pain don't hurt" and "you're too stupid to have a good time" have stuck with me basically my whole life : D
Patrick Swayze is the only actor who could utter the line "Pain don't hurt" and pull it off. RIP Mr. Swayze.
This is such a classic... and so is Point Break. You need to see this next.
Point Break is a good film too. Road House had the Kung Fu, choreography, great plot, amazing women, a tit fest, I feel Road House was more of a classic, a Western to the Hong Kong martial arts films, with much better acting.
I went to school with a girl that her aunt and uncle adopted Jeff (the blind guy singing and playing guitar) and others like him. They were a very close family and she told us all sorts of family reunions. She said Jeff was the life of the party. May he rest in peace
Ask nearly anyone who grew up in the late 80s and early 90s what's their favorite Swayze movie, Most Men will say Road House and most women will say Dirty Dancing. Not many actors can have truly iconic movies for both male and female.
On a side note, one of the Mercedes that was destroyed in this movie used to sit at a garage about 3 miles from my childhood home. The owner of that garage was personal friends with Swayze.
My favorite Swayze movie is actually a toss up between Road House and Ghost.
@@toodlescae I will admit that Ghost has the better story, but I'm just a sucker for 80s action. So I lean more towards Road House.
Speaking as a woman, Road House is my favorite, although I do love Dirty Dancing. It's not always a binary.
@@Blaize24 Not always, that's why I said most. You have to admit, that's usually the way it goes.
@teddyray9336 I loved Next of Kin.
Now you understand why a lot of people are not really keen on the new roadhouse movie. How in the h!@ do you top or even come up to Patrick Swayze's level.🙂🙂
AND Sam Elliot!
You don’t
New ones great, old ones great. Neither erases the other
I do security, and that rule of being nice actually makes it possible to do your job good. Lol
@@charlesmaurer6214 I used to do security in Downtown and South Los Angeles..... It's challenging at times but patient persistence is sometimes necessary.
One of the best answers ever. "A polar bear fell on me".
Years ago I got to hang out with Marshall Teague in Nashville. He's from Newport Tennessee, Vietnam vet and studied hapkido. He played a great bad guy.
@@charlesmaurer6214and got hit with asteroid parts in Armageddon.
I work in private security, and I actually teach my people Dalton's rules. Sadly, most of them are so young, they've never seen this!
The great thing about the original ROADHOUSE is that besides Patrick Swayze you also have the amazing JEFF HEALEY. The incredible blind guitarist that played with SRV and some of the most and best blues guitarist ever. He passed away a few years after this movie. He and his music is still absolutely amazing!!!
If Chuck Norris was in this movie as the main protagonist rather than Patrick Swayze, playing a similar but very different kind of character than Swayze's, then Brad Wesley and his men should be terrified of him for who he is, what he capable of, and that they should never underestimate him as one of the most dangerous, deadliest, and feared men on Earth.
Great reaction! Fun to see your enthusiasm for this classic
Great review man. And if it didn’t work out…. “There’s always barber college” 😂🤘
Jeff Healey’s career was in hard swing about the time this movie was made. Excellent blind musician who put an edge on the blues with his slide guitar. If you’re looking for a new band to listen to, you’d do well to explore the Jeff Healey Band. ✌🏻
Fun fact: The part of “Red Webster” is played by Red West, who was a friend, and trusted member of Elvis’ “Memphis Mafia”.
✌🏼😎🇺🇸
The movie is loosely based on the true story of Ken McElroy who was killed after terrorizing a small town. An interesting read in itself.
Great reaction, Jonathan! I could watch this movie every month. :)
I agree, great reaction. I think the heart of the film is Jeff Healey. His guitar music is the best and when combined with all the martial arts, great cameras angles and the plot building up to the killings, it is just a true blokes film.
"I could run through a brick wall right now!". ...funny
That is EXACTLY how i felt after watching Road House for the first time. I remember in the 90's my friend starting running around punching and kicking everywhere. Somehow the film combined so many things.
35:24 Jonathan Ludwikowski, carefully watch the original again, that scene where Patrick Swayze comes is the whole range of acting emotions. Struts in, laughs to see Sam Elliott laying sideways on the bar, jokes on having one beer too many, comes by to wake him, turns Sam over, just for the knife just come into shot. That range starts from jesting to smiling, to absolute shock, eyes to horror, glaring at a friend, sadness, denial, shaking, mourning, pity touching with the hand touching the friend, to realising for removing the knife, calming gasping to relax, starting to tear inside the right eye, licking the lips, hyperventilating clutching the knife, tear roll down whilst clasping the knife grip, then finishing with the expression of pulling the knife out. 43 seconds long. Jonathan remember this film was given awful reviews at the time by Siskel & Ebert, which on you tube you can see how bad. How the reviewers got it so badly wrong, is beyond anything, knowing the film is a cult classic and a master class.
Fun fact. The fight scene at the end they just went for it properly. I watched a documentary about Patrick’s life and the films he was in, the villain actor said him and Patrick agreed it would be better for the film.
Now, watch Patrick Swayze again in Point Break & Red Dawn. More awesome movies for you.
Jonathan here! Should be watching Point Break for Popcorn's sister channel soon
@criminal-content
@@popcornroulettereactions POINT BREAK is fantastic. The first FAST AND FURIOUS film from 2001 is in many key parts of the story, a rip-off of POINT BREAK.
Also check out the Charlie Sheen movie No Man's Land, its another Fast and Furious type movie, basically same plot@@richardlukesh5807
Swayze’s love interest became his wife in real life and that’s where they met on the making of that movie until the day Patrick Swayze passed away.
I think he got married in 1975
1. This was my first Patrick Swazye movie and I've seen as many of his other films as I could. RIP Pat😇
2. He was a professional ballet dancer, but injured his knee so he took up acting. "Ghost", "The Outsiders" and "Red Dawn" would be more of him.
3. Who doesn't love Sam Elliot?
4. Location goof: Mountains can be seen in some long shots. There aren't any mountains near Kansas City.
5. This didn't get the love it deserved. It has now become classic.
6. This holds the claimed title "The best bad movie ever". I disagree. I love it.😁
I have never seen your channel before but this is one of my favorite movies of all time..... just finished and I gotta say that was a great reaction!!!!!!!!!!! Much love and you got a new sub!
My wife always shakes her head when I acknowledge how much I love this film. But we’ve been together for almost 30 years so she’s used to it.
Jimmy is a real martial artist
First time watching you and loved the layout and reaction! Can't wait to see more from you. I loved this reaction to one of my feel good movies. I can't wait to see if you'll react to the new one. Keep em coming!
Road House. - Peter Griffin 😂😂😂
This movie didn't win any awards but for some reason it has become a kind of cult classic especially after Patrick Swayze died with liver cancer. And for many people it is a movie that we just love!!!
excellent reaction, and I follow your reactions carefully. SPOILER ALERT, The remake is 5% of what this movie was, again great reaction
jake's gillenthal's casing as dalton is as bad of a miscasting as tom cruise is as jack reacher
It's not one of his most famous movies, but my favorite Swayze film is Black Dog. You should consider watching it. He is awesome in that one too.
Jonathan, great review. You got the real heart of the film there. I subbed because of you.
I already know that the new one can't top this one.... its impossible !
The new one will be so far over the top it will be sickening... they'll let loose the wrong music....
I mean how can you top Jeff Healey !
I'm guessing 6 outta 10 if their lucky but we'll see..... ?
One of the best Patrick swayze movies he is a trained martial artist trained in wushu taekwondo and aikido only made a few martial arts films.
Good movie, great reaction, love your laugh lol
Next Of Kin is another great Swayze movie also featuring Liam Neeson, Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton. Oh also Ben Stiller and Adam Baldwin.
They bouncer with the goatie is wrestling legend Terry Funk
Roadhouse is the best!
This is such a masculine film, it’s inspiring to guys and women Love the the DALTON 😊
Yeah long hair is back in style , fade , buzz cuts been around too long since the 90s with the whole hip hop music which was fun at the time .
Please don’t waste your time on the new one, wish I had my time back. It makes the original look like gone with the wind or citizen Kane.
Would like to see a reaction to the new one. But can't imagine that it's anywhere near as good.
Best movie ever!.
Great movie. Another great Patrick Swayze Rip movie you should see is Point Break and Ghost. Also Patrick Swayze Rip had a great mini series that made him famous called North and South with Kristy Ally Rip. You should see it. A great movie you should see with Kelly Lynch and Tom Cruise is Cocktail.
I think the movie you're thinking about is either the man on the pale horse with Clint Eastwood or the quick and the dead with Sharon Stone and Gene Hackman.
Nice that you liked it. It is so good ! New movies have no souls like 80 /90 ,s movies
Dude, you are the coolest person to watch reacting to a film. A+. This film is timeless, and the remake is . . . not as good. Sry :o/
I was looking through Popcorn Roulette's library of reaction videos. I need to make a suggestion . . . .
> YOU GUYS NEED TO DO "A KNIGHT'S TALE"
> YOU GUYS NEED TO DO "A KNIGHT'S TALE"
> YOU GUYS NEED TO DO "A KNIGHT'S TALE"
.
And good as you are, I select Coby as the best candidate for reactor. I won't say why, but trust me, she's the one for this.
.
> YOU NEED TO DO "A KNIGHT'S TALE"
.
Did I say YOU GUYS NEED TO DO "A KNIGHT'S TALE"?
.
Oh .. Dr. Clay . 😂
there's a sequel to this movie Road House 2: Last Call (2006)
I love your reaction on this great movie
Great reaction
Classic
For Studio openings , I like the scary BlumHouse Intro . It reminds me of a Canadian TV series that I used to watch Friday the 13th . As for other intros Cannon and Golan Globus Productions , and The Weinstein Company intro ( Steve and Harvey Weinstein .)
Sam Elliot is the sexiest man of all time.. this is my favourite Patrick Swayze movie and one of my favourite movies ever .. another Patrick movie to watch is Point Break..
No remake needed... The new one will tank.. as it should tho shouldn't have tried to remake a film like Roadhouse that would like someone remaking Tombstone the movie with a different Doc smh just doesn't work! Everyone will watch the new one that will be its saving grace the box office numbers for total people watching but how many will think it was any good we will see!
If you like this try Deliverence with Burt Renolds.
Hi Jonathan hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
Hey, this is Jonathan! I am having a great day! Thanks. Hope you are too
"ROADHOUSE" 👊
I was a bouncer and then a head bouncer(cooler) be nice if we actually got 500 a night 🤣🤣 but everything he says is accurate..
Next of kin is another good Patrick swayze movie!
I’m currently trying to get through the new remake. The 1989 movie is the more enjoyable one.
I don't get how people commenting on the new trailer saying that this movie is lame.
10:00 Morgan is played by the late great professional wrestling legend Terry Funk. If there was a legit barfight with the entire cast the smart money would be on Terry Funk to be the last one standing. RIP "The Funker" Terry Funk.
they dont even take tinkers gun.
RIP Terry Funk.
This is a second road house movie it is better good it a couple years after this one I believe then the new one that is coming soon
i hear you, bro. like... why don't beautiful lady doctors just immediately fall in love with me all the time, everywhere i go??
They're making a reboot out of this movie real soon. Starting Jake Gyllenhaal.
Can't wait
Can't wait to NOT watch it!!!
Have you seen Sam Elliott and Tom Selleck in The Shadow Riders or The Sacketts?
Sam Elliot also is the best character in the series The Ranch, absolute love his dry humor!! And Tom Selleck shines in Quigley, the Australian for a serious role and Her Alibi as a Rom Com!
Tai Chi is always shown as this peaceful, therapeutic exercise, but in reality it is a seriously, deadly wicked discipline.
@@charlesmaurer6214 Most of you yoga types never get past the basic therapeutic part of it. The master levels are a whole other matter.
Bro you look just like Michael Fassbender.
Be nice
Great reaction no offense to Jake Gyllenhaal but I don’t think you can do better than Patrick Swayze. Thanks for the fun until next time.
You can stay means I love you????? Seriously
Jake Gyllenhaal as Dalton? Yeah, I don’t think so. 🙄🙄🙄
the 2024 with Jake Gyllenhaal had so much missing, the girls, the friend "Sam Elliott : Wade Garrett", the shop owner is so endearing "Red West : Red Webster", The best bad guy EVER "Ben Gazzara : Brad Wesley", The best guitarist in the world at the time "Jeff Healey : Cody". When I realised the 2024 film was blue screen, with CGI interlaced, i realised the only work they put into the film was beefing up their muscles.
This movie should not have been remade
The best part about his movie is that is has the legend Terry Funk in it. Re-makes are SHIT!!
This is why Hollywood should NOT REMAKE this film. It's a cult classic.
The new Road House sucks compared to the Swayze version. With the new B movie looking Road House, the plot sucks, the music sucks, and the characters suck. Even the bad guys suck. I could car less about the hair...but I owned a Mercedes 560sec for a decade until I got tired of fixing it. Beast of a ride.
The new road house is gonna suck so bad. I mean have the studios completely ran out of ideas, they have remade so many films in the last 15 years . No originality and all the remakes have sucked and if it's not a remake it's a shitty sequel or the dreaded pre quel. You can't remake a classic like this
Patrick Swayze was loved by all girls for the Dirty Dancing film in 1987, the same girls watched Road House in 1989 and did not like it. This is why we should thank Patrick Swayze. He made a blokes film, just to even it out. If they remake Road House again in another 35 years time, i'm sure it will be politically correct transvestites.
New Roadhouse looks loke complete garbage
Dude, don't bother watching the new Roadhouse it's a pile of crap compared to the Original. It's not even the same storyline, and the CGI fight scenes are terrible. Don't waste your time
4:46 did that actor also do a cameo in Weird Science getting drunk with Anthony Michael Hall?
I wonder why CZcams will be taken down soon by us and why we are all on rumble I WONDER WHy with these dumb donuts like this !!!!!!!! I WONDER WHY hahahahahahah
