- Watch in awe and amusement as Jerry Holkins, Mike Krahulik, Scott Kurtz, and Morgan Webb of Acquisitions Inc. wade once more into almost certain doom, courtesy of Dungeon Master extraordinaire, Chris Perkins. When we left our heroes at PAX East 2014, they had infiltrated the ruins of Dragonspear Castle and liberated some bronze dragon eggs before coming face to face with the thieves - two green dragons. Now they face off against those foes as well as the Cult of the Dragon in the conclusion to this Tyranny of Dragons Acquisitions Inc adventure!

I love that Chris very, very clearly only walked through the steps of working out and giving Binwin cover out of spite, purely knowing it would do nothing to help. It's glorious!

I strive in my life to experience the same level of utter joy, wonder, and amazement as Jerry Holkins' at 31:27 when Chris brings the airship out for the players. As a player and writer, I've always loved creating fantastic worlds in my head and on paper, and seeing these come to life is magical. As a DM, I can also imagine how incredible Perkins felt when he incited that level of amazement and wonder in the players and audience. It's amazing to be able to explore amazing and magical worlds as a player, but it's far more rewarding to be able to give someone else that experience. Way to go, Perkins, way to go.

Anyone else agree with me in saying that this could make a great tv series i mean they air live Poker tournaments on tv I can easily seeing people watching a group of people go through a quest as we watch them take the risks of rolls or different actions and if they're as funny as the 5 of them, we could just as easily have plenty of fun mid game banter as well

... why would you want it on TV? DnD casts fit perfectly were they are now ^^ life play on a stream or at an event and afterwards uploaded on the streamingsite or youtube
imo TV would only take something away since there cant be any fan/chat/crowd interaction on TV (aka no "GREEN FLAME" and so on ^^)

Viari is actually one of my favorite characters ever.
+TCCflow He's really good at manipulating what a DM like Chris wants out of him though, too. Probably doesn't hurt he's a creative mind like an author or whatever but he gets away with all the cool shit he wants, to comic effect as well I might add. (I love Viari as well but as a player myself I really appreciate the cool shit he thinks of to do in character, but even still, Chris lets him get away with a LOT, and nobody notices that same thing more or comments on it more than Scott Kurtz, who is my absolute favorite).

JacksonDubyaC Yeah, well he's a writer. D&D has churned out lots of actors, directors and writers, and he's no exception. I think there's a reason it's so well connected to creative industries and creative people. But yeah Chris just loves seeing his players do amazing shit, which is why Viari gets away with literally just about anything he wants. It doesn't hurt he's a rogue, too, who you would expect nothing less than him swinging from chandeliers and swashbuckling etc. lol
i think he's a bard multiclassed into rogue or vice versa
You can see on his sheet it says "7th level Rogue" and "Sneak Attack 4D6" which you get as a level 7-8 Rogue, so at least at this point he is a pure rogue.
The bald Cleric guy had to pray to God to climb a fucking roap, and Viari just sort of flopped his way through the most successful turn ever

i just stumbled across this somehow i dont even play D&D but it was the most enjoyable thing ive watched as a game and the props are insane what a great imagination the creator has, well done to all of you, you are all very entertaining, keep up the good work. GREEN FLAME :D

I hope they play as this 5 man party next year. They are all great together and IMO this was one of the best, if not the best, PAX AI session.
Its actually really appropriate considering there are 5 types of Chromatics too. The '5 heads are better than one'' joke work really well to since the end boss of this campaign is Tiamat, Goddess of the Chromatics and a 5-headed Dragon.
I actually hope they play as 6 man, including the sister of Omin Dran.

The d4s with the numbers on the bottom were standard back in the day. I used to pick them up and read the bottom on the side my thumb was on. Now, they all have the number on top - where it belongs - and I've started to think I was imagining it. This video confirmed my memory. Thanks! Lol...

These have always been kind of dodgily cut, and this one's no exception (which is fine! This is the live footage!). This year is the best, though, and whoever said "Cut to camera X, zoom on Pat's face!" was a genius.
Dice cam was a great addition too. Listening to the audience react to rolls you couldn't see must have been... emotional?... to anyone sitting at that table.

I really enjoyed this, they are all such legends. And i agree with what someone else said, i'm kind of on foot in the nerdy world one foot out, and the most amazing thing about D&D is that people don't posture or pretend, they are just unabashedly themselves and I love it.
Chris Perkins is like the coolest fuckin' dude I ever met.
So, last time they decided to not do too much and just sit around and RP it because they thought they were being too over-the-top or something... And THEN... this happened. And it was amazing. I love the way Chris DMs the group and they all had me laughing the whole time. As always, I can't wait for the next adventure! I hope they do it at PAX South!!

Wow~! This one was the best one in a WHILE. 2013 game was up there with the sheer amount of awesome stuff but this one felt like an actual table top game. Sad that it took the previous session to set up such an amazing session but this one was off the chain.
Also, amazing reveal there in the middle top tier for sure. 110% amazing.
This is the first time I have commented on CZcams. I have watched all of the D&D videos for the past 6 years. I was absolutely amazed by Chris and all of the Characters. Games like this are why I love D&D!

I cannot even begin to express how happy these live games have made me. Every year I am delighted to hear about the new PAX D&D game. It's like a holiday to me. I'm sure this will get buried, but thank you so much for continuing these games.

I'm really enjoying the adventures of Acquisitions Inc. and the special guests! Each year it appears that they raise the stakes and quality even more so. Just watching these sessions and listening to the various podcasts has reignited my passion for the game.
On the subject of Wil Wheaton: he was a bit distracting at times, however he added some great role-playing moments to the games. I take offense to the clearly butthurt Trek fans who hurl personal attacks against him in the comments. Grow the hell up and be a productive member of society. The show ended twenty years ago (if you don't count the movies), yet people still hold a grudge against Mr. Wheaton for allegedly defiling their precious television program with his presence.

Definitely not, I like Viari a lot better!
I like both as characters and even more in other shows. But Pat cannot be beaten in my opinion, and the Bard/Rouge gives much more play than an elf full of hate.
Pat may be a worse board player (always looking for unexisting bonuses, or passing an acrobatics check with a one) But he does now how to tell a story, he has the ability to talk over any circumstance. Much more fun in a live show, maybe less if playing w/ him

Don't worry man, I do as well. Wheaton is lovely individual, but Rothfuss knows his shit. The man puts Viari's personal appearance above all else, constantly: "Will I look cool?" Honestly, he's the best D&D player I've ever witnessed.

Critical hit rules have changed? Starter set / PHB says toll the damage dice twice, then add modifiers, Chris is using Max damage plus an additional die roll.

It was just a house rule, no one was caught up on current rules. Basically, they were using older playtest rules for crits, which personally, I think are better.
Fifth Edition. Yes it changed. To be fair Normal damage was up-scaled a bit.

I am speaking directly about 5th editioni XDependent. If you check out the "5th" edition starter set and PHB, both state roll damage dice twice then add modifiers.

I was not, and thank the gawds Wil didn't make an appearance. Why? Because to be a successful actor, one is expected to be the main focus... This is contrary to the "party" concept. If Wil Wheaton was there, I am afraid he would feel that he had to be the star. Then I'm not sure the contributions of the rest of AI would be recognized.
Tazz EightSixFour I can sense Scott's annoyance with Will in some of the early games. Will had to stand up every five minutes and toy fight with Chris. He was only fun when there wasn't a crowd to show off too.

People read too much into it. They did those podcasts for quite a while but these PAX shows aren't really their main thing but more of a fun project. I would think Wil started on several other projects and couldn't go on with the podcasts so they started inviting other people.
I kind of like all the people. They are average, they are different, they just have a good fun time. The last bit is what actually makes it enjoyable.

Yeah, there was an extremely high pitched sound at times in the first parts of the video. Long before the balloon appeared.

Jim can cast spells even when he's out of components. In 5e a focus (like a magic wand or two) negates the need for material components.
