- Welcome to Morakniv Monday! Today, we discuss the Mora Craftline Pro Robust knife. We talk about specs, the sheath, we compare it to the Mora Classic Robust knife and put it to work with some bushcraft notch carving, feather sticks, scraping, ferro rod use and hitting the 1095 high carbon steel with a piece of chert. Check out the link below to get this shipped to your door for under $20!

A lot of people complain about the sheath not holding the knife very secure, that if you shake it upside down, the knife will fall out. Mine did the same thing. I took a blow dryer and heated up the upper part of the sheath for about a minute then pressed it down and ran it under cold water. Took about 2 minutes total. Now the knife is very secure in the sheath.
Thank you for watching! Sounds like an excellent retention technique you used, my friend! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and leave your awesome comment! -Dave
Great tip Tama Toa - thanks. Just bought one and found the same issue. I'll give it a try...:)
@Gary Dodgson it isn't really a problem for me because I don't wear the sheath on my belt. In fact I don't even carry it on my person. I EDC a variety of different folders depending on my mood.
I use my Moras more as a utility blade because they're inexpensive and take a lot of abuse. Actually the only reason I mentioned using a hair dryer was because people were talking about its looseness in the sheath. Curiosity got the better of me so I went and tried shaking the sheath lol. And sure enough it fell out.
But I'll try your tip too. Thanks 🤙🏾
I’m so glad I have the older version. Any Mora is a great knife and I have both, but the longer blade and the handle of the classic bears everything. And just got to the part where you mention the handle. Yes…so true. The new one is like “knives for beginner.”
Now is 2:28 AM. I live in a house under construction with my dog and only a wood stove and internet (and pc). You make me company with your video on Morakniv!! I ordered Morakniv Companion Heavy Duty (my second one!). I can't wait to use it on my next bushcraft overnight. Thanks and I hope you appreciate this comment. Greetings from Italy!
Roberto
I am very happy to hear that I was able to keep you company, Roberto! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your very nice comment and I appreciate the greeting from Italy! Keep me posted on how the house construction is going, my friend! -Dave
Nice knife. I never get tired of watching you do feather sticks.
+Nathan4071 Thank you, my friend! I really appreciate the kind words! Nice to hear from you and thank you again, for the awesome Christmas gift! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family! -Dave
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Nathan4071 Thank you, brother! -Dave
Another great video my friend. It's raining, but I think I might take a hike in Menden Ponds. Have a blessed day. John
+snaponjohn100 Thank you for the kind words, John! Nothing wrong with a hike in MPP in the rain! It's beautiful no matter the weather! I hope to talk with you again soon, my friend! -Dave
Great Morakniv Monday Dave. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours! John
+Survivalist2008 Thank you for taking the time to watch, John! I really appreciate the kind words, my friend! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to your family as well, John, and I hope to talk with you again soon! -Dave
I have had Mora knives around me all my life and have used (and abused) them for every possible thing, but you sure knows a lot more about these than I do. Thanks for the Morakniv Monday series :)
- Martin
+NorwegianWoods Thank you for watching the Morkniv Monday series, Martin! I really appreciate that, my friend! I know a little from the fact that I use them often and abuse them much like you do :) They are such excellent knives Nice to hear from you and I thank you for all of your support over the past year! -Dave
The first time I got my Pro Robust knife, the initial reaction I got from everyone was about how short the blade was. This might be because they're used to seeing me with my Camillus ka-bar knife. I love that knife, but I'm always looking for other useful knives to try. The handle is very comfortable to hold and I like the quillons at the top and the bottom. Most people complain about this feature on knives but this is the first thing I look for on a knife. I would hate to see my hand slip over the blade on a rainy camping day and split my fingers open. That's why I back away from bushcraft knives without any type of quillons. Another thing people complain about is how the sheath is not able to hold the knife under certain conditions. Well, unless you fall off a cliff, it's not easy to get the knife out of it and a simple modification solves this problem as well. A very useful and sharp knife in my opinion. Great video.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, my friend! I appreciate the kind words! -Dave
I don't buy knives without a finger guard of some suitable length either. I've had my hand slip over a blade before. Lesson learned.
(I have no issue wiyh anyone favoring no guards though. To each his own, eh?)
Nice Mora's I like the sheath too my friend and I really like Mora Mondays thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas to you and your family and God Bless
+Yooper Digger57 Thank you for such kind words, my friend! I really like having you here for Morakniv Mondays! Your support over the past year really means a lot to me. You are always very nice and encouraging. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, as well! -Dave
Great review on Mora knives. Thank-You for sharing.
+yveskc1 Thank you for the kind words, my friend! I appreciate you stopping by! -Dave
that is one of my very favorite knives. What I have found works best for the handle retention is some 1/8" bungee cord tied in a loop in the belt clip then pulled over the knife handle or you can use a hair bungee. super cheap and very effective. thanks for posting Dave.
+Wilderness Warriors Nice tip, my friend! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave you nice comment! -Dave
I'd like to see a picture of all your Mora's together. Another nice demonstration of a great knife in use.
+wyattoneable Thank you for the kind words, my friend! Someday I will round up all of my Moras for a picture. I hope you enjoyed your Christmas! -Dave
Another good review. I'll be picking up a few of these in the upcoming months. Keep the Morakniv Mondays coming.
+Jonathan Zook Thank you for the kind words, Jonathan! You are going to love this knife! I prefer the classic Robust, however, there is nothing wrong with this one. Do you have any specific models in mind? I really appreciate your support and wish you and your family very happy Holidays! -Dave
+HighCarbonSteel Love My favorite will always be my Classic 2 as it was my first Mora. I own a handful of Mora knives. I'll be picking up a few of the Pro Robust. My wife and mother love the guards and I like the fact that the knife looks like your hand will tuck in nicely while wearing gloves.
Jonathan Zook I love the Mora Classic 2 very much, as well! My first was the Companion MG but I always return to the Classic 2! You are exactly right, the Pro Robust does tuck in well with gloves. Let me know how everyone likes them! -Dave
+HighCarbonSteel Love I bought the Pro Robust and it is fantastic. My 8yr old liked it so much, I have it to him, especially since it's red and it's his favorite color. So I have replaced mine with the grey version. Super tool.
Jonathan Zook What a great dad! -Dave
Dave, I really love Morakniv Mondays!! A unique feature on YT! And I also have no serious complaints with the sheaths. I really liked that patina....what method did you use??? Thanks for all that you do for all of us and may I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas, my friend!!!!!!!! Stay well. ;-)
+Charles Larson I am very glad to hear that you enjoy Morakniv Mondays, Charles! That is really encouraging! I just used the old mustard technique..lol! This one takes a patina quite well. I appreciate you watching my videos, leaving your kind words and supporting my channel over the past year, my friend! It really means a lot to me! Merry Christmas to you too, brother! -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love Do have a video on that "mustard" technique?
Charles Larson Here ya go, brother...my very first Morakniv Monday ever..lol! czcams.com/video/WzWxwT6PQEE/video.html
HighCarbonSteel Love Thanks! You are indeed the master of the Mora. Thanks for the mustard info my friend. I have an old stockman three blade folder, and it really wanted to rust as I carried it in my pocket, EDC. So I cold blued it and got a really nice dark patina, and it has lasted now for about 15 years. Now here's a tip that many think is crazy....BUT....as I used to be a pipe smoker, really fine pipe wood needs to be conditioned on an ongoing basis, and a great way to do that is by..NO I'm NOT kidding....rubbing your nose with your finger and then applying the skin oil to the wood. Well, this works GREAT as well for small carbon steel blades of all sorts. And one has this protective "oil" always on hand, so to speak, in the field. LOL!!!!! It works. :-)
Very nice blade I think I might get one of them for a necker seeing its a little smaller thanks for sharing atb John
+Turtle Bushcraft Thank you for watching, my friend! This knife would make an excellent neck knife! -Dave
Mora Monday! Whoo-hoo! I prefer the classic over the pro myself. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Dave!
+Carlos de la Cruz Thank you, Carlos! Not many knives can beat the Classic Robust! I love that knife. Merry Christmas to you and your family, too, my friend! Thank you, very much, for all of your support and kind words over the past year! -Dave
Excellent review, thanks for sharing. Take care.
Greatings from the South Towns. For the original Mora Robust atleast the belt clip fits perfectly in MOLLE/PALS Webbing. I made a small slit to divide the belt clip into 2 "prongs". It makes removal from MOLLE a little easier. I've read you can heat form some plastic Mora sheaths, that will be my next attempt at a mod.
Sounds like you have a great setup! Thank you for watching! -Dave
Awesome video we enjoyed watching!
+Danish & Aniko Thank you! I enjoyed having your here to watch, my friends! Thank you for the kind words! -Dave
Very nice Mora! I don't mind the plastic sheath either!
+Jason McDaniel The plastic sheaths are very, very functional! It's betting than that webbing/nylon crap that other inexpensive knife makers send with their knives. And the Mora factory sheaths are much more open to modifications! Thank you for watching, my friend! I wish you and your family a very Happy Holiday season! -Dave
Great review. I am trying to decide what to get. I have plenty of good blades, and I love the discontinued Kershaw Antelope and Bear Hunter knives, but would like to have an actual Mora. I found a good deal on the Robust Pro, I just hope it fits my hand.
Thank you for the kind words! You would love a Mora knife! Most are very affordable. I wear a medium size glove and the Robust Pro fits my hand just fine. For a bit more of a bulky handle, the HQ Robust and Companion HD models are excellent and basically the same knife. I happen to prefer the HQ Robust, my self. I appreciate you stopping by, my friend and let me know what you decide! -Dave
Another one great review I have this one too and is a really nice metal and performer and friendly one. I like the way you present your videos you do it with respect and elegance and this is the most important of all. Merry Christmas!
+Achilles Daniel Adam Thank you for the kind words, my friend! I am glad to hear that you like your Pro Robust. I do prefer the classic Robust, however, there is nothing wrong with the pro! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your very nice comment! Merry Christmas to you too! -Dave
+HighCarbonSteel Love Actually the classic Robust seems better I agree I like the longer blade and the handle better it looks almost as the Heavy Duty Companion. The classic Robust feels better when hands are sweating or wet, this part of plastic in the middle of handle of Pro Robust is somehow slippery but its a very solid performer. For the seath I agree 100%, for what you are paying for it is a really decent sheath! By the way the 510 rocks but I hope it also had a clip for the belt!!
Achilles Daniel Adam I couldn't have said it any better myself! Excellent points, my friend! -Dave
+HighCarbonSteel Love It's a pleasure Dave! Keep the excellent work!!
Achilles Daniel Adam Thank you, my friend! -Dave
Great vídeo.
Great information!!
Very nice thanks for sharing. Have a great day Karla
+Karla Tiller-Barclay Thank you for watching and leaving your kind words, Karla! -Dave
Def a nice video! Merry Christmas sir
+Matt and Jaelon Thank you for the kind words, sir! I would really like to thank you for your kind, encouraging words and support over the past year, my friend! It means the world to me. Merry Christmas to you, as well, sir! -Dave
Great review Dave! always enjoy how you explain things in such detail..Im so behind on your videos but Im catching up now =)
+Louise Gardner Thank you, Louise! I really appreciate the kind words! Please take your time in catching up, as you've had a busy couple of weeks. It so nice to have you back and I hope to talk with you again soon, my friend! Happy New Year! -Dave
yes glad to be back connecting with my friends here on CZcams..it helps a lot too..makes me feel better =) Happy New Year!
+Louise Gardner Great to hear, Louise! -Dave
Okay I have officially put both Robust to the test, after carving for 4hrs straight...".UGH yes my thumb's are toast today" I found that the new pro is much more controllable then the old HQ. BUT IMHO they should have kept the more narrow tip of the HQ, each knife has its place and I love them both. The handle on the older version is so comfortable it's sad that Mora is not making them anymore, it feathersticks so nice what an awesome blade. I used to think there could be no big difference between all these Mora's to me they all pretty much look the same, clearly thats not the case. I cant wait to buy another one:-) and since they're so cheap it makes collecting them a blast!
+Airik1111 Sounds like you did some excellent, thorough testing with both! Great detailed observations of both! Thank you, very much for sharing this, my friend. I know, first hand, what it's like to fall in love with Morakniv, as I have many..haha! -Dave
i have the new 510...can't really warm up to the handle...but I do like it for some jobs.
+SpartanJohns I like the Classic Robust handle so much more. I am not a huge fan of any of the Mora Pro knives, which is why the Pro Robust is the only one I picked up. The handles bother me, as I don't like finger guards, nor the guard on the bottom of the handle. Just like your new 510, the Pro Robust is good for some jobs and still has that 3mm thickness. -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love I did some searching online and sadly I did have trouble finding the exact type of carbon steel the Mora Robust uses (The classic to be specific). I admit that is a very huge pet peeve of mine if I go to buy a new knife for my collection, but after seeing the tests done on it by DutchBushCraftKnives I bought it no problem. But seeing your video really does help me appreciate that knife from a spectators point of view before it ships to my house, I really do appreciate how you took your time to explain the knives, sheath, and various methods to get around some of the knifes flaws, the sheaths flaws, or the all in one flaws. That and you weren't just talking, you actually showed us using the knives in action, very well done buddy, very well done. Also, what kind of patina did you use on the blade? If you made it yourself, would you mind posting the instructions for that DIY patina?
Excellent review and awesome vid overall!
With appreciation,
Zach.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, Zach! I really appreciate that, my friend! I, too, have been unable to locate the exact type of carbon steel in Mora knives. It's been a while, but I believe that I used mustard for this particular patina. -Dave
Formidable. Bravo.Saludos desde Barcelona( Spain)
Okay brother I got the new one on accident but I like it anyways ya just can't beat 15$ for such a great blade. This being my first Mora and my first scandi grind I'm officially hooked. I've been carving with it for a week now and holy cow these things eat wood, no wonder you like them so much. All my other knives feel like broken tools now, I'm definitely going to get a convex grind on all them LOL maybe even buy a work sharp. The way they cut is a no brainer it really feels great thanks for all your reviews and making me a new Mora believer.
For anyone on the fence go buy one use it you won't be disappointed;)
+Airik1111 You just cannot beat Mora knives, my friend! Glad to hear that you are hooked! They are very addictive knifes. Scandi grind is definitely my preferred grind, for their woodworking capability. It does seem weird to use other grinds after spending so much time with a scandi. Thank you for the kind words and I am glad I could be of some assistance!
Great review brother!
Love the Mora Mondays. The Companion HD in carbon has the same specs as the Robust HQ did. So we still have the knife, just not in the grey color. It also costs four bucks more.
+Craig Swogger I am glad to hear that you enjoy Morakniv Mondays, my friend! Isn't that weird that the Companion HD and Robust are the exact same knife? Well, except for color, of course. I wish they had a couple of slight differences. And yes, I don't understand the few bucks more. I have always recommended the HQ Robust over the Companion HD because it's the same knife for a cheaper price. Thank you for watching and commenting! -Dave
It also comes in companion HD as stainless steel and in a black colour too .
New to the channel love the info my mora pro robust will arrive in the mail today . Mora has cured me my anything under 100$ isn't worth it they provide the best quality vs price in the world love the.
I have taken a small piece of duct tape running on the inside of the sheaths and it helps with retention.
Really nice review. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the kind words, my friend! I really appreciate you taking the time to stop by! -Dave
I like the Pro C robust more than the other. Nice knife. I'd buy one.
Thanks for the comparison.
Thank you for watching! The Pro C Robust is definitely a very popular knife that fits very well in the hand! -Dave
Hey my friend! I agree, it does look like a Hultafors. Take care, Irène.
+Melusine Centun (Melusine101) Hey my friend! So nice to hear from you, Irene! It's almost like a more sleek version of the Hultafors...lol! Thank you, very much, for taking the time to watch and leave your nice comment and I hope to talk with you again soon! I also wish you and your family a very happy Holiday season! Your support over the past year means the world to me! -Dave
Thank you so much, have learn alot today.
+Linda Igbo Thank you, so much, for watching, Linda! I am glad I could be of some assistance. Thank you for all of your support over these past few months and I wish you and your family a very happy Holiday season, my friend! -Dave
Cheers on your knife review
Cool knife! 😊 👍
The first Mora I bought was the Pro Robust and was nearly put off Mora's permanently. I got it from a bad online store in the UK (Sp****fields). They had promised to package the item for posting and not just throw it in a Jiffi bag as I'd had knives rip through Jiffi bags in the past. They just threw the knife in a Jiffi bag, posted it and didn't answer my emails. The knife looked like a return with nicks in the blade and quite dull. A friend told me most Mora's are like that and that is why they're so cheap so I kept it. I got most of the nicks out, sharpened up the blade and it's been a good knife ever since. I've bought from reputable places like the The Bu***raftstore since and Mora's come undamaged and super sharp. I'm glad I kept it, it's a great little backpacking knife, light, tough and a great little work horse though I won't be buying from Sh**fields again!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your comment, my friend! Thats very interesting, as I have never received a Mora that was in bad shape. They have all be of even grind and razor sharp. I am sorry to hear of your experience, but I am glad to hear that you kept and enjoy the Pro Robust. Personally, I prefer the Classic Robust HQ but the Pro isn't bad at all. -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love I've seen those thin drop points snap (in other brands) when processing animals so often go for the stubbier tipped models. A Robust Pro blade (maybe a little bit longer) on a Classic Robust handle would be an interesting knife. Cheers!
Do you recommend forcing a patina or letting one develop naturally? (Might be a stupid question but this is the first bushcraft knife I've owned and I know very little about how to care for it)
I love these knives just as much as you do but I have a question how to sharpen them where they're at factory settings that possible
+RC fabrications and body I am not sure...I am able to bring them back to shaving sharp and that is good enough for me! Thank you for watching! -Dave
Late reply for anybody just tuning in.
I use the triangle stone from my Sharpmaker and freehand sharpen all my Moras. Hold the knife steady in one hand then using the flat side of the stone, lay it against the wide scandi grind bevel and sharpen. Works well for me.
:) Still raining here :( Worst winter ever.. Sun was up for 3 min yesterday. Days are going to be longer now. Cant wait for summer.. But first now.. Merry Christmas.. :)
+Marcel Klein Sorry to hear about the weather there, my friend! It will turn before you know it...hang in there! Merry Christmas to you and your family, as well, Marcel! -Dave
Hello Dave! Loved the video! I want to ask if you could do a video on how you do your patina??? Just ordered a robust. Thanks brother!
Hello, Timothy! I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed the video, my friend! I will try to make a video on my patina but it's really not very complicated. I put some mustard on the blade, then 'pattern' it with a bunched up paper towel, let it sit for an hour or so and then rinse off the mustang. Did you get the Mora Pro Robust? That takes and excellent patina! -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love yes I got the pro robust. I will try the mustard! Thanks!
Yeeey, Another Morakniv Monday! Its a great knife there and I have nothing against the "new" handle either. Never liked the old Robust handle, as you know :) But I am probably the only one with that opinion. Ha ha.
You getting better and better in pronouncing Morakniv, my good friend! I am so proud of you!!
I wish you a Merry Christmas my brother in Bushcraft!
+Gullrica Ulrica! My sister in bushcraft! So nice to hear from you! Yes, you are the ONLY one with the that opinion about the classic Robust...hahaha...just kidding, my friend :) Do you have the new Robust? I think you would really like the new handle. Very much like a sleek Hultafors handle. Thank you for the compliment on my pronouncing of Morakniv! I have been practicing every time I do a Morakniv video, thanks to you. I have also been practicing my "Husqvarna", which you will be hearing soon. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas, too, Ulrica! -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love Ha ha. I know I am weird and one of a kind when I dont like that old handle. :) Yes, I have the new Mora robust and I am more pleased with that handle. Ha ha. I am looking forward to your upcoming Husqvarna axe video!
Gullrica Thank you, Ulrica! -Dave
when sharpening this night for the first time will I be able to get it Factory Edge
+RC fabrications and body I am not sure, my friend. When I sharpen knives, my standard is shaving sharp and that may be different than factory standards. -Dave
Great review
+Dean O Thank you for you kind, encouraging words and support over the past year, Dean O! It means the world to me, my friend! It's always great to hear from you, brother! -Dave
Buen video gracias
I like the look of that model I have the last one which I love great vid as usual Merry Xmas to you and yours looking forward to your next vid A T B Andrew
+Andrew Simpson Thank you for the kind words, Andrew! You would love this knife! Merry Christmas to you and yours, as well, my friend and I look forward to talking with you again soon! Thank you for taking the time to watch! -Dave
Hey nice review . I live in Sweden and that classic robust is so hard to find here in Sweden :(
Thank you for the kind words! I think the Mora HQ Robust is getting more difficult to find, unfortunately. I appreciate you stopping by! -Dave
Man I like that pro mora ..1095 cool .. thanks brother .
+Terry Wydick Thank you, Terry! It a nice knife. I know it's got a high carbon steel content, but in looking back, 1095 isn't specified the same way it is with all my other mora knives. However, it's got a high enough CS content to take a nice patina and strike sparks with my piece of chert! Thank you for watching, my friend! -Dave
Nice video man. Just a little question, did you made the seconds bevel yourself or was there already one and you just made it bigger?
Thank you for watching and leaving your kind words, Marcus! The knives did not not come with a secondary bevel and I have not intentionally created one, however, there may be a small one from stropping. -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love Thanks man, this is why i like small channels so much, you always get an answer on your questions :)
Marcus Phillida I always do the best I can to read and answer all of my comments! You and all of my other subscribers are very important to me and love the interaction! Thank you, Marcus! -Dave
i use a heat gun on tge sheath and squeeze it after it is hot and it will fix the retention problem
+California Bushcraft Nice technique, my friend! Thank you for watching! -Dave
really good review
+SunsetBay Bonnie Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your nice comment, my friend! I really appreciate that! What do you make of this western NY weather, huh? I like it a lot! -Dave
love the mora
+phyllis milky Thank you, phyllis! I appreciate the kind words and support, my friend! -Dave
To fix the sheat retention issues, the best solution is carefully applying heat, for example with an electric heater. The case will be tender, then flatten until the retention is the correct. It worked for me 100%
+Axland Gamer I've seen that technique and it seems to work well! Thank you for watching and leaving your awesome comment, my friend! -Dave
+HighCarbonSteel Love Thank you for sharing your experience.
Axland Gamer Thank you for sharing your experience, too, my friend! Great talking with you! -Dave
I heard from someone that lives in Sweden that their common work pants have a button on the leg and the Moras all attach to them. Its like Swedish carpenter pants;)
+Airik1111 I have heard very similar stories about the work pants worn in Sweden being compatible with the Morakniv button and clips. Someday, way in the future, I hope to visit Sweden and I will be sure to check them out and maybe get a pair or 2 for the woods...haha! Thank you for watching and leaving your awesome comment, my friend! -Dave
Army pants do also
That is such a functional little knife, I love it. Did you use mustard for the patina?
+John “survivor johnny” Tewelow MERRY CHRISTMAS BROTHER
+John “survivor johnny” Tewelow Yes, mustard patina, my friend! Great call! Nothing like the simple way of doing things! Nice to hear from you, brother! -Dave
+John “survivor johnny” Tewelow Merry Christmas to you and your family, too, my friend! Your kind words and support over the past year means the world to me! Thank you, brother! -Dave
+HighCarbonSteel Love you do know that I credit you highly with me starting my own channel. I started it and had a few videos up but I think you came over from the old channel and your direct support was inspirational for me
John Tewelow Yes, sir! I was very happy to see that you had your own channel after watching you on the other channel. I am glad I could help, as your videos and knowledge are just outstanding, my friend! -Dave
Will the Mora Robust Pro lock into the Mora Conpanion?
I don't think so but I will have to check and let you know. Thank you for watching! -Dave
I find the Companion's handle much more ergonomic. I find the Craftline handles to be somewhat uncomfortable. Just doesn't seem to fit my hand.
I guess what I'm trying to say is Factory Edge versus a sharpened after Factory is not the same
+RC fabrications and body It's not always the same, however, I can still get my knives shaving sharp. I appreciate you stopping by! -Dave
It won't be long before the only tree you'll be hanging around is the Christmas tree and the only thing you'll e cutting is the Christmas cake ..... "Some mora Mora cut Christmas cake everyone?" ... Have an awesome Christmas bro.
+Herfortz LOL! Actually I am awaiting the cold & snow, as I love to go into the woods in that type of weather. You have an awesome Christmas, too, my friend! It's great to hear from you and I appreciate all of your support! Although I will be cutting Christmas cake with a Mora :) -Dave
very nice :)
+TacoBay07 Thank you for taking the time to watch, leave your nice comment and sub, my friend! It's very nice to hear from you! -Dave
Do you know where I can still get the classic?! I can't find it anywhere.
Ben's Backwoods usually has them but the are currently out of stock. Keep an eye out for him to get more - www.bensbackwoods.com/mora-robust-carbon-knife/. I would also keep checking eBay, as I see them on there sometimes. Also, for a bit more money, I see that Benjamin at the baryonyx knife company has them in stock - www.baryonyxknife.com/momocrro.html, however, I believe that Benjamin put a flat grind on his. I hope you can pick one up and thank you for watching, my friend! -Dave
Thanks for the response Dave. I'm in the market for a Scandi grind. I had a Mora a decade ago but lost it and decided to do a bit of research on whats been new with them. Great review and video. Thanks for doing that leg work. What's your opinion on flat grinds? I've never owned one.
BTW, my friend, the Mora Companion HD is essentially the same knife as the hard to find Mora Robust HQ. Just different colors and the Compaion HD is readily available that about the same great price. I have a few full flat grind knives and enjoy them pretty well. Most notably, the old Hickory Butcher knife and Condor Kephart. -Dave
Say Heah Dave, I learned that if you boil your apple vinegar you could actually see the bubbles come off the blade when your putting the patina on it, Don't boil the knife in the vinegar, but boil the vinegar to boil, then put the blade in the hot vinegar. It seems to work better. I also ordered the Mira Kansbol, and the Eldris as a neck knife. The green matches my Fox Bushcraft Parang quite nicely. But so does my Mora 2000. But I also have my Cold Steel 3V Master Hunter. Oh, on the side if my Bushcraft Parang, on both sides of the Sheath it has elastic loops, so I put my 6" Ferro Rid I got from Eugene, and it fits perfectly, on the other side, I put the Glow Stick the knife came with, How Kewl is that. But yeah, Now at least I had a reason to buy the Mora Kansbol and the Eldris.,,.
Sounds great! -Dave
That’s what I did to my Mora Pro-C. The hot cider vinegar put an awesome black patina on the carbon steel blade. It took a couple soakings of about 10 minutes each with rinsing and washing the blade between soaks.
Here’s a link if it works properly.

The HQ is discontinued ?!
Thank you for watching! I am not sure if it's been discontinued but I do know that it has become harder to obtain. Ben's Backwoods usually keeps them in stock - www.bensbackwoods.com/mora-robust-carbon-knife/ - and I have also found them on eBay. -Dave
I do have 2 of the (classic) Mora Craftline Robust and both have a finished 90 degree spine on them. The thinner Craftline series do not however. I do agree with this new 'Craftline' series did they look at the Hultafors knives both blade and handle shape. Good observation. Nice review.
Wow, a knife like tat can be so good and useful!
great:)
+Jenny Sun Thank you for the the kind words, Jenny! I really appreciate that and it's so nice to hear from you! -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love my pleasure:)
Thanks for the tip that the new sheath would let the older round button sheath clip to it but not vis-a-versa. Dont know why they didn't just stick with a round button. I have both the pro robust and the high Q, prefer the high Q handle slightly. The only time I would piggy back is around camp with the small stainless mora for food process or gathering muscles off the rocks at the beach for bait. Stainless deals with the salt environment better. I have had some luck tightening up the sheath retention by heating with a hair dryer then press in were the two internal tension ridges are and holding until cool, or just run some cold water over it. You have to look inside the sheath and you will see to thin strips about 3/4" long aligned with the top and bottom of the knife, these just need to be adjusted closer. Seems to stay after adjustment for quit a while. Keep up the good work.
+Dan Kress Thank you for watching and leaving your awesome comment, my friend! I prefer the Mora HQ robust for many reasons, as well! I am actually not a huge fan of the Mora pro Robust. I have never "piggy-backed" my Mora knives but some people do, especially those Swedish carpenters. Your modifications sound excellent! I appreciate the kind, encouraging words! -Dave
I have come to learn that the carbon steel that Mora uses allot, while comparable to 1095, is actually a steel called C10. In case anyone is as big of a nerd about that stuff as I am. hahaha
Haha..thank you for watching and leaving your awesome comment! Yes, after years of thinking that Mora's were 1095, I learned that it's not 1095, but very similar steel. Acts very much the same. -Dave
Why the new seems worse than the old one??
Hair dryer will tighten the sheith !
WOW! Niiiiiiiiicccccceeee.

El peluca de toni hizo mierda el cuchillo
Y este esquimal cree que el cuchillo le quedo muy bonito? Mas encima se corto el pelo con el cuchillito.
I am sorry, my friend, but I don't not understand your comment, however, I thank you for watching! -Dave
Man it's NOT 1095. Unnecessary patina... In europe it's uncomun to use 1095... usually is more H55 or N690 with is comparable to 1095 but it's a stainless steel.
+JONHWAR That is interesting. I went back and researched the steel and did not see 1095 specified. I find that strange because all other carbon steel Moras I own are 1095, as well as the Hultafors Heavy Duty knife. I also have friends in Sweden and Denmark that strictly use 1095. I personally don't think the patina is unnecessary, as you can see that the blade will rust from the way the knife took the patina. I am just glad to know that the pro robust has enough of a high carbon steel content to strike a spark from a piece of chert. Thank you for watching! -Dave
+JONHWAR However, I did find a listing on the excellent Baryonyx Knife Company's website that list the Mora Pro as 1095 HCS - www.baryonyxknife.com/moraprorobust.html -Dave
Sorry to say man but baryonyxknife is wrong and it´s foolling it´s costumers because apparently 1095 sells better at least in usa anyway. Truth be told sandvik carbon stell and stailess steel recipe to me seems more durable than 1095. I´m not trying to get in a discution about who is wright and who is wrong . But when you have thousants of subscribers dosen´t seem correct to give information that is not accurate.
JONHWAR That is true, my friend, as I do not want to give information that is not accurate. Due to the conflicting information, I am in contact with Morakniv for true confirmation, as I do not want to provide mis-information. Thank you for bringing this up! -Dave
Of course... I did the same an send a message to morakniv company ... awaiting reply :)
