Lawlessness is still living within the upper class and rarely held to account for every criminal act known to man
I judge audiobooks by two standards:
a. the quality of the text;
b. the quality of the narration.
You pass with flying colours on both counts - I love your stories!
I second that emotion!
Scottish cannibals, I wasn't quite prepared for that first thing in the morning. Thanks once again!
Better not mention Sawney Bean then 😉 and my pleasure 😊.
A truly horrific history. It is hard to believe the family got away with no charges and the boy inherited. You deserve thousands of more subscribers!
Honestly, you're too kind. Thank you for making my Monday 😊
A cracking tale! Always a good way to end the night.
Thanks, Kellie 😊
Wow that was an awesomely gruesome tale ....that poor kitchen boy ...Thank you for your eerie tales 😊
Thank YOU for watching and your constant support! 😊
Its amazing how many of these crazy relatives get locked away all by themselves.I wonder how the kid died..he wouldve been 18.I couldnt imagine how disturbing it would be,living with an insane child locked up in yr own house.Worlds 1st purpose built parliment eh ,did not know that.Thanx eerie🙂
My pleasure 😊 He died in a place called Londesburgh, East Yorkshire i think. Couldnt find a cause though.
Please stop calling him "crazy" and "insane." It was barbaric to lock him away. I imagine it made things much worse, and I don't believe a child who had been locked up would have a clue how to cook anything. Gruesome as the story is, I don't believe it happened.
Another great story well told, just the thing for a wet, dreich Saturday morning in August !!
Thank you 😊
Dreich ! Moved to the South East of England back in 1979 . Seeking work . I am still trying to explain that word to my lovely colleagues 😂 At first English and now overseas . Dreich ! Perfect word for that kind of weather .

I love the ominous background music ! This is a great channel 👏 🎉
😯👏👏👏, chilling stuff😎👍❗️hadn’t heard this one, Sawney Bean gets all the limelight ☠️🔪🩸
That he does! Its my favourite building in the city. Very creepy looking.
@@eerieedinburgh I remember my dad asking me if I fancied a day off school (I was 15 or 16 at the time). So, dad’s idea of a day off school was me lugging bags of plaster up to where he was working, repairing ceilings & cornice work in the old parliament building. To be fair, the reason why he couldn’t do it was he was starting his inevitable slide with asbestos related Mesothelioma. Can’t say that we went downstairs & can’t recall anything too creepy there in the upper part of the building.
Truly creepy.
judging by what has been officially said throughout this whole, particular story: the second duke’s son James, was definitely a very low-functioning psychopath.
There seem to be several Scottish great houses with this sort of story attached to them. So was this a common way of dealing with insane children of the gentry? I know the song, 'the foeman's steel we did disdain, secure in valour's station, but by English gold.....' but didn't know it was composed by Robbie Burns. Thanks for widening my knowledge.
I mentioned in another comment how, until a few years ago, i thought this was just a legend, but yeah its true and people were dealt with that way, which beggars belief.
@@osakarose5612The disappointment room. It's what the film was based on.
Those with a standing in society could not be seen to have any weaknesses and so any family member(not only children) who developed or were born with any mental disorder or indeed physical deformities, were locked away (out of sight, out of mind). Having someone who was seen as broken in the family would bring shame to the family.
In many instances the poor folk would simply kill such family members at as early an age as possible, for the same reason. It was bad enough to be poor, never mind to se seen to have a mentally ill or deformed child under your roof. The Rich were in a fortunate position, in that they could still afford to feed such a person, the poor had little to no choice.
If you know you have a psychopath in the family, there is nothing wrong with just killing lt.
Good morning Sir! What a story to wake up too with coffee! Lol pass the salt plz. Have a great day my friend, thank you for sharing!
Haha! Love it, Tammy 😆 hello to you, too 😊
One more tale of horror in old Edinburgh, but why the law of the day saw the need not to do anything because of who his father was beggars belief, the son murdered , cooked and ate a kitchen worker because the family and thereof knew he was mad. Had the boot been on the other foot .... Need I say more. ?
Money and power talks, sadly.

My sentiments exactly.
Come away south a couple of hundred miles, and you'll find quite a few examples of similar doings here in England. Remember the border Douglases, the reivers who were caught, hung and then tried in court and convicted, and yes, in that order?
I don't know how you do what you do but keep doing it! 😂❤
Thank you, too kind 😊 plenty more stories to come.
Brilliant, brutal, like the best history tour ever.. Wonder if I could sneak a wee dram in there... Being a chef and that😮😮!!!
I'm coming too if you do!
My mum worked in Queensburry hospital and the ghost stories and the one about the wee black boy hes not black coz he got burned alive by lord hattons son was not all there he was the servant and forgot to lock the door and got oot and done what happend
Did she experience anything?
Yes she did meny times one time she could smell smoke in the toliet and she never smelled any smoke when she first went in and it was like someone was always watching her one day she told me she time one of the old pasion to the toliet and the woman keeped saying to my maw can you tell that little boy to go away he keeps watching me. And some times a would pop in after skool over from queensberry house and the old men's hospital think it was called Pam more skool and a spoke to an old woman and she said see would see solders walking through the walls and you could hear the solders horse's from the stables at the front of the house. Soon as you went in to queensberry house you could always feel how cold and era it and will still be that way?
Turned into a bar for politicians, well doesn't that figure, I'll wager they're all in full knowledge of the story, and get some perverse pleasure from drinking there, given their total disregard for the general public and right and wrong in general.
On a lighter note, Excellent channel by the way !
Best Halloween I’ve had in years!! Thank you!! ❤❤❤❤. ✌🏼💜
Why did we spend all those over-budget millions on the new monstrosity when we should have continued to use that beautiful old building?
I do love the building. Would kill for a look around.
Because we're Scotland. Building that thing was the first and major clue that we should never be self governing. Our 'leaders' can't be trusted with money (as has been proven down the years since).
@@scottw.3258 Ah,the Scottish Cringe alive and well!! We're too wee.,we're too stupid,we cannae look after ourselves.Let's leave it all to our lords and masters at Westminster-they'll look after us and do all our thinking for us!!God almighty!!!!!
Turn your mic level up so that I can hear the dulcet tones of your soothing voice 💖
😊 will do 😄
Oh my
I really thought young James was going to exact his revenge on the unsuspecting family.
Oh my god, gruesome. 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️
Holy.... so, totally wasn't expecting *cannibals*....
😆 its a hell of a story.
Just watched this brilliant ghost stories , keep them coming, great
Thank you, Sue. Just writing up the next video 😊
Thanks
Wow! You have no idea how grateful i am, Kellie. Thank you so much 🫂
@@eerieedinburgh ...are there any haunted places/tales associated to the reaver clans? I am mostly of Irish decent, but my x 4 great grandfather was a Glass from somewhere on the borders. Transported to Australia for stealing a cow, (he only had 1 arm as well) Would love to know more about the border clans.....but no obligation to you, perhaps you could tell me of some names or places with stories attached? No worries if not.....
Great story
Thank you 😊
Good one! Well, not for the kitchen boy… 😢
Ha! Yes, bit of a bad day at the office 😬
I knew the kitchen hand was done for but I wasn't quite expecting that. I was expecting them to find James Jr. to be hiding, waiting to attack them when they returned home. Does it say how old the kitchen hand was? 🦇
Yep, he was 2 years older at 12. Must have either had some strength on him or take him by surprise. 2 years at that age is quite a difference.
Cooked and eaten. 😱😫
Yep. Until a few years ago I always thought of it more as a legend, given how unpopular the Duke would have been, but its by all accounts true! 🤯
Thank you very much shame we ha-dent and still haven't got rid of the lot of them I believe he is buried in St Michael's Church yard in Dumfries
A creepy cannibal child, the son of a duke yet! Now I have seen everything! LOL
The child night have been autistic to begin with. It's a tragedy
These AI images are horrible.
I feel sorry for James: you treat someone like a monster that's what they turn into.
