- You never know when you'll need a good punch (awl) while in the forest! Here is an easy way to create your own with just a few items that you probably have in your backpack. Let me know in the comments what you'd use this for! It's great for making holes in things (leather).
Bank Line I use: amzn.to/3UF551Z
Knife I use: amzn.to/3UX5NJt
#survival #Camping #Outdoors #Bushcraft #awl - Zábava
Put glove on log, cut stick, place nail on glove, wack with stick… hole made
Or just use the tip of the knife used to make these "tools" to begin with.
try stitching leather with that method
What should be It for ?
For real 😂
@@Erica-cd6sx Downside to that is, depending on what you're trying to punch through, you risk breaking off the knife's tip.
Now if I am ever lost in the woods I know to look for some nails
Or you could keep a multi tool with a little hole punch, these videos aren't always about finding things in the wild, sometimes it's about making stuff while you're out camping.
They call it something else in prison.
👍🏻👍🏻
👍👍
Jah okay mon. Calm dem man t1ts 😂
Toothbrush more deadly . more surface.
@@shmokeotyeop6252considering it's made of plastic that's not that dense it's really hard to get a sharp point and therefore good penetration with a toothbrush. I've seen quite a few botched robberies with toothbrushes. Is nothing like a piece of sharpened steel for penetration. It's just with something like a nail you got a aim for the neck!
For slightly less labor you could just use the nail and hit it with a stick. No modifications needed.
I was about to say the same thing.
If you need 2 different sized punches like that, it seems in my brain it would make sense to make 2 different ones. That way, you can leave one end of the stick open for a force assistance tool (rock).
The Definition of Overthinking
Fr😂 you could just hit the freaking nail as a punch
That punch can also be used for flint knapping, used to use one just like it to knapp with, wasnt the best tool out there for the job but was more than good enough for a newbie to make arrowheads
"Have you ever needed a good old fashioned punch?"
No
Never
@@joaquinsanabria2734 try leather working then
I have too much free time to make this "jokes"
@@xxizcrilexlxx1505mmmm ¿You mean lether working on classic cars?
@@joaquinsanabria2734 i meant more in a sewing sense as you need a awl or hole punch and needle to sew the leather pieces, but i guess It does require an awl to make a leather seat
So i guess It counts
@@scientistmilorad9735 You mean in art in restoration enviroment in the MoMa Museum in the African Colection o even better in the retoratión of Ancient Post Neolithic objects?
Drive the nail into the end of the stick and file the end down. Boom much easier.
Thank you brother for teaching us so many things 👍🇺🇲
🤝🏼🤝🏼🤝🏼🇺🇸
I really like that knife
PKS Scorpion XL.
If you use what's commonly referred to as drywall screws you have a hardened metal tip instead of a soft nail.
Bro I saw a video yesterday of someone cleaning off “their favorite tool” of all the sculpting resin it had accumulated over a year, I was like “I’ve never seen a tool like that, looks like a dowel with two nails sticking out of it”
And then today I get a video about how to make the fuckin thing from scratch, idk if these two tools have the exact same uses but they look heckin similar lol
The internet is wild, like, I didn’t even express that I didn’t know what the tool was and the internet found a way to teach me anyways, we live in surreal times
But for what purpose was used this tool?
Maybe your phone is paying more attention to you than you think...
@@setareverseworld8587 i thought chisel cuz “sculpting” but it’s double sided. i want answers too
You need to complete the cycle and build it. Only then can you know its purpose.
Maybe you should do at least something about Google spyware on your devices
Beautiful sample hatch video art work. Thank you.

Amazing quality video as usual!

@@justinuriahphotoit won't take long for your channel to blow up
Please continue with these videos. I'm learning so much from every one! Thank you! These are great information.
Love this channel
Thanks Zachary!! 🤝🏼🤝🏼
Excellent production thank you
Much appreciated!🤝🏼
Many thanks I needed to make tools for flint knapping and you just showed me how.
🤝🏼🤝🏼🤝🏼
Awl, that is... Black gold... Texas tea... Way to go brother, as usual another great video.
That's a good idea, for home/shop use, thanks. But seems it would be better to work with having only one spike.
Again, good leather punch, etc
You're a smart man
19:15 I really like this take on things that are called nihilistic. It reminds me of something I’ve often said about science fiction: people think of shows like Black Mirror dark, bleak, or nihilistic because they show technology running amok and being used to dehumanizing us.
But they show futures worse than ours. In reality, the darkest science fiction is just about any episode of Star Trek: TNG, because they show a future where mankind has solved most of the problems we face and where people strive to treat one another with dignity and respect - but this is now a future which seems more and more impossible each day.
When they take our knives..ice picks will be our new weapons.
Having a nail on both ends just looks like you made a palm punch 😂 good idea though.
Instructions unclear.
Glove was on hand.
At hospital.
Is that sailmakers or American whipping technique. I'm 52yr old Disabled British Army Veteran. I served on Army Landing Craft as a Seaman then Bosun. So learnt three types of whipping and board of trade splices and knots. So handy.
I am a lieutenant in the French navy .
Before I was a fisherman , Oula I know all the knots , Yes it is extremely important it is used for everything and even in daily life .
“Straight piece of hard wood” 😂😂 that thing is crooked as $hit. 😂😂
Ergonomics
And still works! Wasn't it awesome?
he cleaned it up
😂
You’re not very bright, huh? How are you able to breathe on your own?
Fun little thing: put a wedge under the rope to just double check on those nails not slipping
That axe puck sharpener is nice and inexpensive as well.
👍🏻👍🏻
@justinuriahphoto I know there's people here giving you crap about this, but people don't know how practical a pick or punch can come inhandy when you don't have one when you need one, and the principles you used to make this tool could be used to make similar handled tools or to replace a handle on a tool in an emergency. A broken handle on a camping hatchet, a camp cast iron skillet handle. We actually did this with those old 10" barn galvanized nails to make heavy duty tent pegs that were easy to hammer into hard ground but easy to pull with the wood handle. They made good duck blind hold downs in wooded areas on the water, tarp hold downs, we made replacement handles for old rope handles on coolers, the rip cord pulls on outboard motors, even ice pick replacement handles. My father was an engineer who started out as an architect drawing plans for tow boats, hotels, houses, etc, but he was raised on a very rural farm and taught me to be frugal and not just throw something away because of something as minor as a broken handle. We spent a hell of a lot of time hunting and fishing as well. A lot of people would call it cheap, but he just didn't want to be wasteful. Very native American. Used a lot of cane and old dried out corn cobs as well for that matter. We could have money, but we lived more like Swiss Family Robinson away from the house, which we did a lot of.
Make two and keep one end blunt so you can wack it... might ease the process of stiching leather
That is the most useful video I have seen in quite awhile. I loved it and will try this. Thank you for sharing this video with us.❤❤❤
You're the best! Man!
That's a nice ice pick, to.
Great idea! Thanks!
I'm going to make one for myself! Thanks to you!
An awl is a very common feature on the very common Swiss Army knife. Get one.
Thank you kind uncle i always loved nature but didn't knew trick and you show them with such a good quality May you be happy throughout your life
I like your channel. You do different things.
👍🏻👍🏻
Nice shank
You can punch a hole and poke your eye out at the same time, genius!
They called that a shank in jail
Where did you get that knife it’s pretty cool
amzn.to/3yxNgL5
Awesome!
Thanks!
He made that way more work than it needed to be.
If you already have a nail just use wood to hammer the nail into whatever needs punching.
😊nice. Take care😊
Thank you 😊
👍👍
Great idea but I would suggest to never use your sharpening stone dry😮
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
What does the hole punch help with in the woods? I thought they were just for leather working
Good for quickly dispatch a fish for one.
Handy for crafting thins out of bark.
My Grandpa taught me to wrap with wet leather straps or sinew, which shrinks when dry.
The plunger
My leatherman has one of those. They sell em at bass pro
ive made these by removing the head from the nail and putting the nail backwards into a hole i made by driving the nail into the stick, saves a lot of work
I'd just set the nail down and whack it with the stick but this works too!
For what purpose this thing is?
Maybe punching holes in leather to stitch pieces together
To poke holes in what needs a hole.
I mean, you could just hold the nail and hit it with a stick but where's the fun in that? When you're in a survival situation you've got plenty of time spare to make gadgets like this.
I think it's for poking holes in humans
Other useful things in the woods - how to smear resin in your hair.
Bada$$!! 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Nail.
Done.
Okay I've seen that before but you decided to put a nail in both hands which I understand the logic behind that but I think that there's a safety issue because if somebody move the stick towards their face they could stick themselves with a nail. I think it would be safer to make two individual tools
That nails gunna bend on strike number 1
Next up, how to magnetize a pin, needle or paperclip to make a magnetic compass in the field when overcast skies make it difficult to use a stick n shadow method
At this point, you might as well have a hole puncher with you as well.
You can melt also from pinewood resin for stick
I love your videos ❤❤😊😊
Thank you Judith 🤝🏼🤝🏼
Your so welcome ❤❤😊😊
Nice hint.
Ok, but i need a hole in my belt (tmi yes i lost 30 lbs in one tmi season). So i need a hole big enuf for the thingy... Otherwise, thanks - informative.

Sweet shiv
It seems like there is a lot of tension between 'you shouldnt care what other people say' in the 9/10 people in a room example and the broader metacognition point. Metacognitively, if 9/10 of the people on question end up with the same answer and its different from yours, you should probably assume you are mistaken somehow.
When hitting a nail with a rock to make a hole in something is not complicated enough and doesn't involve several tools, it's just doesn't feel the same, you know?
Is that a gomboy saw
I wouldn't cut anything out it's wood it will absolutely conform, great idea tho definitely something to keep in mind
Some tar or glue inside might enhance it
I think a score requires a lateral movement displacing material, this is more of a punch or press
CZcams just decided that i don't already know enough useless shit so they sent me 3 of this guy's videos.
Same, but at least I learned how to make a weapon and how to tie a bite, which is actually really useful for me
You already have a nail, no further steps needed.
Just hit the nail trough a piece of wood, take another piece of wood or a small stone and put it in your palm on the nails head so it doesnt slide and theres your hole punch with 10% of the effort
Dumb question maybe. That's a good bit of friction. How much force do you think that can handle? You can punch through most things with that, but as my momma would say "Did y'all make that Michael proof?" Trick question, there's no such thing.
Q from Impractical Jokers!
Also prison shank
Okay... Get the wood. Hammer the nails into the ends. Cut off the nail heads. Sharpen the nails. And just like that... You have a two sided awl. Simpler version, less work.
Wood might split
@@epistemologyphilosophy7791, wood is already split in OP’s version, so no lose. Harder part is cutting off the nail heads. Could maybe file them, but now you’re investing about the same amount of time.
The nails already have a factory point. Why go to the trouble of re-grinding all that metal in the first place? This also seems like a much more secure attachment given the flared head of the nail being anchored pretty well.
“Remember, you can’t put back what you take away” Glue?
You carry glue with you when camping?
What fixed blade do you have here?
🖤
Point on both ends seems weird and dangerous.
No but I've DEFINITELY needed your number 😍

Can it be use for flint knapping
Probably could
Works for ice

I feel yea man, it’s also real dumb how people will call you racist for having an issue with blackwashing for being . It’s funny cuz like they don’t have an excuse when you ask them to just make original characters. They deflect the conversation
What do you use it for?
What's it used for?
When would you ever spontaneously need an awl in the woods?
Or just have a victorinox with one included😮
A little slower on the knot wrapping pull through
Why the hell would you do both ends? Then you can strike it, or, Punch it... 😂😢
Not sure how this actually helps... If I have a nail, a knife, and a saw on me, I also have a hammer on me.
thanks for your great channel.
Thanks, you too!
