    Agree with all your musings on this one, esp cars that think they have the edge😂😂 that self satisfying grin never diminishes. I be a 2014 1400 and love every mile I put on it, 30k and counting so far. Used all year round for a bit of commuting and pleasure. Look forward to the next episode

    Cool 14R. I bet it's a lot of fun on the open freeways. Yes, a high-end sports car might have a chance, but agreed that not much else other than other bikes could out speed your bike. I read the ZX14 hits 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds. Are the grips comfortable and easy on the back, or lean you further forward, affecting longer ride comfort? Agreed, riding is awesome. Riding motorcycles over 20 years now.

    • @GoblinRides
      @GoblinRides  Před rokem +2

      Yeah 2.6 seconds on spec. I get around 3.1 seconds 0-60 on it for my lack of skill. You are leaning forwards in a semi sport position, but the foot pegs aren't too high, so pretty comfortable. Many riders use these for touring mile munchers 👍

    I just noticed you have a hole in your windshield, it looks too perfect. Is it intentional or a rock caused it. Also it's hilarious when a car wants to race a ZX14R, after I go into 2nd gear I disappear. I have Moore Mafia flash on my 2022 ZX14r. I ended up getting the Brocks dual slip-on's and bike feels a little bit faster than when I had the Delkevic dual slip-on's.

    I just purchased a 2023 Kawasaki Ninja 1000sx last week. I'm still breaking it in with 300 miles on it. I've been out of riding for 15 yrs after getting off of a 2005 Honda VFR 800 that I rode for 3 yrs before selling it. I'm curious how you broke in your Ninja 1400. I'm doing a moderate to hard break in and that is what seems most agree with new modern bikes. No redline but putting a hard load on the engine at low rpm up to around 6-8k and lots of variable rpm, up and down shift.

    • @233kosta
      @233kosta Před rokem +2

      On day 1 you go as light as you can. A hundred miles in start putting some load on. Few hundred miles in (300-500) she should be good for at least half throttle. After the first oil change you can start revving higher, but I personally would not redline until 2-3k miles in.
      By all means increase the load progressively as the miles roll.
      Also keep in mind engine warm up. I wouldn't ever idle it intentionally for more than 10 seconds, just ride easy until it's up to temperature, then open up the valve.

    • @BlackArroToons
      @BlackArroToons Před rokem

      @phillipkennedy4706 Congratulations on your new 1000sx. I currently have a Ninja 650 '21, but on my 250Rs, both from brand new, I tried both break-in methods. A soft break in on my 2003 as instructed, and a hard break in from day 2 on my 2008 250R, varying the RPMs and just riding it as I mostly would. Both bikes before trading in, reached over 35,000 miles each and still going strong without issues. I read modern engines aren't as vulnerable to issues like older bikes were from the old days pre-1980s. But everyone will have to choose their own method.

    • @GoblinRides
      @GoblinRides  Před rokem +2

      Nice choice on the 1000SX, they're awesome bikes, and comfortable!
      This will probably split opinions, however I'm not convinced on how important "breaking in" a new motorcycle is. I bought my ZH2 from new, and I pretty much rode it like I would any motorcycle. If anything breaks within the warranty period, it was an issue with the bike, not because you didn't break it in properly. I understand the whole "letting the engine components bed in" and "heating/cooling cycles", but you've got to really abuse the bike for it to break in the first 1k miles, but if you abuse any age motorcycle, something will more than likely break.
      My advice, don't worry about breaking in too much. Just ride the bike sensibly, wear in the tyres a little bit, enjoy it, and use the time to get used to it. Don't be afraid to put stress on it within the first 1000 miles, it will be fine.

    • @233kosta
      @233kosta Před rokem

      @@GoblinRides The break-in is mostly a long term thing. Messing it up probably won't do much the firat 30-50k miles, but then it can start losing compression and burning oil... not nice.
      Agree, not as important as it used to be, but it's still a thing and it needs doing.
      Your ZH2, by the way... Have a look at the bolts that hold the intake to the supercharger. The last bit that serves as the base, actually. There are four or five bolts holding it to the supercharger. It seems Kawasaki neglected to loctite three of them (seems to be a clerical error in the assembly manual). There has been more than one case now of one of those bolts coming loose and resulting in a mangled supercharger. I'd inspect yours sooner rather than later. Even if they're not loose, a bit of blue loctite is all they need.

      There’s a test on here on CZcams somewhere with a Tesla Plaid taking on the world. It’s a bit more than a Hayabusa can handle in the 1/4 mile but a ZZR14 will march on past the Plaid at mid and 3/4 track every single time. The bikes lose big out of the hole though. czcams.com/video/nd-2AS2WjCY/video.htmlsi=E6es7MtK2QmqQ27l

    You should join us for a Euro-tour and see just what your ZZR is good for.
    Power makes you go fast, torque gets you there quickly. Te best things about bikes, especially high power and high torque bikes like your ZZR are the intermediate acceleration times. The likes of the 40-80 or 50-120 times are the where such bikes excel, which makes overtakes almost instant. If you can think it, the bike can do it.

    Pillion? What is that? I assume it means riding “two up”? [from context]. Dude, my wife would kill herself if she was riding her own bike! She used to ride with me when we were dating… now that she’s married to me I can’t get her to ride with me for nothing… [she’s scared]. But the way she drives a a car…. She would be dead if she was riding a bike. Simply, she doesn’t “look ahead” for peoples’ “driving temperament” instead she always seems to wait and react to what’s “happening at the moment”! She’s constantly surprised what “that guy in front of her” did, when it was completely obvious what he was going to do, from my perspective!
