Clip from Season 5, Episode 10: "THE SURPLUS" - Oscar (Oscar Nunez) informs Michael (Steve Carell) that the office must spend a $4300 surplus or lose it in next year's budget. When Michael opens up the floor for suggestions, factions break out and officemates square off against one another in order to get what they want. Meanwhile, Dwight (Rainn Wilson) takes Angela (Angela Kinsey) and Andy (Ed Helms) to Schrute Farms to work on their wedding plans.

The way Micheal’s story starts to shift from third person when he says “his stepdad Jeff” and then just goes to first person is comedy gold.
If you were a true office fan you would have known that is exactly what was gonna happen. :D

You can tell by the “gahhhh” when michael struggles to get it up that it is an entirely different shot. Still, fantastic how they took out great moments, condensed it and came up with a great scene, anyway.
He started off “this could be anyone” and didn’t even realise he went to “this is all about me”. Perfectly describes Michael Scott.
All he had to do was mention Jeff for me to know 😭😹😹

I've seen this whole series at least 10 times..... every episode over and over and over again and some how I never noticed the chair 💺 thing either
Especially because, at first, you don't notice anything out of the ordinary or assume that he's just settling into the seat. Then the camera cuts away and back, and you realize that something is definitely wrong with the chair.

Being an editor for this show must have been painful. Every deleted scene I’ve ever seen was just as funny as what made it into the episodes.
Ehh The story about the dolls was pretty dull. Everything is fine because you get to only keep the best parts
The show is so much better with them keeping with the hilarious parts. It keeps the pacing going and makes the show funnier overall. The parts that I actually were funny, with the scene, I’m pretty sure those are still in the show

I love how Jim is in the middle of a sales call and he senses the "this is gonna be good" vibe and decides to hang up

I totally did not connect the dots that the tiramisu Michael was eating was the one Pam threw away.
Also him slowly sinking in the chair and phyllis and stanley craning their necks to see him

If I remember correctly Michael had his own piece of tiramisu and Jim brings a piece as a bribe to Pam and she throws it away. I assumed Michael saw her cake in the trash and thought she threw it away because there was a hair in it like the piece he had and he just kept eating it. LOL!

Legend has it Michael Scott drew the idea for the smart watches when he looked at his watch and said his phone is ringing
No matter how awesome a scene from The Office is, just know there's an even better version of it hidden in some NBC warehouse. This show is just bigger than reality; it keeps on giving almost ten years after it aired. What a legend!
10 years after it finished airing, in 2025 it'll be 20 years since it started.

What sells Stanley’s expressions for me is when he blinks more than a couple times in one shot.
It can perfectly show his tired/I-dont-care attitude, or his slightly-confused/slightly-offended-by-whatever-Michael-says attitude.

Often times I wonder, what if we could have extended cuts of all episodes of the Office featuring certain deleted scenes that could've added extra context to the episodes

I’ve watched this episode at least four times and I never noticed that Michael sank in Pam’s chair before this video. That was comedy gold and I completely missed it.

Unfortunately, they were forced to cut stuff to make the show fit a predetermined length.

I love the fact that in the end of the scene Michael looks at his clock and then concludes, while there is no sound coming from his room, that his phone is ringing
I love that the lesson Michael got from not getting to have the Pippi Longstocking doll he wanted because his step father made him get a football instead wasn't that boys shouldn't play with dolls it was that he already had enough dolls for a Tea Party and didn't need another XD it really shows that he is happy to be himself and do what he enjoys regardless of if it is seen as weird by others.
No, it really shows that you're taking emotional lessons from a joke and you should seek therapy. I'm serious.

You gotta think it’s amazing these Actors successfully act like they are annoyed by this man but in reality they are in awe of him and his acting ability.
This is actually fantastic lol. Exactly how dumb a manager sounds when you ask for good working conditions.
It’s fascinating how they wrote a character that is both the best and the absolute worst! He’s cringe and still so wholesome at the same time. Micheal Scott is one hell of a character.
And Steve Carrell is the only person who could play all of the complexities.
Why was this ever deleted?! It fits perfectly into the rest of the scene!
At this point I feel like they probably have enough unused material from this show to string together a whole new season.
There is podcast "Office Ladies" where Pam and Angela are going through episodes one by one and they have said many times "we had material for 30-35 minutes episodes (EASY) but there was always need to cut for 20 minutes".
Thats why some episodes are "part 1 and part 2". Not because they had to come up with something for tv, but because they (producers ofc) insisted that they would not cut anything for the story.

I would love to see how this show would have turned out if each episode was allowed to be as long as modern streaming episodes are. Imagine how much more of this great content would have fit into each episode! Imagine how much greater the storylines would have been. I wish they would go back and add these deleted scenes to the original episodes and stream it somewhere. Of course, that's wishful thinking.

In the released cut, the scene from 2:24 to 2:27 is placed at the beginning, then they placed the scene from 1:25 to 2:23 and then resumed the scene from 2:28 as the previous 4 seconds scene was already placed at the beginning.. so, in a way they skipped 1:24 mins in the cut, shuffled some scenes and still it made clear sense was Michael wanted to say..
