- In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 2005 Jaguar S Type R Supercharged. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
my dad had a gold jaguar s-type before he passed away. I cant watch this video because it brings back memories...
😔😔
😢
My grandma has one of these. Great car she loves it.
Great car. I have the same car, same year, colors, etc, though I have factory nav which makes the central screen a touch screen for climate and audio. I also have the CD changer in the trunk. From a dead stop, it lays rubber like you wouldn't believe, and when you are doing 60 mph, stomp on the accelerator and in literally an instant you are doing 90. It handles great around curves, and the brakes are extremely spot on. Very impressive car in all respects.
How many miles u got
How was the car, looking to get one, how's the reliability
My dad has a dark grey sport one of these, the latest model S-Type there is, it has a black leather interior and because it was made to be a 'show off' model for the local jaguar garage, it has every feature this car can have apart from the sunroof. I hope that one day I could own one of these.
I own 2 2005 4.2 s-types, one of them a sport. Both high mileage. You will need to love and commit to these cars to keep them - the cost of things like brakes, struts, radiator, you name it, are very high. The brakes on the R will run you $2500.00. I just replaced 2 back struts on the my sport - $2100.00. Own the s-type and you will face the conundrum of investing a lot of money in a car that has a rapidly decreasing market value. Make sure you have a local shop that will do good work on these cars before buying one. The cost of having an s-type will still be high, but you can avoid dealer repair/replace price shock.
David Thomson I found OEM strut kit for $1,000. For a DIYer it’s a little better but still expensive. I think the brakes are Brembo. Maybe there’s aftermarket kit available for this car that’ll at least give you more options.
Have one FOR SALE DUE TO TRIP overseas 786-631-1461 if interested. Must see and drive to appreciate $3500 80 original miles
They had a reallly good design on this one
People should really stop comparing this to an S-Class. The hierarchy is as follows - X-Type = C-Class (actually somewhere between a C and E), S-Type = E-Class, XJ = S-Class
PANKI_7 Can you read? That's exactly what I said.
PANKI_7 If I edited my comment, why doesn't it say so next to the post date? Rather stop before you make an even bigger fool of yourself.
It would say edited if he changed it and he is right with the way he typed it.... go away
I would say the xj super 8 and vanden plas go against the s class the xj was 56k base new (mine) which is between the e550 and s430
What? I love the C-Class but it is not even in the same Realm as an S-Type Jag. You might compare it to an E-Class Mercedes but it's a whole nother heart and soul. You just can't compare 345 horsepower in a 4.2 L engine with a V6 engine in the Mercedes. Having had a car dealership I've owned all of these cars and more than one of most most of the above mention. The S Class Mercedes does what it's supposed to do and does it very well if you like the car for really old people they can afford more than a Buick or if you're young and pretentious. I like the E class better. Not that much better. The C-Class? I think that would be my pick if I'm going to buy a Mercedes. But people who buy a jaguar excluding the old X-type, they don't care what people think because they're rock stars. You can spend a lot more money on a car than what an S-Type will cost you but the heritage of styling including the swoosh on the side and the oval Grill are timeless. Even the V6 is fun to drive. The 4.2 L is a rocket and the suspension is truly a sports car suspension.
There was no traffic on I-5 between Roseburg Oregon where I lived and Mount Shasta City, about an hour into California. I left Roseburg and set the cruise at 90 and it stay there all the way come out Shasta City except where I slow down because I knew cops would possibly be there with their radar. You can do that with an F shell but none of the other ones if you're talkin Mercedes.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Gorgeous car with bags of character. All the better for being a facelift model with a much more aggressive look. Less "old man" and more "old money".
jgh548 I got the 01 now im striving to get an 05+ model. the facelift looks so much better.
Now THIS is a proper Jag. the XF is very nice and sexy, but Id rather have one of these ANY day... it's just fantastic... prbly my fav vid of urs.
DING DING DING DING DING "very calming"
i like fords chime
I own S type Jag since 2008 until to date. good reasonable car by all means and in mint condition. total 67000 miles since new but bought as second hand in 2008 with 45000 miles. Enjoyable to drive.
I love that even though it is an R model, the interior is still beautiful and luxurious
S type chassis = underrated. The engine is subjective, but the S type drives fantastic overall. The interior is solid, even at 170,000 miles. Service service service.
I got to drive my grandparent's 04 x-type to prom yesterday and God was it amazing!
Great video as always! Love those S Type R Jags!
I've been looking forward to this video for so long! 5 Stars!
how could jagaur discontinue something that gorgeous. yeah the stoped makeing the s type in 08
personally, i think this, and the XJ, are how Jags should look like. i know the brand needs to develop over time, but the new models look bland, like any other Accord or Camry out there. Jaguars should look sharp.
JAGUAR s type r
My dad has a 2003 Jaguar S Type R and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! So does he
Do you still like it
I've always loved the S Type. Great looking, and sounds amazing!
love this body style jag. had an 02 s type v6 with the type r wheels absolutely amazing car and the Alpine speakers sound amazing. Definitely considering purchasing an s type r.
Jaguar has the most pleasant chimes of all cars! Every company could take a lesson from them on that!
Hey Saabkyle04, love your videos (watch them almost religiously when new ones come out lol ). i just love the variety! keep it up! and also if you can you should try to find a Jaguar X-type to do a tour on
Love the S-type, but would like to see a proper review of an X-type as well! You're the pro Kyle!
x type are trash
The Type R's are hard to find, but you may be able to find used ones anywhere from $10k to $25k
Now they are soooooooo cheap
This is a S-Type Sport, someone put R badges on it. Trust me I have one had there is a difference.
That exhaust sounds beautiful to be stock.
4 speed auto? Afraid not.
Also, the 6 speed is the same setup as the 5 speed,
not a "semi-automatic", just an Auto ZF box.
These Jag cars are like Ford cars. The S-Type was built on the same platform that also hosted the Ford Thunderbird and Lincoln LS.
This one isn't a lincoln as it's post 2004. E.g The engine and ECU is completely different (the engine was designed in the UK); Post 2004 models have totally different suspension set ups and updated wiring, which is why post 2004 models are more reliable. It was ford's fault for creating a poor car as they decided to talk a lincoln and dress it up with jaguar design with the idea that they'll sell a car whilst designing it properly. The later stype after 2004 is mostly jaguar engineering.
wow, thats really nice. you deserve everything you have and more
this my future car
andrew smith Ídem.
Same
Nice
How's that going?
Describing the key as 'unique' made me smile when there are millions of transit vans, (plus countless other UK Fords) with the same key
@iceyshards The supercharged Type Rs are hard to find. A used one like the one in the video can go anywhere from $15k to $30k.
Cool car Kyle, maybe you can do a review on a X type someday? Cheers!
love tha body shape of these
Great video kyle! And if you can do a video on the new 2010 Jaguar XFR that would be great. Thanks!
I just bought this in replacement to the E55
And OMG this is WAY BETTER !!!
Especially the leather !!!
I have an X type Jag, but I want one of these so bad! Great video.
Have one FOR SALE DUE TO TRIP OVERSEAS, Mint condition in and out, well maintained 80k original miles, Must see and test drive to appreciate
This excellent opportunity.
I've had my fair share of electrical and transmission problems with an 03' S-Type 4.2.
if it's zf it's always goes down to oil pressure. change oil. it will fix it 90% of all faults...despite mechanics try to sell you new one for 4-5k or repair for 2k....
these cars are great looking. there is one parked almost right outside my house atm. not the supercharged R though, its the 2,7 v6
It is interesting to note that was designed when Jaguar was under Ford and the Lincoln LS shares the same platform and Lincoln was attempting a sedan under the same platform. They are so different it seems.
Thinking about getting one of these but not the R version, just the standard 4 liter V8, after my dad got one I have become super interested in the S type
The engine (AJ-V8) was developed in the UK and the design was taken to the US took the design, not the otherway around. And pre-2004 jags, I would agree it is an LX platform, but afterwards they upgraded the suspension and stuff.
sorry about that i meant 2003, the year with the twin turbos (the way faster model). we dont have the s400 here the lowest model we have is the s430... the s600 would be the obvious choice if it weren't for the electronic problems... the standard features are amazing, the interior quality is amazing, the ride is amazing, and most of all the speed is amazing! its crazy that a car that weighs two and a half tons can do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.
@pizzaboyharmony we owned a 2004 Jaguar S type R and we do take care of our cars, like you say waxed and cleaned, however we are not the most mechanical people, we could change our oil and filter, but that's it, it was in the shop quite a bit, but none the less, once you put your foot down at 50 mph and felt that wave of torque just take you to 100 faster than you can blink, it was all worth it, seriously this car is awesome, and now a bargain! 400bhp for about 17k!
frickin love this car
this annihilator guy posts, in EVERY SINGLE video kyle uploads, the transmissions and sometimes the engines of the car reviewed, what motivates this dude to do such thing (?), that will remain a mystery
I know its years ago but a shame that car was not detailed inside and out before the video! The exterior paint so needed a full decontamination and machine polish then protection....
Lovely cars and getting rare now especially well looked after with low mileage and good history!
That car would sound awesome like it should of with a performance exhaust and better intake etc
beautiful looking car
@markkjay people REALLY forget how fast this car really is, i mean its actually as fast as the 05-09 mustang GT, faster than the 99-04 GT, and it has 4 doors, all the luxury amenities of a jaguar, and performance that was insanely good
Stunning!!!! Absolutely stunning!!! Looks very expensive
I have a 2005 s type. I love mine...
Damn, this is a rare model
Stunning car!
07.28 ... Peak a boo , I see you , Awsome car !
I want this car so badly.
I got one of you interested
cool here in england they sold the s-type with a 5-spd Manual as well
I like the earlier s-types rear lights allot better i don't like the bubble ones on this. but i still love it, especially the supercharged V8
just found one of these..5500... 108k miles..no problems... good deal!?!?
I'm curious. I love this car. The way it's look and how sound. For be a daily driver that's a good car? Thanks for any info.
I need this 1 in my life
Good walk around. Looking for an 08 w/black,white or red interior.
I would rather have a Used Jag or BMW Or Mercedes rather than a newer 2012/2013 car thats made out of cheap plastic with a 4cyl 200hp< or a vs that barley makes me feel speed.
Really?
Oh, a small but very important difference. I was rather referring to the exterior (front side windows eg.). I'm not sure but those two cars are strangely very similar....go check it. I might be wrong, but those similarities are just stunning...
@wildman261 I wish they would. I recently switched to a second hand X Type after a Merc. Pity it was underrated (the Jag). I tried a couple of S-Types before deciding for the more practical and nicer X Type.
I always liked this car..
@wildman261 No. The XF replaced the S-Type. X-Type was dropped.
Nice vid dude. The S Type is based on the Lincoln LS isnt it ? Any views on how reliable these engines are ? Ive got one in CT for sale with only 25,000 odd miles on it. GL car.
John Doe Well, the LS is more based on the S type, mainly in the chassis. It did get a smaller version of the Jag V8 with less HP. The S Type also shared common chassis architecture with the last Ford Thunderbird. One nice thing about that is You can source a lot of chassis and service parts for much better price once you find the cross reference parts for the LS and T-bird.
+Oldbmwr100rs +Oldbmwr100rs what are you on about its developed by Jaguar and Jaguar only? its has nothing to do with lincoln
Jordan Gibbons The Jaguar S-type shared a common platform with the Lincoln LS, front engine, rear drive. The X-type was mostly based on the Mondeo.
got that right, jags are rare among the teenage crowns
I have a end 2004 model this has a 6 speed automatic. automatic ZF 6HP26 transmission
Thank you for the info. I'm looking for an 08. Repair info is what I'm looking for.
I have to agree. The "ford-era" (and later) Jags are even more reliable than comparable BMW's or Benz's.
@dannyd241 The S-Type R is supercharged whilst the normal S-Type is not, you can get the 4.2 non supercharged version, still quick but not brutal like this. This is 400bhp, not 390 as stated in the vid. This model doesn't have many extras, no touch screen satnav or nothing, bah. Go find one with satnav guys!
Aye saabkyle04 I love your video I'm a car expertise I'm 16 and I own a 2005 jaguar x-type 2.0 and I was wondering could you do a review on one.
beautiful car the best I loved.
its 05 and newer that are the extremely reliable ones but there are always some cars that a trouble makers, doesn't mean the lot was bad.
@ThousanWhite Do you think 31,000 is a good price for a Black/Black/Aluminum interior S-Type R with only 9,000 miles and select edition until 9/2013??
Do you get commissions if you get a referral?
my dad has an 2004 s type jag back in 2017 but around December the gear shift started playing up ( it was an automatic ) and he had to chuck it rip 2004 - 2017
who gets a luxury car like that and doesnt get navigation
Now how a luxurious, classy car like that not gonna have cupholders in the back? My mums 06 Accord does.....wat a surprise
hey Kyle how much is this car I've always wanted one it's one of my dream cars
Good one is 12-15K, poor ones are under 10K.
^^^^^^thanks appreciate the info shared I'll be keeping that in mind when I purchase one
No problem. I helped my dad purchase one last November. Cars.com is a great place to look. Just be careful about the Carfax and service history.
You can get one with about 70k miles for around $7000
05-07 S-Type Rs are still around the 10,000 mark, while the 03's are under 10k. Just depends on the car and its history.
If you get one as a first car, it's bound to be expensive for insurance and servicing. Our S-Type not long ago has had lots of little hiccups and has had to have lots of money spent on it. I'd just go for a Mini or something small and sporty for a couple of years, then bank in on a bigger luxury car.
Question
Does the R edition take the same parts as the regular s type such as compressors converters and such like that?
Very nice car and my mom wants one
Jaguars are beautiful cars and I heard that the XJ sedan is one of the worlds smoothest riding cars. Too bad they lack features, the base models don't even come with heated seats.
@naveenshanv i agree, and i think i may reconsider, because this one is much larger
why is the lights on the dash going crazy for?
Can you do a test drive of this
is this thing stock? supercharged v8 with 390 hp? are you serious to me? please answer back.
nice find bro.
The XF is rear wheel drive. The Ford Focus is front wheel drive.
the transmission on the 1999-2008 Jaguar S-Type
Transmission
4 speed automatic
5-speed manual
5-speed automatic
6-speed semi-automatic
Nice car!
Why does the door chime sound when the engine is running?
@saabkyle04 where did the HID headlamps come from ive been looking for a pair for my 04 s type
Is the check engine light flickering?
looks sweet
Someone tell the the XF is not based on the Ford Focus. They have exact the same front side windows, the sheet metal is very very similar.....
