    The lack of a good, (or any), 3D camera in this device is a NO GO ! The Lume Pad 2 has both a 3D front and a very good 3D rear camera. The pics I get from it are fantastic. In fact, I use many of them for texture maps in my 3D animations. Also, the sound in the Lume Pad 2 , I'm sure is a lot better too ! Its the best sounding tablet I've ever heard. Even better quality than the Samsung Galaxy Tabs and most notebooks. When reviewing you should test the display for even lighting and dirty screen effect across the entire display. (Using test images helps in these comparisons.) I do 3D work on it and it has an absolutely fantastic display in 2D.
    ...and 3D too.
    Better than many notebooks I've used.

      I agree with everything you've said here, but after watching multiple movies on the tablet covered in this video I prefer it to the Lume Pad 2. I think the 3D just feels better overall and the fact that it can be watched in the dark or with the lights completely turned off is a big deal. It's also way lighter so it feels more comfortable to hold. As a media viewing device its awesome. But it doesn't have any of the apps or cameras that make the Lume Pad 2 so amazing, so it depends on what you are looking for. For people who just want something to watch their 3D video files on, its probably the best option right now. For the other stuff, definitely not

      @@josh_3D Yes, the eye-tracking needs a lighted environment to work. It's funny the Nintendo 3DS worked GREAT in very low light.
      It worked just by the light from its display. I played in the dark quite often.
      It had eye-tracking but it used infrared. (I'm surprised something similar wasn't done with the Lume Pad 2.)
      In anycase, it looks like this shortcoming has been addressed in the next Nubia Model. Hopefully,
      it will have an SD Card slot as well.....

    The one I am waiting to see. Review on is the Nubia Pad 3D 2 should be very interesting. Great work in comparison, good straight answers on resultion, Xtalk, depth, face/eye-tracking, apps ect

    Can't believe how fast you got this tablet in your hands😄, thanks again for another truly helpful review Josh. Really amazing. Only does it make it even more difficult for 3D movie fans: grab this one, wait for the ZTE Nubia 3D II to come out, or heading towards the Acer Aspire SpatialLabs as the ultimative (re)solution, which may sit more comfortable on your lap than the heavy (and probably noisy??) Predator gaming machine 🤔?

      Yea especially for those in it mainly for movie viewing, this tablet could be the best choice out of any of them considering portability, toggling head tracking on/off, overall size/weight, resolution and brightness + support for vertical format content. Its my go to tablet for watching 3D videos now

      @@josh_3D Thanks Josh. What do you think about the announced Acer 3D 15 SpatialLabs Edition for 3D movie watching?

    I think the critical factor is whether it has less ghosting (cross talk) than the Lume Pad 2, that it doesn't have stereo cameras front and rear like the Lume Pad 2 makes it not as useful.

    • @josh_3D
      @josh_3D  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Definitely has less crosstalk from what I've seen. I'll try to do a side by side comparison in my final review video of this tablet. Right, without the cameras, this is really just a 3D media viewer, which is fine though because it is really good at that specific thing and reasonably priced

    Great! What are the actual specs (CPU, GPU).
    Does the 2D mode actually uses the full panel resolution or is there a permanent lenticular layer degradation the fidelity in 2d?

    Would you recommend getting this tablet now or wait 2 months for the new ZTE tablet to come out.

      If you aren’t concerned about cost and have an interest in features outside of just movie watching and picture viewing, definitely wait. This is perfect for someone who wants to be able to turn head tracking on and off and just want to watch movies in high resolution glasses free 3D. It’s now my go to device for that, but we’ll see how I feel when the Nubia Pad 3D II arrives

    Does it do MVC decoding? All these devices I've tried are basically useless to me as they can't even play back 3D content...

    • @josh_3D
      @josh_3D  Před 2 měsíci

      Pretty sure it does not do this. I feel you, its a shame that no one makes that a standard feature. But realistically its probably not going to come from the manufacturer side, I think someone is bound to make an app for it once 3D devices really start to take off. Would you have interested if tablets, laptops and monitors could directly read and play 3D blu rays from a 3D blu ray player? or no use to you unless it can read MVC data files?

    Hi there, I would not recomend. there are in my opinion some major drawbacks: it's not cheap in price, you have only 1 app (3Dfan) for looking 3D, that doesn't support NAS-drives, no support for 3DStereoid or sView apps, you can not open mpo-files, renaming doesnot work either, you can not sort by folder, eyetracking only works during daylight, per default you cannot install other apps, you have to install aptoide first for example, no 3d-camera (why the hell?), sometime on photodetails you can see RGB-Pixels. Summary: My old ProMa has better picture-quality, so no Portrait-mode. In my opinion some gets the best 3d-experience with shutter-glasses!! Question: is there a 3d-tablet with shutter-technology ???

      @josh_3D  Před 2 měsíci

      Personally I love it just for what it does well. But you have me really curious when you say the picture quality on the old ProMa is better. Which tablet are you referring to? I haven't ever had the chance to try it. Is the resolution higher in 3d?
