    The author does like to from scratch, czcams.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.

    Love this table Ana, thanks for this video. I have a long wide bench top that I wanted to make into a craft table do now I know how to build the legs and attach them securely. I’ll have to use 6 legs though cos it’s a pretty long top. Do you think that would work out doing it this way???

  • @EarlyBirdCraft

    The problem with using this type of thin soft pine lumber is that they warp

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks for the feedback!
      Personally, I have good success as long as the boards are kiln dried and acclimated- the table we had before still has a perfect top that is 5 years old and no warping or joint separation. I’ll be doing a video soon on refinishing it and changing out the base.
      I find 1x tops with a substantial base do good, as the base holds the table down from warping. Lightweight bases are no good, especially paired with a 2x top
      Just the experience I have and my two cents for what it’s worth!

    I like this modern table design, but won’t the mitered apron corners eventually show large gaps? The aprons screwed crosswise into the top boards will inevitably move with the seasons at a different rate than the aprons screwed along the top boards. If you live in a four-season climate, I’d be skeptical of this design. If you look at the $2,600 table that served as inspiration for this build, you can see that it’s made from veneered MDF, which would work better for this design.

  • @b22chris
    @b22chris Před 10 měsíci +7

    As someone who built a dining table from pine I would not recommend it. Spend the extra money and make it out of a hard wood like oak. Pine dents extremely easily and making it from oak will make this a piece that can be passed down through generations

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  Před 10 měsíci +2

      This table would be so beautiful in oak! Absolutely invest in hardwoods for generational pieces.
      One thought is if someone doesn't intend to commit to a piece for a lifetime (trendy design, change in needs or room size), pine and spruce are rapid renewing and grow locally almost everywhere - might be a compromise worth considering. Just a though! Appreciate the feedback!

    Your plans are always so basic and functional. And they require a minimum of special tools or techniques.
    When you assemble your table tops, do you use glue as well as the pocket hole screws?

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  Před 10 měsíci +1

    Quick question, do you glue as well as pocket hole screw the table top or just rely on the screws?

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  Před 10 měsíci

      You certainly can, pocket holes do pretty good - but glue would be a bonus!

  • @Diniecita
    @Diniecita Před 10 měsíci

    Its pretty but as someone with LONG legs I HATE sitting at a table that has that underlip(you called it an apron) I always thought the apron was the end piece on the table top.

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  Před 10 měsíci

      It does take up some leg room, so maybe not the best option for taller people. I do like "underlip" this seems to be more of an easy to understand term, I'll have to use it. Thank you!

    Just for once make something without pocket screws lol

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks for the feedback! We do have many plans without. However it is difficult to make a tabletop without some specialized tools, whether it’s biscuits, pocket holes or dowels. Pocket holes are my favorite as you don’t have to wait for glue to dry and the screws pull wood together- so a joiner isn’t required.

  • @traveler2370

    Where do you go to purchase straight and dry pine boards? Home Depot? Lol. God, that’s a lot of pocket screws.
