- The Israeli Air Force struck more than 70 targets across the Gaza Strip over a 24-hour period, killing a “senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad operative,” according to the Israel Defense Forces.
The IDF revealed the senior operative was killed during an airstrike in Rafah and was the head of logistics for the terror group in Gaza’s southern-most city.
Israel also appears to be changing course, at least slightly, when it comes to its full-scale operation in Rafah. An Israeli representative told the International Court of Justice on Friday that Israel has not started the full-scale operation because it’s working to ensure civilians are kept safe.
The war began on Oct. 7 when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, killing approximately 1,200 people and taking more than 200 people hostage. As of Saturday, more than 100 hostages remain captive in Gaza.

I had an epiphany today.... The possible reason Egypt doesn't want the IDF in Rafah, is because they'll find out what they've been doing together with Hamas.
It’s a known fact that tunnels lead outside to Egypt. Much of the smuggling is done through there. Egypt has discovered them before and flooded them out. I don’t believe the Egyptian government is complicit in this. They have no reason to help Hamas and every reason to continue their partnership and peace with israel

Chandler's assessment on the hostages is spot on. I hate to say this, but the Israeli families that has a family member(s) as hostages need to be more supportive to IDF decisions on Rafah. In the end it will be the IDF that will locate and rescue the hostages and the sooner they can do that, the sooner those families will have a (good or bad) final outcome .

This was by far, the best summary of the current situation in the Middle East that I have heard to date. Although a small part of the summary, a major point that I had not heard before was that of the strategic value that Israel had previously provided the US in 2 wars, still has, and its shared ongoing intelligence. While individual direct acts of violence by individuals and groups are heinous, those of coordinated military grade drones and missiles are worse, because you can not defend against them with a rifle, wall, or neutral zone. If not for Iran, and apparently now Russia, these terrorist groups would eventually lose their teeth. However, I also suspect that US election politics is now the weakest point in not addressing "The Bears," who are already lose, "in the China shop." JUST SAYING...
