    Thanks Juni! Used your guide to remove the center console and reattach my shift cable. Dealer was going to rip me off for almost $600. With your help, the fix cost me 69 cents and about 20 minutes of my time. You're a lifesaver!

    I have waited for years to figure out out to do this on my 2003 Camry, every mechanic I spoke with said it would cost me a "fortune" and would be an almost "impossible" task! Thanks so much. I will check out info re: 2003 Camry.

    TIP/CAUTION for DIY'ers: The two hold down bolts in the armrest box dead end in the floor board and are exposed to the environment. One of the bolts in my 04 Corolla was frozen by rust in place and snapped off at the head. If you can soak them from the bottom with Never Seize - that may help ease them out. ANOTHER TIP: You can disconnect the arm rest power out let AND the shifter console power outlet and remove the entire saddle out of the way to: clean out the change & french fries on the saddle mount, find surprise lost items & do a thorough cleaning of the saddle. MSG 4 JUNI: Thanks dude, GREAT DIY vid. I also did the clock and re-soldered the resistors. Your vids had a big contribution to my 04 rebuild - refurbishment project. Thank you - T.T.O'F 04/10/2020.

    No need to remove the middle console. You only need to remove the wood looking plastic and the black plastic around the shifter with the shifts letters to access the bulb

    REALLY helpful video. Saw this video a few weeks ago, ordered the part, and just replaced the indicator light today. Without this video, I wouldn't have had any idea where the light was, let alone how to get to it. One note, the directions are correct about turning the light socket counter-clockwise; but keep in mind that's looking from underneath. If you're looking from above, it's clockwise. Hard to explain - point is, I had to try both directions. That light socket is really hard to get to with your fingers, both taking it out and putting it back in. Thanks again - gave me the confidence to do the repair.

    Juni S! You are amazing! You are my hero! Everything worked almost exactly as you described! My son and I changed the bulb with very little hassle (and he has absolutely no patience). In my 2005 Corolla, the light was on the opposite side, and there was a bar on the back of our gear box cover that impeded our access, so we had to remove the gear cover altogether. Also, there was an electrical connection on the opposite side that we had to disconnect. We just worked together to put everything back as exactly we had dismantled. Thank you for giving us the confidence to "do it ourselves" and save hundreds!

    Hi! To change shifter bulb you don't need to remove central console. Only two steps to do: remove a shifter trim and next remove black shifter panel (mounted on four latches). The bulb you can change using nippers. That's all! It's good to use LED bulb instead W5W.

    • @wutdadilyo
      @wutdadilyo  Před 8 lety

      +Marcin Dąbrowski that may be the case, but for ease of doing, my method is preferred and it really only takes an extra 10-15 more minutes to remove and reinstall the center console. Plus access to the bulb is easier using my method. LED bulbs may last longer, true, but remember LED bulbs are sometimes uni-directional and some parts of the shifter area may appear brighter than others versus the standard non-LED bulb used in there that dissapates light more evenly

    Thanks Juni, Great video, easy to follow. However, it seems this was not my issue since the bulb did not light once connected. Do you have any suggestion as to what the issue might otherwise be?

    Your videos are excellent! Thanks for the help. I've got a bulb on the left side of the selector side of the fan & temp control on the 2003 Toyota Corolla that goes on & off, when I change the selector. I can get it back on by tapping the console. Evidently, the bulb is OK, because it does work. Could it be just loose in the socket? Also, how do I get to the bulb? Do you have any ideas on how to correct this problem?

    Excellent video Juni. Just went through the procedure and it now works. I shop vacuumed and detail cleaned under the console and found $1 in change a few fast food french fries and a lost garage key! Autozone has a 2 pack of bulbs that worked for me (Sylvania longlife #2821).

    Juni, Great video. I have been looking for my wedding ring, which I take on/off in the car when I swim. Now I can take my console off and I bet it fell in there.

    Thanks man. The video on changing the gear shifter bulb was really helpful. Could you do one on the same model Corolla 2003-2008 clock. My digital clock in this model is dead and was coming on and off for a while, now has not come on again period.

      Hey ZachAttackHD 07, subscribe to my channel as I already created a video on how to fix the digital clock on our corollas
