..you missed several of the best parts: where Jamal gets the irascible English teacher, where Forrester reads the piece that Jamaal wrote and reveals who the actual author was, and Jamaal's farewell to Forrester admonishing him the sentiment, "be sure to write". But it is a testament to this movie that one could lift almost any scene out and it would be meaningful. Thank you.
Many years ago now a video production company that I worked with booked me to do video services on a shoot for this film at a basketball arena here in Hamilton, Ontario. At the time most of my income was earned working in a hotel. I cancelled some shifts to take the job. Then I was told that we weren't chosen to work with the film or they didn't need as many people as originally thought. Oh man that hurt. This was Sean Connery. I was given his name. I loved his work. It cost me money turning down shifts. Well it hurt my employment status because they thought my future was in hotel hospitality. I had tipped my hand.
At 62, I truly wished I'd known what I wanted to do with my life! It has passed me by, and I wasted precious time! All I have now is regret! Go for it!
Disagree. This movie stands on its own. It needs no further storyline. It's a great commentary on the struggles and emotions of people, regardless of race, background, circumstance and life experience. For me, the mark of a special movie or any work of art is one that attaches itself to your heart and soul, in a way that leaves you vulnerable enough to make you examine who and what you are as a human being. This movie does that for me every time. Highly underrated performance by Connery, and the rest of the cast did a great job as well. RIP, sir.
Such a great movie. So underrated, so overlooked.
So True
Very sadly YES! That was/is Oscar material!
one of the best movies in existence....perfectly timeless
An unlikely friendship. This movie is so beautiful, the story line is amazing.
RIP Sean Connery. One of the greatest.
"the rest of those who have gone before us...cannot steady the unrest of those to follow"...magnificent quote
One of the best movies of all time IMO

My all-time favorite movies:
1. Shawshank Redemption
2. Tie: Finding Forrester/Rudy
They need to make a sequel to Finding Forrester.

Wonderful scene
The Untouchables. That was based on an old TV show. The scene with the baby carriage was kinda frightening and awesome.
untouchables
Even though I am a Sox fan from Boston, I still don't like what they did to Yankee Stadium.
Not exactly a soup question, is it?
