- After his friend was shot on Christmas Eve in 2013, Chris Wilmore - known as Scarface - began recruiting for his backyard fight club, as a way to encourage people to settle disputes with gloves, not guns.

Backyard fight clubs have become popular with a lot of fighters like Kimbo Slice coming out of the ranks. Now these fighters transition to UFC fighting and MMA. In areas where gang violence is rampant it is backyard fight clubs that help settle disputes or get people off the streets and into the ring.

Scarface is not just a example of turning his own life around. He's an example and role model for all of us to be better, to do better. He allows people who usually resort to violence to settle things in a safer more complete way. But, what he's really teaching us, is to be humble, to forgive, to let go of anger and move forward in a positive way. Good job Scarface.

I got into a series of fights with one guy for years but one common enemy had stopped it and all it takes is a little bit of teamwork to create friendship
I fought a guy in college and while it took me 2 years to apologize (it was my fault and I owned up to it) he forgave me, he had no reason to forgive especially long after the fight, but he did, any boy can fight it takes a real man to forgive.

I did not grow up in the same neighborhood has these guys. However, this is exactly how we would settle disagreements. The crazy part is our high school gym teacher started us on setting beefs this way. We just continued to have backyard boxing. It worked every time, boxing will humble a person real quick.

This is what I miss about growing up back then as a kid from now. If you had a problem, you'd meet at the corner fence at the edge of school and handle it. Most of my best friends, I fought, cuz once you fight you know who they are and you can trust them to stand up when you need them. Now it's a whole bunch of ppl just saying things on the internet but scared in real life. Win lose or draw, do you have the heart and then respect goes to the other person for having the heart too. Where I grew up, male or female, this is how you solved your beefs. Sometimes people's fathers would supervise just to make sure no one brought pieces or knives. However, it wasn't a spectator sport like this.. And we were taught to try to solve beefs with words first.
