- MSNBC’s Ali Velshi joins Andrea Mitchell from Naples, Florida to report on the catastrophic storm surge the city is experiencing. “There's debris all over the place. It's entirely flooded,” says Velshi. “There’s no beach left in Naples.” He warns the city is "not even close to the worst of it yet."

This man held it together like a champion. His camera man too. THey had to be low key panicking seeing how quickly that water was rising and how the ocean kept surging in relentlessly. Glad they are ok. Prayers to all Florida's residents and visitors through this massive storm.

Blah blah
Living through this, i can say seeing all the people in SWFL coming together to help each other was unbelievable
Yeah people do not understand that amount of water will knock them over. Wow. Thanks for the footage, stay safe out there.
Those people are not needed anymore
There's a widely watched clip here in Ireland on Irish media outlets of morons in Florida swimming in the water beside a pier, of waves smashing in all around them. Just needs one wave to pick any of them up and smash their head on the pier, or the posts, and they're gone. And what of the risk they'd put rescue people at, trying to save them? People who deliberately put themselves in harm's way should be left to the consequences.
Atula told me not to play in the rough water today. I am saved by his devine intervention
And all that water is salt water the damage from that water is going to be incalculable….and then tornadoes….wow ….I have family and friends in Florida …and I’m praying for them ….and for all in Florida …
And watch the insurance companies wiggle out of paying...
Lol now imagine being a wild animal or any other living animal in that area, you get recked from that summer then hit with this, you’re gonna have really small lizards next year. Rip that Geico gecko and your insurance rates

I am here in Naples ! Completely devastated!! People don’t understand- we had no time to evacuate! It was predicted this was going to Tampa - my neighbors are hosting family who evacuated from there !!
I'm in Naples Florida right now I live about 40 minutes away from where this is being filmed. I'm shocked the storm surge is this bad, usually we don't get that bad of storm surge (at least as far as I know).
Edit: Before any more people say anything about climate change, just know that I'm not a climate change denier.
Also before anyone else starts berating me for "not listening" and "not being ready", I'm surprised simply because storm surge numbers (as far as I recall) are usually not very accurate for our area and so I'm surprised at the accuracy of the stats this year. I was listening to the news and i prepared for the storm and I'm doing fine. In fact the forecasts showed that it wasn't gonna hit Naples as bad as it is now, it wasn't until Monday that they realized the path had changed.

Yikes ! 🐊
THIS IS TERRIBLE.. 😩😩🙏🙏 THE PEOPLE AND THE POOR ANIMALS.
My whole family is in Sarasota. Mom, dad, sister, brother in law, nephews and lots of friends. I am so worried!! I’m freaking out
Didn't they plan at all for hurricanes?
Maybe listening to an evacuation order would have been a wise decision
We love vacationing in Naples - but this is why we decided Never to move to Florida. This is insane, you would have to build a house 30 feet off the ground on massive pillars to stay above the storm surge, and have your own power generator. Then your house would have to withstand 155 mph winds! Florida is simply not worth all that.
We sold our condo and planned to move to Sarasota in June… the weather changed my mind. I live in Hawaii and have our own threats, but we don’t have the same direct hits and flat lands. So sad to see. We have family there too.
Or you could just move inland and make an hour drive to these places and never deal with this kind of thing , that’s like moving to California and saying it isn’t worth it because you decide to buy on the fault line lmao or moving next to a volcano in Hawaii
@@henryquednau3547 I knew my risks moving to Hawaii. Very aware of everything in any state. I made my decision to stay where I am at and moving inland in FL still has the hurricane winds and tornadoes. I choose not to deal with that. I lived in WA all my life and chose to move away because I was over the cold, snow and ice. Driving an hour to get to my job was something I did for over a year here. No thanks. Thanks for your comment.
@@Anne1000. That's excellent. I lived in Hawaii when Hurricane Iwa hit in November 1982. The eye went right over my house. Some damage to a buildings here and there, but nothing like the flat lands of the gulf coast states. Aloha!
@@henryquednau3547 Well, I wouldn't live on a fault line, a volcano (and I lived in Hawaii for 4 years), or on a flat land in the path of a hurricane, or in a river bed prone to flooding. Even a hour away from the coast you will be affected by power outages and flooding, not to mention the traffic problems caused by the storm.
Wow... just plain wow! I couldn't even fathom! I'm getting high anxiety as I'm watching. I couldn't imagine being these news reporters! God Bless you all and these poor animals! 🙏❤🙏

I wonder if the foundations of those buildings were built with this kind of thing in mind? How many times can they be flooded like that without being undermined?
over time they will find out if there are foundation issues appearing
There was a documentary about Florida and sinkholes. Happen quite often. One time right next to a Disney resort, guests needed to flee midnight
Around south Louisiana, houses are usually built on pylons driven several feet into the ground to land on solid Earth due to how swampy the soil is. I would hope someone had similar forethought with beachfront property.
