UPDATE: Over 1 month in and I still haven't had to empty the bin!
Hey friends, I’m Tasia Custode and in this video I’m testing The Shark AI Robot VACMOP and The Shark AI Robot Self-Empty XL Vacuum. Are these vacuums easy to set up? Which vacuum do I like better? And most importantly, do they work well? I’m talking features and AI technology, but most importantly, I’m putting these vacuums to the test.
Other things to note (the video is really long, what can I say?): The Shark AI Robot VACMOP costs $479.99 USD and The Shark AI Robot Self-Empty XL Vacuum is $649.80 USD. The cost of the solution for the VACMOP is about $10.00 USD for a 2L bottle. The VACMOP comes with a tiny bottle of solution and I used the entire bottle for about 1200 sq ft.

Thanks for the great review Tasia. I purchased the Shark AI Vacuum Robot for Christmas and was happy with it so decided to consider moving that upstairs and adding one of these two downstairs (where most of the traffic/hair/dirt accumulates). Think I will give the Vacmop a go after watching this. I realize it doesn't completely replacing needing to mop but the video showed it does a decent job of getting most of the surface dirt and grime cleaned off.

The worst vacuum robots are Shark. It will fail with an unresolvable error within a few weeks. I bought a shark AI Robot( self emptying). First one failed in 2 weeks and they couldn’t troubleshoot it. Sent a replacement instead. Second one failed in 4 weeks. They shouldn’t even be selling these things

We’re looking at this vacmop to replace our aging Shark Ion robot vac and checking out reviews. I would imagine that if you gave your floor a good mop/scrub first then used the vacmop after for maintenance it would probably do a pretty good job at mopping.

We just bought the Shark AI from Costco, not the XL version. After two days, the roller was clogged with hair. My wife's hair is about 2" shorter than yours & my dog is a Shiba Inu (18lbs) with 2" to 4" hairs. It was clogged so bad it was making weird sounds. Removing the roller was easy, but annoying that it clogged so bad.
The third day I thought for sure it had cleaned most of the dog hair & my wife's hair, so I had it clean two locations at once, it got stuck in our guest bathroom we rarely use... the culprit was again the roller jammed with dog hair mainly & my wife's hair... It seems to push the hair inwards toward the Orange roller wheel & thats where it all collects.
It actually made a plastic burn mark on the inside part that holds the orange roller wheel.
I would definitely not call this a vacuum that doesn't get any hair stuck in it, because it most definitely does.
Our stand-up Hoover bag-less vacuum doesn't have this hair problem.

I think I'd want both. I have a bird and the mop vacuum would help clean up his messes on the daily, which would mean less work for me. But I wouldn't want to be emptying it all of the time, so the self-empting vacuum would really be helpful to.

I wish they made one specifically for people with kids. All the videos show the vacuums picking up cereal on carpet but what about cereal that is stuck to the floor because the milk dried? Also wet or kinda still wet noodles? Haha think I'm gonna go with the ai vacmop. I don't mind emptying the bin. My home is about 2400 sq ft luxury vinyl no carpet or rugs. I wonder if it would clean the entire home without needing to be emptied.

I never would have believed how super GREAT the “self cleaning” vac CLEANS.
Had one when they first came out and it was too much trouble to clean it so much and it couldn’t climb over my oriental rugs. They have improved so much, I’ve heard so went to go get another room a but saw That Shark makes them now. I live my 2 Shark Vacume cleaners so I got this Shark instead of the Roomba. I ADORE IT!!! Climbs easily over my orientals (not so well over my small throw rugs) I think they must be too lite. In bathrooms, laundry room, front and back doors, so I just pick them up. This machine is a miracle! Ps I have a 94lb white lab, longhair plack Persian and shoulder length hair my self!!!!
    MIRACLE MACHINE!

I love your review. I have both of them and a AI IRobot vac also. My floor plan has various levels to the rooms, thus the 3 vacs/mop. I notice the noise from the IRobot compared to the Shark. A BIG DIFFERANCE. I notice that they will go over electric cords most of the time that they have to run over. My bedroom has both wood laminate and carpet in the room, and the IRobot does a good job cleaning both. My emptying Shark is set up in my office and adjoining bathroom and storage room. It does a decent job, but not sure it is better than the Shark mop/vac. I"m impressed with the mapping of the mop/vac. It also does a good job going over and around objects in the rooms. I'm eager to try the mop attachment and see how it does on the wood laminate flooring in the kitchen and dining room. Between those two rooms there is a drop off of 1 1/2 inches from the kitchen to the dining room area. Not sure if it will realize the dropoff or fall off it and not be able to go back up to the kitchen area mopping. We'll find out.
Thanks for your review. The mop/vac is new, about 2 weeks, but I've had the other ones for over 1 year.

Two questions.....did you have any interference issues with them running at the same time? We got both for xmas...and figured the mop could stay in mop function all the time, while the vac could do all the carpets. Second question....do you know if they can map multiple households? We travel to a cabin from time to time and while we are there.... would be nice and less clean up on Sundays when we leave to come back home.

How do you like it? We have 2700 sq ft carpet, tile and vinyl. One Persian cat and 1 girl. Concerned about pet hair and ability to clean carpets. Any issues with emptying the dirt bin or hair breaking or getting stuck on rollers etc? How is the maintenance? Does it auto detect when the on-board bin is full and go back to the base for a clean or does it keep cleaning but doing a poor job because the bin is full? Does the robot detect when the outside waste bin is full?
Debating on buying this or the Roborock S7 plus.

You did not test this enough. I have two of these robots, same models,, and both worked great at first. Using them 2 or 3 times per week for about three months. One was purchased to replace the one that failed first. The mop feature stops working. The map glitches on mopping mode the robot just starts to spin in circles until it dies. Also the water tank seems to get clogged, and the mop can’t keep up to stay wet as it moves, so it either leaves streak marks on the floor or the pad is dry. The vacuum feature still works great but both have the same issue, so I don’t use either for mopping whatsoever. I’m considering switching to the Roborock models.

Now I'm on my laptop and your new link works, but there is a sort of error message at the top of the webpage that wasn't there yesterday: "Notice: A non well formed numeric value encountered in /usr/IBM/HTTPServer/htdocs/en_US/template-cache/direct.sharkclean.com/rv2001/47/47b7540c1359ccb23f87bb8815bac007c6a845f5e47ef60b735e7ee3a60ec1dc.php on line 54"

It is a worthless app that does not work. They wont build a PC app so it was worthless. Took it back tp COSTCO for a refund. If I cant program it then its not worth anything to me.
